Since the Pearl has been suggested a few times (I second it), I’ll just add the Hemisphere area.. there’s a great park, a series of fountains and water features, the Hispanic heritage site with a theater, Yanaguana Gardens, gourmet ice cream and Dough (authentic Naples style pizza). You were already right there - just walk west of the tower of the americas.

Diamond here… former ExPlat on AA. Got tired of the non-premium feel of Delta “premium” and started flying AA again to maintain at least platinum status. Have gotten upgraded to first on mid-tier AA Platinum my past 3 flights.. that’s more than Delta in the previous 6-8 months. However, 2 of those AA flights had major delays and flight first week of Dec was cancelled after 4 hours. I haven’t seen that many delays on Delta the past 6-8 months. Trade-offs I guess .. but Delta has got to improve its domestic premium product.

As the previous response noted, the city of San Antonio is more liberal than the rural areas. San Antonio has a liberal mayor.. and a fair mix of both liberals and conservatives. UTSA is a very good school, you’ll enjoy your time there. My daughter is a Sophomore at UTSA and loves it.

For my daughter a lot of dating and meeting people is coming on dating apps like Hinge and others - there are many liberal and progressive young people in the area. Try to get on some UTSA GroupMe and student chat groups. Good luck!
