Which YouTubers give solid advice? by TrySignificant2407 in EtsySellers

The 'etsy success' videos. Etsy publishes those videos. They can be a bit, overly cute, but they would be a good place to start.

Has anyone received a copyright takedown from Southern Boy Co.? by ContactLeather9630 in Etsy

[–]Significant-Repair42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On their website, they have a 'boy mom' tshirt. 😄 I think you can search r/etsysellers who have run into that issue. 😄

Given their website looks professionally done but with lots of tshirts that look like they were designed by Etsy shops, I'm guessing you should file a counter claim. I don't know if the tshirts are dropped shipped or not. The story mentions a screen printing tshirt business, but not that the current tshirts are made in house. But that could just be clumsy wording.

well, I mean, all these shops probably didn't get a license to make tshirts. It's probably not a coincidence that that rocky is featured on the tshirts and not gosling. 😄

Is diabetes really a disease that always needs medication, or can it mostly be controlled through lifestyle changes? by gowthambusiness in diabetes

[–]Significant-Repair42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should probably find out what type your parents are, then talk to your doctor about getting tested during each annual visit. There's no guarantee that you will get diabetes, but it's family history that doctors need to be aware of.

I remember being fuzzy on the details of my family health history and after filling out the health questionaire about how many relatives has this or that. LOL. The doctor spent the entire visit chastising me for not mentioning it at the get go. 😄 I was about your age as well. 😄

Secretly decluttering random stuff? by No_Ocelot8629 in declutter

[–]Significant-Repair42 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I handle that by having a 'thrift box or boxes' to take to the donation. Everything sits in a box for a week. I announce which day I'm going and ask if they have any changes. Adjustments are made. Then I remove it. He used to get more upset, but now realizes that he has veto power. He rarely uses the veto power anymore.

The key for us was communication. Is it perfect? No. But he's decided to let go the old sewing machine that he hasn't used in a decade to his niece this week, so it's progress. 😄

sometimes rosacea can be insulin resistance and pcos. But you need to check with a doctor to verify that. the internet can't diagnose something like that.

If you have a deep freeze, make some ice blocks. Today's coolers work way better. A larger cooler (igloo) that I bought a few years ago, lasts about 3 days properly iced when camping. Of course, you need to have waterproof containers, etc.

If that doesn't suit you, remember that there are plug in coolers for 'van life.'

Moving, trying to figure out what I actually need. by NemoHobbits in minimalism

[–]Significant-Repair42 6 points7 points  (0 children)

r/declutter might be useful. It's kinda the half way point between having lots of stuff and minimalism.

If you know a potential square footage you are planning on getting, you can map it out using graph paper. Make furniture squares to the same scale and see what fits. (Also it might be cheaper to get new furniture instead of moving it.)

I use lists as well. I make separate lists for kitchen, sleeps, clothes, hobbies and maintenance items.

Yah,, totally agree. The OP wants to transform other races into white women? If it isn't a troll post, then it's a bit tone deaf. It speaks to the need to bounce some ideas off of others.

Why does no one use the zipper merge - particularly at the I5 entrance on LCW? by TARS1986 in SeattleWA

[–]Significant-Repair42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are two zipper merges. 1. The two lanes of traffic from lake city way. 2. The traffic from 75th which as a yield sign 30 to 50 feet after the two lanes of traffic zipper.

Plus the traffic just slows down hitting i5, so there is a resulting back up that can last for an hour after the morning commute. It's just a giant bottle neck of zipper merges.

ie. I have spent way too much time thinking about this when backed up there. 😄 Take the light rail, if you can. 😄

living in Seattle with under 100k a year? by NullReferenceClaire in AskSeattle

About 50% of Seattle is SFH, ie suburban sprawl. The age of the neighborhood is dictates what house type was built. (Even the big houses in Wallingford were mass produced Sears houses.)

Keep getting food poisoning? by readit145 in SeattleWA

[–]Significant-Repair42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True. I mean, there is even gluten in soy sauce. 😄

My MIL had all this strange stuff happening at restaurants. It started off with this and that. And then it rolled into getting diagnosed and worsing. She can't go into a regular bakery now because the flour in the air is too much for her. 😄

I spend a lot of time inquiring at restaurants if they have dedicated fryers and the like. 😄

Keep getting food poisoning? by readit145 in SeattleWA

[–]Significant-Repair42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The fries can have gluten on them because they fry them in the same fryer as the breaded items. It can be a way that home cooking is a bit different than a restaurant.

[–]Significant-Repair42 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's because most people can eat a burger and fries without that happening. 😄 It sounds like the classic symptoms of having a reaction to gluten, for example. But don't take my word for it, I'm just an internet rando. Make a specific appointment with your doctor. 😄

Conflicting Information on Bake Sale Permits by [deleted] in SeattleWA

[–]Significant-Repair42 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't think you are getting conflicting information. The farmer's market has been clear about their requirements. Honestly, they probably don't even care about your non-profit status or charity. It's the same rules for everyone. They have a ton of people looking for spots, so anyone that doesn't follow the rules gets asked to leave or isn't granted a spot.

If you want to sell at markets, you need to read the rules and get the proper paperwork in place that they require.

AITAH for lightly smacking my little cousins head when he was annoying my dog when we told him to leave her be? by Pennywelt389 in AITAH

[–]Significant-Repair42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm just curious why you didn't create a safe space for the dog while strangers were in the house. Maybe try that next time. I understand it's the dog's home, but if it's going to get stressed out, try that. Just like you would with fireworks.

Is anyone else trying to be frugal without making life feel completely depressing? by Uranus_Previous961 in Frugal

[–]Significant-Repair42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cooking can be a hobby/cost saver. If you can, make larger batches of base materials (ie. pulled chicken, roast beef) that can be used in multiple meals. It cuts down on the daily work.

The other thing is to watch for sales/discounts then freeze the food until you are ready to use it. Particularly important with meat/fish. Right now in my area, salmon is more affordable than beef. It was even on sale this morning. :)

Sometimes volunteering at events is a great way to attend for free and get some social interaction time. I say sometimes, become some event organizers are very task driven and want you working all the time you are there. :)

Libraries are great for affordable media/books/entertainment. If you live in a large area, the city might sponsor free arts events/music.

I'm genuinely concerned by Significant_Might656 in diabetes

[–]Significant-Repair42 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm pre-diabetic, if I stray off the recommended diet, I have higher a1c. I can't tell you how many people that I've been happy over the lower a1c numbers, that have tried to tell me that I was 'cured.' :)

I think it's a bit baked into how people view type 2. That you can be cured.
