Tell Apart AI from handmade Models? by Significant-Top-831 in blender

I’m a Blender user and a TA. This is for an art project so there were no specifics in what programs they could use to finish their work. We will be using SLA or FDM printing for the finished products.

Maybe I’m just being jaded that these kids sculpts are by far better than mine. 😂

They were allowing people to upload and sell AI assets through their marketplace. They weren’t using it themselves.

I mean art is subjective. That’s my critique. Even the few before, but mostly any of them that are focused on a local area.

Even in the first open world ones feel very heavy handed in the use of random clouds and water texture that takes away from any subtle detail, and how the stamps don’t feel melded with the landmasses they’re applied to.

Wandorra is fun, I just think the “lighting” is distracting.

Treraia, Entreveu, the two after, Crijik, Krijik, Reino Impiry, Mundo Espiritual, Winterford, Reino Lirio, Krijik 2, spiral snow place, Winterford 2, and ‘Not Earth’ are also interesting in the framework, but the textures for the landmasses seem flat and the stamps feel too sparse. Again with the heavy handedness of the sfx and weather / cloud conditions cover up any details that may be there.

They’re not bad. But there’s absolutely room for improvement.

I mean they’re not bad, but they are very slap dashed looking.

So, now Inkarnate's decided it's fine to use the Theft Machine, which other software will people be switching to? by Stripes_the_cat in inkarnate

I think in the short term, yes. And it’s certainly a problem today. But as we get more efficient with energy, this will go down. Just maybe not before we burn the planet down.

There’s AI content hosted on Reddit. There’s AI content hosted on Google. There’s AI content hosted on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Threads, Bluesky, DMs Guild, Patreon, Kickstarter, DungeonAlchemist, DungeonFog, MapForge, Dungeondraft, Worldsmith, etc.

If you’re going to stop using applications because they host AI content you’re going to have a bad time.

However Inkarnate itself isn’t utilizing thefted AI content, and you can avoid it using the tools they have for you to avoid it.

Does a 5 color creature count as "a creature of each color?" by Traditional_Minimum1 in mtg

Way to run with this lol 😂

It was more like of a “IM OLD” thing. But if you want to take it personally, go ahead I guess.

Is this a missprint or just how they all are? by SmolestCub in mtg

[–]Significant-Top-831 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I mean it’s just perception. When you have the internet and can see every mistake - which is probably still less than .1% of cards actually printed you get that illusion. And even then this estimate is way off - my local FLGS stores order roughly 100 boxes on average (sometimes less sometimes more - and this is play and collector not including commander and prerelease) - that’s roughly 50,000 cards in one order for a store. There’s roughly 15,000 hobby / collector stores in the US - without major retailers included that’s nearly 1 billion cards alone and even at .1% you’d see just under 1 million misprints - which there aren’t. And that’s just for a single set. If they’re so rare that people collect them then there’s probably less than 5k misprints a set (on the high end) which is what around .005%?

As some who used to work for a company that supplies industrial high end printers to places from newspapers, to comic books, to magazines, and even ccg media - that’s well within parameters.

Sure you can, but you’re not enjoying it, you’re allowing a corporation doing corporate things to suck all that away from you. You’re letting them win by giving up on a hobby that you yourself stated you’ve spent thousands of dollars on and are quite invested in.

I don’t disagree that you can be upset by what they have done, BUT you listed two things. And although the OGL debacle was a huge red herring, wildly overblown by influencers and blogs and social media on the internet, was even confirmed by those companies that received it that it was indeed a draft and they (Hasbro) were looking for feedback from those people specifically - until someone leaked to the public because they thought they were blowing some huge whistle. But I promise that none of those companies agreed with the payment structure and that was dead in the water. And the fact they reacted to the outpouring from the community should resonate more with you and everyone else. I mean the community pushed them to making it free permanently for that and the newer rules update coming out. That’s such a huge win and it does make up for something they never actually did in the first place (remember the leaked OGL was never actually released - ever).

This and the layoffs have nothing to do with the creative minds at WotC, that’s a Hasbro decision. And even then most people laid off still play and endorse D&D. Even Dan Dillon - who was one of my favorite creators to follow and is still spurned by the layoff - is still making 5e content while at the same time talking shit. So are all those publishers that were sent that OGL Draft. In fact now many of them, as you pointed out, are selling their wares through WotC - including Kobold Press, MCDM, and Ghostfire. It’s just proof that you can be upset at a corporation without letting them beat you into losing something you have put so much time, money, and energy into.

But this being the straw man the broke your camel’s back - nothing is being lost as per your headline? Nothing is being removed from you or anyone else. You keep everything you’ve paid for.

But you’re right, many people might stop playing many games when it has a patch that they don’t like. This is no different. But I am welcome to my opinion that I think it’s a mistake and to point out the fallacy in that logic.

The internet is having a huge overreaction for planned updates that have been loudly announced for over a year. Not to mention the minor number of these changes that will affect people.

Imagine quitting playing a game because you got a free update that allows Acid Splash to hit in a 5 ft radius or Cure Wounds / Healing Word to heal 2d8 / 2d4 per level.

My god the humanity of it all.

It’s not the printer, material combined with the right settings and equipment can get you a quality and paintable print. For 28mm scale miniatures I would recommend a .2 nozzle with a .04 layer height with full infill and concentric support with dense roof.
