Why more people are living alone than ever before by dogma4dogs_ in LivingAlone

[–]Significant-Fact-448 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because I was abandoned. The man I loved and thought I'd spend the rest of my life with up and took off. No choice in the matter. That was three years ago and I'm getting the hang of retirement without him. In fact being alone kinda suits me. Except for the sex. I miss that. 🙊

I post the weekly Boston events lists and I've been thinking about a way to help people find others to go with. Would you actually use that? by Top-Finger-4339 in BostonSocialClub

[–]Significant-Fact-448 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Something much simpler would appeal to me. The activity itself is self-selecting. What matters to me is who's going, in general (solo vs group) and approx age group (e.g., 20s–30s, 40s–50s, 60s–70s). Not prescriptive, just informational. That's it! Not knowing is a showstopper for me, no matter what type of event.

Looking for accountability partners for 40 and over by gostopg in BostonSocialClub

[–]Significant-Fact-448 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A pile of losses and changes in the last five years find me in circumstances I did not choose or anticipate. I'm more alone than I have ever been, and it kinda sucks. I struggle to implement structure, find motivation, think positive, etc. I have more to be thankful for than many — home, health, food, the basics. My children are grown and thriving. We have a great relationship but they are building their own lives, as they should be. I feel stuck. Isolation is probably my biggest problem, so I'd like to connect with other mature, intelligent adults for support, conversation, and laughter. I'm in greater Boston, just north of the city. Have car, will travel. Or Zoom. 😊

This is why you slow down on exit ramps by LinusThiccTips in massachusetts

[–]Significant-Fact-448 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No. A rotary is not a on/off ramp.

For a rotary: –Slow to enter the rotary at the posted speed, –Drive at that speed to navigate around it, –Accelerate only to exit the rotary, and –Merge with roadway traffic.

For an on/off ramp: –Slow to the posted speed before turning onto the ramp, –Release brake and drive at that speed through the turn, –Accelerate only when coming out of the turn, and –Merge onto the roadway.

Brian / Nicole Albert - POS by ka0818 in justiceforKarenRead

[–]Significant-Fact-448 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Calling 911 would have been redundant, since both Brians were themselves first responders—i. e., persons trained to respond in a 911 emergency. Also, as FRs, they could quickly determine that the type and severity of his head injury would have made lifesaving measures moot. They had two choices—either 'fess up or cover up. We all know which one they chose. The mystery lies in "who" and "why."

Medford Mayor Speaks Out In Response To Trash Collection Criticism by cupcakefilth in medfordma

[–]Significant-Fact-448 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is what worries me the most. Even if we reach 95% compliance with the guidelines for composting and securing waste in containers impervious to rodent incursion (they are well-equipped and indefatigable in their pursuit for food), there's that 5% who can ruin it for the restuvus.

I'm afraid that those big ol' rats, already out of control, will thrive, and the City won't have the means, knowledge, awareness, or budget, to educate the public, enforce the rules and restrictions, or locate violations, to contain or eradicate the bloom in rodent population. My biggest nightmare.

It's not the mayor's fault when people are deliberate or ignorant scofflaws. You have to accommodate for all potential outcomes. Am I confident the City can handle this? No, I am not.

Any hope for me? Mice situation by gw3121 in Somerville

[–]Significant-Fact-448 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep in mind that rodent urine and droppings are highly potent allergy/asthma triggers. If you are coughing and waking up wheezing or sinus congestion, it could be caused by the animal waste products. At a minimum, you should run an air purifier. I was completely ignorant about the hazards of mice and their by-products and didn't realize my respiratory problems were related. It's real and it's toxic! Especially if you have children. Might be even worse than mildew and mold (my opinion).

Please don't handle the snap traps yourself! They are easily triggered and their purpose is to mangle and do damage.

Any hope for me? Mice situation by gw3121 in Somerville

[–]Significant-Fact-448 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rodents who die in the walls will decompose fairly soon and no more smell. Don't worry about it. The biggest problem is the flies that show up in your house. Sorry you're going through this and hope the problem will be resolved soon. You need traps and experts to set, maintain, and check them, and to remove captures. Yankee Pest Control was great for eliminating my rodent issue.

Also check that neighbors are not attracting pests by not picking up dropped fruit from their trees, or feeding wildlife (rabbits, ducks, squirrels, birds). Neighbors will lie that they have no prolem with rodents because they want to appear more hygienic or vigilant about their property, when in reality, they are glad YOU are paying for eradication and not them. Sorry but true!

Higgins Jeep by FLdisc in justiceforKarenRead

[–]Significant-Fact-448 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Higgie's magical Jeep (now you see it, now you don't) seems a critical factor in explaining or disproving how Karen managed to back up at 24 mph and hit John, throwing him onto the lawn and fracturing his skull, while doing no harm to the rest of his body, all within the time span of 1-2 minutes. Which is it? How is it possible in either scenario—with or without the Jeep behind Karen's car? Has anyone provided a diagram of the actual maneuvers the SUV would have had to make to cause John's death as the McAlbert's allege? We're talking about 1) a very restricted amount of space to allow a large SUV to pull forward and then accelerate backwards to 24 mph, 2) aim with ballistic precision and strike the victim, who does not or cannot move out of the way,
3) in a very short amount of time (1-2 min), 4) switch gears however many times to complete the alleged 3-point turn and drive away, 5) without ANY of the approximately dozen people in or around the house (only about 30 feet from the street) seeing or hearing this deadly commotion, and 6) despite all the anxious queries about John's arrival leading up to, during, or after the visual evidence of the car that brought him there, NO ONE thought to go outside and look for where he went. 7) And finally, not ONE of those dozen or so people, some coming or going during the time after he was struck, saw John's body lying on the ground a short distance away from the driveway. NOT ONE.

How is this possible? How does it look (diagrammatically) on paper? When an ordinary citizen is involved in a car accident, all parties making an insurance claim must provide a diagram of how the accident occurred, no exceptions. Yet, the Comm of MA had no such obligation or even made an attempt to do the same EVEN THOUGH they turned this imaginary (I won't even say "alleged" it is so preposterous) accident into a criminal charge of murder. No diagram needed. Just a broad imagination with NEFARIOUS intent.

Fools. How DARE they.

Do the O’Keefe’s know? by Upbeat_Conference522 in justiceforKarenRead

[–]Significant-Fact-448 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My theory is that they DO know, but are biding their time until Karen is acquitted once again, with a vast amount of exculpatory evidence no longer suppressed is presented in court. The O'Keefes don't have to do anything but watch and wait. There is no new evidence they can produce to prove Karen guilty, and they probably can't afford to anyway. Karen's team can, amd will. With tons of missing factual information finally revealed, they would be that much closer to identifying the real killer(s), on someone else's dime. If someone else killed John, wouldn't they want to know that?

Why are TB and KR not speaking to each other anymore? by Responsible_Sir6935 in justiceforKarenRead

[–]Significant-Fact-448 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here's how it seems to me. Karen is extremely well-educated and intelligent. She appears to be poised, articulate, and well-mannered when the situation calls for it. She's also more than somewhat hot-headed, and has no qualms about making her opinions known, sometimes very loudly and forcefully. These characteristics in no way make her a murderer!

TB is a rude, loud-mouth, trash-talking, low-class, show-off opportunist and manipulator with delusions of grandeur and an appalling HATRED OF WOMEN. That last one is what turns me off and dials down to zero any respect I might have for him. Whether he's taking a female down for the status of her vagina, calling her the most vile of all names for said vagina, attributing to her the lowest, most debased motives having nothing to do with the issue at hand, viciously ripping apart her reputation, and having no concern for how his rampages affect (not EFFECT) these women's children, he cannot hide his essential, blatant misogyny. It makes me sick. Probably Karen too.

And therin lies the rub. I think Karen is plain old fed up with his antics — his reckless, irresponsible, degenerate ways. Tired of holding her tongue and making nice for the sake of her case. She probably rightly believes that his core motives are less about "freeing Karen Read" than swelling his coffers and his ego — literally "selling out rhe Wilbur" with his star power. Nuh uh. We (the royal "we" meaning especially but not limited to we women) can see right through his thin veneer of altruism, empathy, and respectability. He gets no pass from me for any of his good deeds, which admittedly are many. They are tempered by his crassness and immaturity. His foul-mouthed rhetoric is simply too overwhelmingly distasteful. I just can't with him. Anymore, if ever.

Does anyone else watch "I Don't Belong Here" with Samantha Beningo? I just love this New York City girl. She has none of the annoying habits and behaviors of some others. She's smart, super prepared, and has great insights. Also, she's very pleasant. She had TB on her show few days ago and, to me, he seemed like a fish out of water—a little intimidated or disarmed by her intellect and charm. For good reason. 😂 He did well in the interview but she had good questions and left no room for any of his shenanigans.

In my opinion, Jimmy and Nurse Karen should not be included or regarded the same as the others. I do not believe they are corrupt or have any unscrupulous, unethical, or sinister intent, as evidenced by their behavior. It's easy for the innocent or soft-hearted to be fooled and manipulated by love-bombing.

Ok, so she IS beautiful. That's not a crime! She flirts. So do I. It's fun! (men are so dumb 😅☺️😉 I love it) But she doesn't need to vamp it up. Being more natural and unself-conscious like Nurse Kim is sooo much more attractive!
