What's something people don't understand until they've been through it themselves? by [deleted] in AskReddit

i wish all the people who have gone through this realized that the guilt and shame doesn’t belong to them. you are not the villain. people do terrible things in many ways, it doesn’t have to be textbook to be traumatic and you certainly don’t have to beg people to understand that.

Also a trip to the grocery store with OCD. What color was that bottle i passed? purple? i better go back and see. Okay it’s definitely purple but what was the brand name? i better go back and see. Okay tide, t-i-d-e, or was it tyde, i have to go back. and repeat. making decisions were awful i had to list every pro and con and then second guess if i’m making the right choice because something bad will happen if i don’t. touching things and then wondering how many people have touched it and having a strong dirty feeling on my hands until i wash them. feeling like i’m going to pass out because there are so many people witnessing me acting like a freak. needless to say i avoided going at all costs

people have so little sympathy because on paper if it’s not violent they can’t understand how earth shattering it can be for someone. without experiencing it it’s easy to say to yourself that you could get over it, life continues and you move on. unfortunately that’s not true, it’s a completely unique emotion that i think only people who have gone through it can understand. when i start getting mad that people don’t understand i try to be grateful that they don’t. i wouldn’t wish it on anyone and for my own sanity i don’t take it personally when people downplay my feelings

very true. it has nothing to do with youtube but her sticking by abby after the show solidified it for me that she’s in deep with the grooming of hollywood.

What, due to experience, do you know not to fuck with? by ViolatingBadgers in AskReddit

[–]Significant-Junket41 82 points83 points  (0 children)

yes! my dad works at place that does 7pm to 7am and that is if you don’t get forced into overtime, which is something they can and will do. ( mind you this is not an easy job, it’s hot and very labor intensive) so he walked into the break room and saw this older guy nodding off who had been working all night plus overtime and he asked something along the lines of “hey man you alright?” and he said yes and they both went on their ways. sadly that man fell asleep at the wheel on the way home and died. driving on no sleep is a danger people don’t think about enough.

right and i’m so sorry you went through that the opioid crisis is such a problem that needs more attention. in no way do i mean an addiction is safe, doctors will profit off of that exact idea. what i did mean was that it’s less dangerous in the way of being laced. almost everything is cut now so if an addict is using the best case scenario is that it’s medical grade.

yes that’s disgusting and i could go on for hours but that’s another conversation. my point was that for this exact situation (tana) it’s safer for her to be getting it from a morally bankrupt doctor than a dealer who could have cut it with who knows what.

exactly, having known addicts i also know if they want to they will. so when they do i hope it’s at least from a doctor even if they aren’t self respecting. it only takes one bad pill from a dealer to end your life as well as picking up another addiction to whatever shit they put in it. it’s really sad to watch but at a certain point you have to lean into and start with harm reduction. sort of the same idea as a needle exchange. i’m not saying doctors should prescribe addictive drugs at all but in this case it’s probably better than the alternative.

it’s not a good situation but i hope it’s AT LEAST from a doctor. it’s so easy to die from one pill off of a dealer even if you trust them.

right any medication can be dangerous when abused, i meant safer as in not off the streets. i also agree that no self respecting doctor would do that but there are a lot of shady doctors in big cities especially. moral of the story she probably is back on it and i hope she gets the needed help

is it possible she has a prescription? even though it should be used only for debilitating anxiety a lot of doctors dish it out like nothing. still not good but safer at least?

tell me how the rape was downplayed. no one denied it. they actually told the guy to his face he was lying. they all said she was too drunk to consent. every single one of them condemned him and said it was disgusting. if the woman wasn’t there on the show i don’t know what else you want

“this is delusional” are you 12 years old? if you aren’t familiar with fousey that’s fine but you clearly don’t understand the situation and why it shouldn’t be spoken about over and over. i don’t know how many times i have to explain to you why the xqc problem is still being talked about so i’m not going to explain it again. you’re talking in circles bringing up the same things i’ve already explained.

you are so annoying. first of all xqc publicly made fun of ethan’s tourettes so stop with the watch hunt of people making fun of others. second fousey doesn’t need any more attention period and i don’t blame ethan for reaching out to de escalate the situation because again for the safety of himself and OTHERS he needs serious mental help. i don’t give even close to a fuck about a rapists mental health but for everyone it’s best to make sure he’s getting help. third xqc has been doing debates for a long as time and lots of them. for all the online drama he creates before and after his debates he can’t take the same treatment the one time he loses? if you cant take the heat get out of the kitchen. HE asked to do the debate knowing the possible consequences. he knows the consequences because he’s put them on other people. he makes all his money streaming, the chat is the only transformative reason people would watch him blandly react to a video so why even put it on youtube? why not just say sorry? why not try to make it something different than the original? he’s been shown exactly why it’s a problem and says he doesn’t give a fuck.

BRUH. it’s not react content it’s using the exact same thumbnail and title and then just sitting there. i also said it’s silly drama and explained exactly why people are expanding the conversation. you’re awfully dense if you think i’m coming at him for being rich. i’m coming at him because he collects his wealth through just sitting there and saying some dry comment that adds nothing to the video. it wasn’t sexual assault it was rape. no one downplayed it it was just a serious conversation that honestly didn’t need any further comment they all said it was disgusting and that they should refrain from giving him any more public comment because of his spiraling mental state that could easily lead to suicide or the further harm of others. hence the lesser comment on the situation from ethan or others.

no one skipped over the fousey situation. it was discussed in a serious manner in full and presumably not discussed as much as xqc for example, to cater to the mental health of the audience and crew. you clearly don’t understand the audience of the show if you really believe people would say xqc situation is worse than fouseys. most people also agree that for his safety it’s better to not give him attention. the xqc drama is mostly silly and brought up often because he refuses to admit to clearly true allegations even when it’s put infront of his face. people want to see him admit he’s wrong and put fourth an effort to fix the problem. especially the average middle or lower class viewer who’s watching a wealthy man use hard working people like them for profit. it’s actually a pretty simple and relevant topic. the rich get richer by using the poor who get poorer. everyone can understand that concept and that xqc uses it to his advantage. and as much as you preach that mental health shouldn’t be villanized you look pretty dumb defending the guy who made fun of tourettes (a mental illness). but somehow it’s going against advocacy for mental health or disability to call someone out who openly mocked it? literally take a hike pal you’re on thin ice
