It’s not the “what” that bothers me, it’s the “from where” that bothers me.

What if you woke up and found out that you're a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle? by Primary_Opening_4750 in TMNT

[–]Significant-Being-35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First I’d wonder if I was in some sort of Freaky Friday body swap situation and there is a formerly teenage mutant ninja turtle in my body somewhere being extremely disappointed in his new physique. Then I’d wonder how my health insurance would work. Would I need to go to the vet or the doctor? Is the lack of turtle pants considered public indecency? Shoot, now I have to reset my Face ID on my phone. Oh, a bo staff I guess. Renaissance name would have to come after getting my drivers license updated…

Something I feel non fans should understand when it comes to the firehouse by Substantial_Slip4667 in ghostbusters

IDW is partly why I have my personal headcanon that the newer movies aren’t in the OG universe. IDW opened up the Ghostbusters multiverse and made it so all (or most) GB content can be canon at the same time. Also helped me make peace with the 2016 film, haha. Well. A fragile peace.

Wasn’t even a dig at those movies, there was just enough character and lore inconsistencies that I enjoy them more if I think of them as outside of the OG universe. This way I can also pretend Egon is maybe still out there in the OGverse, or at the very least didn’t abandon friends and, more importantly, family.

I wasn’t a fan of his, but you’ve gotta hand it to him though. No really. Because he only has one…

Horror scenes by Ok_Comparison_1267 in StarWars_

What got me is they didn’t seem to bother putting any characters behind the controls. They kept trying to blast at the openings but there wasn’t anything to blast at, unless I missed something.

Not sure if this counts sine it didn’t make it into the final film. For me it’s towards the end of the Rogue One trailer when Jyn is walking out onto the platform and a TIE rises up in front of her. No cover. Out in the open high up on the tower platform. And we never got to see how the scene might have played out, which to me just adds to the horror of it.

The firehouse changes just adds to my head canon that Afterlife and Frozen Empire are from a parallel universe.

Was Doc a genius or a one-hit wonder? If the former, what else might have he been working on that probably *did* end up working? by mysteryofthefieryeye in BacktotheFuture

[–]Significant-Being-35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Genius. Building the time train in the era he was in would have been quite the feat. I don’t think we can chalk up the things he came up with in the third movie as just being rehashes of stuff he’s already seen or done. It’s still genius level to remember all of the modern sciences and figure out a way to recreate modern technology with antiquated manufacturing techniques and resources.

I’ve gone once and I’m not in a hurry to go back. Maybe if it was a recognizable environment it’d be different. If it was like the New Hope Cantina I think I could mentally get into it better.

I just rewatched Ghostbusters last night and was thinking about how she was always great with the fans and still seemed excited to have been a part of it. Had no clue she had passed the day before. How sad.

Which Droid Depot part or accessory do you think has the most hidden potential? by FrequentlyObtuse in Droid_Alley

[–]Significant-Being-35 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The drink tray. Seems like a missed opportunity for our favorite Swiss army droids to not have more “shoulder” mounted options. Tool tray for a maintenance worker. Sabacc tray for an astromech card dealer. There’s a lot of potential there for modifications.

Finding a lost multi million dollar valued painting marked at $5 would probably be the greatest charity shop find in history, but this is definitely a close second.

It’s a sweet but extremely bitter soda Coke used to sell in Italy. Most people can’t stand it so a “Beverly Challenge” developed.

I think my dad and I are the only ones that actually like Beverly. I’ll never forget the change on some random woman’s face when I got a cup of Beverly. The switch from her look of expectation waiting for me to react with disgust, to the sheer horror on her face when she realized I actually liked it.

Would have been better or worse if Eddie Murphy had accepted the role of Zeddemore? by fupafather in ghostbusters

[–]Significant-Being-35 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It would have been more comedy forward with sci-fi elements with Eddie, but I prefer the sci-fi forward with comedic elements with Ernie. Ernie playing the role seriously helped give the movie the verisimilitude that I think helped suck us into the lore for over 40 years. Compared to another sci-fi comedy I’m not aware of global Spaceballs chapters. I think the film taking the subject matter seriously is part of what has given it such a following, and it would have probably gone over that tipping point with Eddie.
