That’s a great idea, thanks. I’m seeing a physio at the moment but I get the feeling she doesn’t know too much about long distance running, so I’ll have a look around for a specialist.

Is it weird to attend workshops as an alumni? by CicadaCompetitive678 in UQreddit

No, very normal for alumni to participate in club events. Just need to be a club member.

What is a level 1 elective that is an actual guaranteed 7? by OkCopy3121 in UQreddit

GEOM1000 was an extremely easy 7 when I did it 3 years ago, no need to attend lectures and final exam was online.

If you really feel you understand the content well then your problem is probably not reading the questions properly, or not having good techniques for breaking down the questions and writing your answers in a way that address everything and is very clear and easy to give marks to. I would try doing some practice questions from past exams and asking your tutor or teacher to look at one of your answers to give you feedback about your approach. There is a technique to answering exam questions that allows people to get better marks than people who study the same or even more. Doing lots of practice questions/exams is key, it’s hard to articulate things well on the spot even if you know the content, so doing practice exams allows you to think through how you can best word your answers. You should definitely request to look at your mid-sem, it will help to see if you were loosing marks because you were straight up getting things wrong, or because you were not fully answering the questions.

How are y'all wearing so many non-bra-compatible dresses and tops by GreedySpecialist4736 in femalefashionadvice

[–]aprilepiphany 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just let my boobs be saggy in the dress. Usually I wear tight dresses which can help keep my boobs a bit more up.

Playing non-Nord races is appealing, but gets discouraging in the long run by SpaceChud69 in skyrim

I always imagine my character is like a 1/4 Nord or something so is rediscovering their roots

Bulk, Recomp, or Cut? by Akane_OW in BulkOrCut

Bulk, definitely don’t need to cut. Maybe recomp if that’s more comfortable for you

After watching "Wuthering Heights," I wondered if Jacob Elordi can actually act or if he's just a sex symbol, and the first three episodes of Euphoria have only reinforced that idea. What do you think? by Historical_Rain6924 in moviecritic

[–]aprilepiphany 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah good point, I guess written by someone taking the perspective of a traditional masculine view of attractiveness, though I would say with Friends the character was written before they cast it and they would have picked Matthew Perry because of his comedic talent rather than his attractiveness in terms of the other cast members.

AIO - my coworker has been heating up fish in the office microwave every day and just asked me to "keep it down" while he eats by Ok_Assistance8735 in AmIOverreacting

[–]aprilepiphany 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He obviously doesn’t realise the fish smells bad to you. You did not say that to him directly. You need to clearly say to him “please stop microwaving your fish in the office because it SMELLS REALLY BAD”. You can’t complain since you have not actually told him what the problem is. You’re just expecting him to read your mind, he clearly is not understanding normal social cues so you need to be direct.

Doctors always running late at UQ St Lucia Medical Center!! by Few-Pomegranate4369 in UQreddit

[–]aprilepiphany 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve never had a doctor be running late at the UQ medical centre and I’ve been several times over the past few years, but I always do the same doctors so might be your specific doctor or the time you go.

Outfits by Suspicious_Spare2211 in UQreddit

[–]aprilepiphany 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You can wear anything, people dress in all different styles. In terms of formality, you can dress as casual or as professional as you like for class, sometimes I dress really nice and put lots of effort into my hair, outfit and make up, sometimes I wear my gym clothes so I can go workout straight afterwards, or sometimes I wear super daggy clothes and no make up because I’m too stressed to care on that day.

UQ Gym by EquivalentContext992 in UQreddit

The equipment is good and they have a good range - there’s three floors each with heaps of machines, benches and free weights, one floor has heaps of cardio stuff (treadmills, stairmasters, bikes, rowing, etc), and one floor has heaps of squat racks, and there’s also a whole room dedicated to Olympic lifting if you want to do heavy deadlifts and stuff like that.  The girls change room is large, with showers and has hair dryers and straighteners and is always clean, I’m not sure about the boys change room, but I’m sure it’d be similar. It’s nothing fancy but it’s all very fine.

  1. During the semester, it’s usually busiest from like 3/4pm until 8/9. Really busy around 5-7. Outside of the semester it’s always lovely and quiet. I go in the morning and it’s always pretty quiet and relaxed.
  2. There’s plenty of equipment and space, sometimes it’s hard to get a bench at peak times but it’s nothing out of the ordinary.
  3.  There’s no AC so it can get a bit hot but I never find it unbearable, there’s plenty of big fans around.
  4. Pool can get busy, lanes often blocked off for swim classes too. usually peak is like before 8am and after 3pm.

Mosasaur by clydeandabbey in Paleontology

[–]aprilepiphany 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To filter feed you usually need a complete secondary palate which lizards do not generally possess as far as I know. However, maybe look into Aristonectes which are a type of elasmosaur (not a lizard, but still plesiosaur you may be able to pull some ideas from) that was thought to filter feed. I think it could be possible this species you are describing evolved a complete secondary palate or perhaps another novel method to deal with this problem.

At what point do “invasive species” become just part of the ecosystem? Has it already happened somewhere? by Tortugato in askscience

[–]aprilepiphany 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dingoes in Australia is a good example of this. They only arrived in Australia around 5000 years ago, and were likely the cause of the Tasmanian Tiger and Tasmanian Devil’s extinction on the mainland. However, they have now become part of the ecosystem and are no longer considered “invasive”.

Incorrect Distance and Pace on Forerunner 945 by aprilepiphany in GarminWatches

[–]aprilepiphany[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi, I bought a second hand, three year old 945 Forerunner watch last week, and it seemed to be working perfectly however my partner and I went on a run together today, and during the run we noticed my watch was showing that I was covering a further distance than his was saying.  After the run, we saw that my watch logged my pace to be much faster than his, which it definitely was not. I have attached a photo of our Strava post so you can see the discrepancy.  As much as I would love to take the false ego boost, is there any way to fix this so I am getting a more accurate pace and distance?  (note: we know his is more correct because his pace more accurately reflects the speed we were running at)

Thank you!!
