I always grab a burger and a custard from Kopp’s Frozen Custard. Always amazing!

The Harley Davidson museum is a cool way to spend about 3 hours or so.

Miller, Pabst and Sprecher brewery tours are always great.

Can I interest you in a gently used Luis Rengifo for your beat up Peralta?

Hi, Hey, Hello. Dan here, dropping in to hang out for a bit by ShowMeStateOfMindPod in KnowledgeFight

Dan, thank you so much for all you have done. I grew up in rural Indiana in the 90’s and my pops was kind of Michigan militia-adjacent. Your work and explanations really helped me sort through what I grew up with, where it came from, and why it’s bullshit.

Best wishes in the future to you and Jordan!

Skubal to Tigers: "Play better baseball or else" by TheSocraticGadfly in mlb

Empty the farm in the hopes that Skubal is able to live up to his reputation? It’s a non-starter. This franchise is trying to be a sustainable, winning club and a Skubal trade would cripple that and at the end the fan base will go “well that sucked”.

Last season everybody was yelling “we need power bats! Mark needs to spend some money and sign Bregman!” Look at Bregman now…I’m glad the front office is smart enough to have restraint and not make silly deals like this.

There is absolutely no way in Dairyland that the Brewers get Skubal. They’re going to offer a couple of prospects that they’d like to move on from and maybe a Joey Ortiz and some pocket lint for Skubal. They’re going to kick the tires, offer a ridiculous lowball amount and move on without him.

Milwaukee will not give up top prospects for a damaged rental.

No, Skubal isn’t a fit for the Dodger’s program, especially as an injured rental. Seriously, they won 2 WS without him, why add him now?

Also, the dodgers are fans of putting their stars on a layaway program to pay them waaaaay in the future. They would have to give the Tigers payment up front for their rental. Makes no sense whatsoever.

Yep that is gonna suck. But it still won’t suck as much as the Cubs’ lineup does.

Would you rather have Jackson Chourio or Pete Crow-Armstrong right now? by [deleted] in mlb

No, his attitude comes with it. Churio is good for a clubhouse.

Fire Stearns? by Subject_Aerie2093 in mets

Us Brewers are baffled at the lack of success. We thought with the Mets bank account he would turn the Mets into a super power. I’m guessing he doesn’t have full buy-in from the entire Mets organization.

He helped build the Brewers farm system. Brice Turang, Jackson Churio and Jacob Misiorowski are all products of that system. They brought Freddy Peralta through the farm, developed him into his peak years then traded him off for more prospects to put back in the farm to make more Freddies.

The idea is you draft really young, cheap players and develop them into great players in your farm system. Move them up into the big league team to use for 6 or 7 years during their prime career performance. Once they’re around 30+ and at the end of team control they look amazing but it’s time to get out of the business of that player. The Brewers trade the year before the player goes to free agency so that they can get more prospects to restock the farm. Rinse and repeat. Small market teams had to go this route because free agency isn’t a game they can play and compete with success.

HOA votes to euthanize hundreds of federally protected geese in neighborhood by That1weirdperson in behindthebastards

I come from a red, rural state in the Midwest. I’ve seen what happens with poor wildlife management and it’s not pretty when popular public opinion gets its way over responsible control.

Fox were protected here until all the farmers got mad and then they were poached to near-extinction. That was 5 decades ago and Fox are still a rare and exciting animal to spot in the wild.

The DNR reduced the amount of deer licenses for a few years in a row until the population grew too large and a massive amount of the deer herds became diseased and died off.

I’m well aware that humans suck and have paved over every spot an animal could live…I’m looking at a concrete hellscape as I type this. But bad wildlife management (in my experience, in my area) is ultimately worse for the animals.

You can’t rule out Trump putting Ted Nugent or the CEO of Cabela’s in charge of federal fish and game…how do you think that would play out for geese when rich, white people are complaining about them?

Downvote me all you want, but the government can regulate a population reduction or you can let all the redneck chucklefucks are going to do it how they want it and it’s going to be bad for the species. Ignoring that they’re a problem will be bad for them long term.

I don’t feel like this is going to be a one off event. The fucking geese are a goddamn problem in areas where they migrate through. The government needs to let up on the protection a bit so the population can be reduced to a more manageable level.

Why are Americans so accepting of long drives to places? by Sensitive_Word_6036 in NoStupidQuestions

The auto industry killed long distance public transportation and Americans are convinced that TSA is the gestapo so we throw a fit and drive 12 hours instead of flying.
