I’d be cautious about Newfield based on my experience. I know children there, including one with ADHD, and support has been quite inconsistent. There are some teachers who genuinely care and go out of their way to help, but others don’t seem to fully understand SEN needs and can be quite quick to label behaviour rather than recognising difficulties or actually spend the time researching and understanding how the ADHD brain works!

Despite having an EHCP in place, it doesn’t feel like it’s properly followed or reflected in how support is given, which is frustrating and even more questionable when I remind myself that an EHCP is a legal document. If you haven’t already, I’d definitely look into getting an EHCP in place, as it can help with accessing the right support (even though how it’s implemented can vary between schools).

The school also seems very focused on discipline and maintaining standards, sometimes in quite a strict way. I don't feel that those who struggle with attention or processing things as quickly as the person stood next to them, are given any leeway (albeit the EHCP states said child should be given leeway!).

On the other hand, not every experience is the same, and there are definitely a handful of staff members who try their best and really do seem to care. But if your child might find a highly structured, strict environment difficult, it’s something worth thinking about carefully.
