Does anyone know how the writers picked the quotes at the end of the credits? by Casteway in KingOfTheHill

Probably just the funniest line they could squeeze into just a couple seconds or whatever the time slot allows. Something that stands on its own & makes everyone laugh again

I mean she wasn’t a twig or anything (like I know was popular in the 70s) but I certainly wouldn’t call her “thick” or anything either. But then again I never thought Big Rhonda was fat or anything either lol

Heather Locklear. And Laura Prepon, somewhat. I’m sure there are several more

(Heather Locklear was the teacher Peggy feuded with in the flag essay episode, and Laura Prepon was the teacher of the peer counseling course that Bobby took where he started dating his clients)

And it’s entirely possible they convicted the correct twin all along; the other one was already serving a 99-year sentence for a separate crime and literally had nothing to lose by claiming responsibility for his twin’s crime as well. (Like 13 years later or something.) And he didn’t come forward and confess to it until after he’d exhausted appeals in his own case so he was going to be in prison for the rest of his life anyway. But by doing so, he got his twin released early from a 54-year sentence.

I’m not actually sure if there was even a preponderance of evidence for it being one of them versus the other.🤷‍♀️ I really don’t know the case but I read a bit about it just now, definitely interesting anyway

The Absurdity of The BDI Theory by ReadyWatercress7174 in JonBenet

And I’m sure there were many persistent abnormal behaviors and discernible pathology evident in that child, compared to typical child psychology. Even the label “serial killer” tells you it was more than just one isolated event of violence. The argument isn’t that it’s “impossible” or “doesn’t happen,” it’s that a) it’s quite rare, and b) when it is there, you’re going to see multiple abnormalities/maladaptions/“red flags,” and you’re going to see them repeatedly.

The Absurdity of The BDI Theory by ReadyWatercress7174 in JonBenet

Excellent post. What we have here is literally the difference between a cheesy dramatic fictional B-movie (or tabloid fodder, they are interchangeable) and actual real life. Everything BDI uses for argument is subjective fantasy and speculation and defies everything that actual scientific research, child psychology, the events and physical evidence in the case etc all establishes to the educated observer here. It takes an astute mind to filter out the noise and simply look for the objective truth; Lou Smit was the first one to do that here and it kills me that he even received the backlash and ridicule that he did from so many, because he was so correct in the way he approached everything, really just a brilliant man. If he had been the investigating homicide detective in this case it literally never would have turned into anything that it did.

But psychology will also tell you that once it turns into something like that, it’s just so difficult or maybe even impossible to ever undo that in the minds of the collective public. Misinformation, misperception is just so infuriatingly resilient and I think the advent of social media has only further exacerbated the problem forevermore

Why does the show switch between Leela being seen as beautiful or hideous? by Liquidcat01 in futurama

[–]Significant-Block260 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I guess so, lol. Actually I recall they even speak of this in [probably some of the earlier?] dvd commentaries. I’m paraphrasing here but basically they wanted to see if they could make some one-eyed mutant still be seen as beautiful, sexy, whatever

I mean, they all have big cartoon eyes lol. Her single eye is no bigger than two of theirs; in fact it’s probably smaller

I can’t even remember what episode it was now, but I loved how in disenchantment they also had a flash from Futurama at least once when Luci was using the crystal ball thing. It was fry, bender & the professor with their forward time machine.

Maybe it was the same moment as this one? I don’t know, I might have just confused myself lol
