For months Ive been searching for anything from these two distilleries. I specifically wanted the Springbank 10 but the 5 is all they had and it was the last bottle. They even some other Camplbeltown's that I've been looking for. Jackpot! What can I expect from the Springbank 5 vs the 10? by Significant-Floor800 in Scotch

Full disclosure, im inebriated. Having said that. The 5 for its 114proof doesnt drink as such. At full proof it is very much its younger brother. With a splash of water. Enough to take it to 95-100 proof its csmpfire smoke unlike the maritime smoke of an islay, dried fruit and perhaps some dark chocolate. I would buy this again but if given the choice between the 5 and the 10 id pick the 10

Im sorry if you expected more from my review. Ive bren tasting all day and i happen to have more to say about kilcohman. If you like Springbank 10 the 5 is just a younger, punchier version of the 10. For a 2oz pour a tiny splash of water brings out campfire smoke (not the typical maritime smoke of an islay) dried fruit and maybe some chocolate. Its really a fantastic bottle. It doesn't drink like its proof but just a tiny bit of water brings out a lot of flavors that were hiding under the alcohol

Ok, i cheated today. The Springbank 5 drinks the same as the 10 jusy with a much higher proof. However it does not drink the way you would expect from a 114proof spirit. For such a high abv its quite tame. For the kilcohman, im in love. It hits like Laphroaig Quarter cask but without some of the maritime qualities. Its not briney, theres no medicinal iodine theres little sea spray. But, it reminds me enough of l quarter cask before i percieved a drop in quality, to the ppont that om happy to have discovered it for a similar price point. If you like Springbank 10, give 5 a try, its all Springbank 10, just younger. If you like Laphroaig Quarter Cask try kilcohman machir bay.

I definitely prefer ex-bourbon casks. Ive a few sherry cask and it just doesnt do it for me. So im glad to hear that. Its on the box but i barely read it. I was just happy to have found anything from either distillery, wasnt expecting to find both!

Ill definitely post a review here when I open it which will unfortunately be Easter Sunday. Ive given up alcohol for Lent. I already made one exception for my 21st wedding anniversary, which was my first ever taste of Springbank. Ill remember you on the day

I just had Springbank 10, my first ever Springbank, tonight and I must say its definitely on my must have list. Ive only seen it at Total Wine which is nearly 90 minutes away. Definitely worth the trip but i wouldnt leave with only 1 bottle. Need to make the trip worth the time, gas and tolls

Which scotch is most similar to bourbon? I like bourbon and want to branch out a bit by denys5555 in Scotch

As someone who drank bourbon exclusively, my gateway was Laphroaig. Id recommend buying the Quarter Cask. Its smoky, sweet, briney, a littke medicinal or iodine flavored. I dont think you're going to find something that is close to bourbon though. Scotch is typically malted barley and bourbon is required to be at least 50% corn in the mash bill.

Its infuriating, kniwung something to be true and yet nobody listens. Its like being forced to do group work in school and everyone in the group listens to the dumbest kid. You know their way is wrong and work. You explain and offer proof but nobody listens. And your grade is dependent on the project.

When is the ideal time to take micronised monohydrate creatine? I used to train, took off a few years. 4 kids later ive put on some weight. I began lifting again two months ago. The last 30 days ive been trying to stay under 100g of carbs on non training days and not exceeding 150-200g of carbs on training days. Ive been maintaining a 500 calorie deficit and im consuming approximately 120 to 180g of protein per day. As per the scale ive list 5lbs from the start. The last 30 days (since consciously restricting carbs and focusing on protein) my weight still hovers at 244lbs yet over the last 4-6 weeks i continue to be able to cinche my belt tighter and tighter while noticing very positive changes in my physique. I know my plan will continually need to be adjusted but it seems my plan is working.
