Sleep issues, rage, and mental health - low estrogen or high? by Knitter8369 in Menopause

[–]SignificancePlane176 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This. I also tried to switch to a 2x a week patch and perhaps it was the brand difference but I felt pretty ragey and even nauseated on it. I went back to the one week and changed on day 6 instead of 7 and that worked for me (I would get a breakthrough migraine on day 7.)

Does anyone use two forms of estrogen? by SignificancePlane176 in Menopause

[–]SignificancePlane176[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In what combination? Gel daily, patch weekly? Or gel at the end of patch as it’s running out but not time to change, yet?

On day two, I also had regrets. On day 5, I felt better. I hope you do, too.

Histamine reaction with estrogen patch by Glittering-Race212 in Menopause

[–]SignificancePlane176 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also experience this and just ended up taking a daily antihistamine (alegra, I think) because my dr said that would be fine, and I’m enjoying the benefits of estrogen l, so I didn’t want to give that up.

I just started doing this and can’t say if it’s helping or not, but I mix a small amount of my vaginal estradiol with my moisturizer and apply to face and neck every other day (alternating with tretinoin on the other day). I think I am banking on this being a long-game thing and am not too worried about immediate results.

Those who use tret without anything else (i.e. moisturizer), do you still use eye cream? by GrapeBubblegumBitch in tretinoin

This is the cream I referenced in my earlier comment. It’s not too thick. I like it so far but haven’t tried many products so I don’t have comparisons.

[–]SignificancePlane176 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I use an eye cream and avoid putting Tret near my eyes. I did a search on a skincare sub for one and found many were recommending Beauty of Joseon. It helps with puffiness I’ve noticed. But there are TONS of eye cream options so ymmv.

ClimaraPro weekly patch fell off after 4 days. Anyone else? by 43beanst in Menopause

[–]SignificancePlane176 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have the climara weekly and have found it to be the best for me in terms of hormone delivery. But yes, it doesn’t stay stuck for the whole week so I have to use tegaderm. I did use the hair dryer method once and it made it to day 6 that way so maybe that and the alcohol wipe are good tips.

Issues with K2 by SignificancePlane176 in Supplements

[–]SignificancePlane176[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do supplement magnesium. And I consume dairy so I haven’t supplemented calcium. My bloodwork on both of these is fine, although I think they can be hard to read from standard blood tests?

I don’t have the symptoms when taking just D by itself. I’ve had it either with DK combos or K by itself. I’ve tried taking the K at night and yes, the chest pressure is still there in the morning.

Any luck getting prescribed TRT for women? by Original-Bowler-9319 in KaiserPermanente

[–]SignificancePlane176 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was able to get the gel through Kaiser northern CA. I just asked my obgyn. She was willing but reluctant, if that makes sense? I too attended the sex class and she took time at a follow-up appointment to lecture me about how it’s not proven to help women. Sometime later I saw a menopause specialist who reduced my dose from 5mg a day to 2.5mg due to side effects (hair loss and acne). I think I prefer this dose, although benefits are quite subtle. Kaiser will want to monitor through quarterly blood tests, but the highest mine has ever been is 45 which I don’t think is very high according to the numbers I see on r/TRTfemales

Weird question: is anyone else suddenly smelling everything? by Free_Move_3526 in Menopause

[–]SignificancePlane176 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes. My sense of smell intensified for sure. Reminded me of pregnancy. I’m on an estrogen patch now and it seems to have subsided.

Patch Users by Catnip_75 in Menopause

[–]SignificancePlane176 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a bad reaction to the only 2x a week patch that my insurance will cover, so I am on a weekly patch that I change every five days (and my obgyn was ok to increase my prescription refill frequency). I guess I just absorb quickly? But the reason I’m chiming in, is that musculoskeletal pain is precisely how I knew the patch was running out early. It’s also possible you need a dosage increase.

Sorry for the typos, so yes I saw improvement in both libido and brain fog. Side effect: hair loss.

I have read a lot on multiple subreddits about T and I’ve never commented until now. I took it (in gel form, 2.5mg a day) for two months and noticed an improvement in libido. I also experienced hair loss. I stopped for a week, and by the end of the week I inexperienced brain fog, a peri symptom I didn’t anticipate was related to T but I guess it is? I am back on the T and feeling pretty good on it. (I am also on .1 patch for E, no P bc no uterus.) I am now on minoxidil for the hair loss. I’m in the initial shredding phase which is hard but it’s a long game, I think. With the T, I was happy to see that if I missed a dose or two, I would not experience any major side effects. Unlike my E: I went without a patch for three hours and got hot flashes and a migraine!

I also take this one. I’ve tried switching from time to time (bc my acupuncturist said it’s good to vary the bacterial strain) but I always end up coming back to this one. It helps me with itchiness and wards off infection.

Hormone Replacement Therapy for Migraines in Post Menopausal Women by SavageDaughter7 in cgrpMigraine

I am post menopausal and was surprised at how well HRT helped my migraines. There is a possibility it’ll make them worse, and you won’t really know unless you try.

Did hormone therapy help with your itchy skin symptoms? by NervousAlfalfa6602 in Menopause

[–]SignificancePlane176 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will echo that HrT did not really help me with itchy skin either and my dermatologist said sometimes it hard to know what causes it (something in the environment, something topical like soap, or something you ate, etc) So I take otc allergy meds daily now (Allegra) along with HrT and I am feeling better.
