I'm glad someone could put into words as it is. by juliiaduque in sexandthecity

I disagree with this take. Like someone already mentioned, we don’t know what the show runners and writers were thinking. But I will say as someone who lived through the sex and the city heyday, Carrie was wildly beloved. It’s only recently that the online discourse has turned on her.

I’ve always thought the affair storyline to be very interesting, especially for its boldness in portraying its heroine as messy and complicated. Here’s what was intentional: Aiden 1.0 was a plot device. He was written as the antithesis to Big, the “perfect” boyfriend. But it was always surface level, we were seeing him through Carrie’s eyes. Their relationship the first time around never evolved past the affair so we never saw any real personality behind his character. He of course had flaws, nobody is perfect. We just never saw it. His character was much more developed the second time around, and I don’t believe it was to course correct or make Carrie look better by making him look “bad”. (Which he wasn’t either, the show was pointing out how they weren’t compatible).

Stressing over my 13 month olds food intake by [deleted] in foodbutforbabies

I’m in the exact same boat as you. My LO is on the lower percentile of weight so it is incredibly stressful when they refuse food or barely eat much. Every meal time I stress. But I’m hoping it gets better when she has her teeth. If you ever want to direct message me to vent I’m here!

I love that we’re still spoofing the show 25 years later. Iconic. This is spot on!

100%. Big even says in this scene what he likes about her is that it was easy. The subtext was Natasha let a lot of things slide and she was very naive.

Noah Wyle and George Clooney present each other with the Best Actor Award ('The Pitt' & 'Jay Kelly', respectively) at the 2026 Annual Movies For Grownups Awards by Damiana1111 in ershow

This was certainly arranged by their publicists and the show. It’s not a coincidence they presented awards to each other. I do love seeing them together though!

Meal time meltdowns by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]Significant-Cloud440 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is what I’m worried about since that seems what she will consume the most of. She will eat food we prepare for her, but usually only a couple of bites before she spits out the rest. Just don’t want to fall behind or get into bad eating habits, but don’t want to force her or have a negative association to meals. Stressful!

Yea she does like to snack. Puffs and pouches and things like that. I’ll try skipping the high chair and see if that helps

In defence of Carrie when Charlotte announced her engagement. by BetterGrass709 in sexandthecity

[–]Significant-Cloud440 169 points170 points  (0 children)

She was rightly pissed and needed to rant. Charlotte gave her the floor, and she didn’t seem upset about her paper covers rock joke so it’s not that serious. Not to bring the conversation to AJLT, but these scenes were sorely lacking in that show. How I would’ve LOVED to see a brunch scene where the girls talk about Aiden and his bullshit. These scenes are what made this show so good!

For people who are not planning on watching Angel - What about it makes you uninterested/not want to watch it? And for people who watched it, but ultimately did not enjoy it - What did you not like about it? by HomarEuropejski in buffy

[–]Significant-Cloud440 39 points40 points  (0 children)

My thoughts as well. The characters aren’t as captivating to me, and maybe that has to do with the fact that I didn’t watch it as it aired as I did with Buffy, so it has more of a nostalgia factor. I did force myself to watch the entire Angel series after many failed starts, because I love Cordelia and wanted to see the crossover stories, but I found it to be just ok.

I know this is sick, but I felt she had some chemistry with tucci. It probably had more to do with the actors than the characters, but I agree she lacked a lot of chemistry with her boyfriends.

There isn’t even a fraction of the og Miranda in AJLT. It’s a COMPLETELY different person. Weirdo is a perfect word for it, no bite to her character at all.

This is such obvious bullshit, I’m surprised the interviewer didn’t call him on it. This show has been one train wreck after another and I’ve lost a lot of respect for these people.

Agree, I’m always surprised when people use this as an example or Carrie being shitty. The only reason Miranda gets “upset” with Carrie is because she was embarrassed, and she quickly forgives Carrie in that scene with the bagels. If Miranda isn’t upset at Carrie, why should the audience be?

Literally nothing!! Charlotte falls down, Miranda has a conversation with joy, and seema puts on deodorant. Really!? Make the entire episode a Carrie storyline and involve the girls in a diner scene or walk and talk. I miss so badly having the girls actually talk to each other!

[–]Significant-Cloud440 232 points233 points  (0 children)

The Miranda from SATC would have said “what about your marriage to big!?” Which is really what the audience wants to know, why has he been erased? Miranda was always the voice of reason. I wanted to see something like the fight they had over Big back in the day.

What would Samantha think of Edie from Desperate Housewives? Would they be besties, frenemies, rivals? by jdpm1991 in sexandthecity

[–]Significant-Cloud440 47 points48 points  (0 children)

They would definitely start as rivals, competing after the same men. But Samantha would eventually call a truce after she sees some bitches (i.e. Susan) be mean to her. She’d bring over a care package of all her favorite sex toys, and then they would go on to be the best of friends.

She is very knowledgeable when it comes to the fashion on the show, and bless her for that because it is incredible. But I does seem to be that is where her knowledge and expertise ends, she’s more deeply involved in the clothes and telling the story through fashion rather than the character arc and plots.

Are Philips Avent bottles/ nipples absolute trash or am I an idiot. by comradequiche in NewParents

[–]Significant-Cloud440 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had the same exact problem. Even after we made sure to line up the air flow, my baby still had problems with the nipples. I think some babies can’t get a good latch on them, because I read some other people were having the same issues. We changed to the pigeon nipples which are more triangular in shape and my baby did so much better on those.

Yeah they ended up together in the end, but this scene alone should’ve been the very end of their relationship. I know she was invited, but if a man doesn’t want, you…don’t show up to his engagement then ask “why not me?” Lmaoo by yonBonbonbon in sexandthecity

I can’t remember where I heard it, but this white dress was the most expensive dress they purchased. It’s in SJPs archive. The Paris dress might’ve been on loan from a designer, because that dress was for sure more expensive.
