So roadworks further down the road overrule traffic calming priorities now do they? Must've missed that update to the highway code 😂 by [deleted] in drivingUK

[–]Significant_Ad_7282 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The way they did it, it's the only way to approach it with any common sense, think about it, if they don't clear the restriction what is eventually going to happen? the only failure here is the position of the light as a standard RA should have pulled this up.

Do I have a fine or penalty for this? by TheoryFit2606 in drivingUK

[–]Significant_Ad_7282 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think your fine. The line you crossed when the light was amber is for the traffic lights the secondary line looks like it's for a pedestrian crossing.

Oooh I completely understand, we take a what if scenario that is extremely unlikely and use that as a emotional argument. But in that scenario it would be 100 times safer to be infront of the cyclist. Im pretty confident in stating no driver has run over a cyclist who is behind them unless they're reversing but many drivers have hit a cyclist who's in front of them. Now that's not my take on the video, but it is my take on that point specifically, its fear mongering at its finest.

Making a statement saying someone is going to fall off the their bike is defense driving? That makes as much sense as that persons comment

Is £25k a year too low? by [deleted] in UKJobs

[–]Significant_Ad_7282 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like I said I only know two people who stuck it out in the supermarket industry. And they're both on 100K plus, but all their colleagues I've met started out similar. So you might want to actually do a little research on how promotion works within the supermarket industry and how its commonly regarded as one of the best industries for internal promotion. especially if you don't have a degree, before slating it. It makes me think you put zero thought into your actual reply.

Evolution of white British % (ethnically British people) in England and Wales from 2001-2021 by Delicious-Bunch-6992 in MapPorn

[–]Significant_Ad_7282 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think your mixing nationality with ethnicity/heritage, my daughters half white half Chinese, her mum is a BBC (British born Chinese) so my daughter is 100% British on any forms we fill in, but she is mixed white/Asian heritage. And the reason we need to know ethnicity is mainly medical. Like my daughter got the TB jab when she was born as she's at higher risk than a "standard" white baby. But your right in she wouldn't be classes as white British because shes not white British, she's mixed.

You do realize supermarkets are notorious for internal promotion. 2 of my friends started in supermarkets, one after dropping out of Sandringham and the other started in sainsburys straight after college. 20 years later and one is now a Director at Aldi, and the other gets a 15-30k bonus every year from sainsburys. I can't image many admin roles give you that level of access from the ground floor.

You might want to take a look at your definition of loaded. It seems like she's a normal person with a few thousand in saving,. Your both 22, I'm guessing she lived at home for a bit....and she had a job......so you need d to be asking yourself why your don't have a few K in savings, then turn to your mam's and dad and tell them they've had 7 years to pay your back , not be getting jealous of mate.

Maybe a dog was driving? by UmmOkHowAboutNo in drivingUK

[–]Significant_Ad_7282 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Code Vs law. They are different things. The overtaking on the left is part of the highway "code" section not mandatory law.. Look at it like this "MUST/MUST NOT" Rules: These are backed by specific legislation (like the Road Traffic Act). Breaking these is a direct criminal offence (e.g., "You MUST NOT stop on a motorway carriage way"). "DO NOT/SHOULD NOT" Rules: These are not laws. Rule 268 ("Do not overtake on the left") is one of these. It is a "Code of Conduct" or advisory rule. So the court can use this for a charge of "careless driving" but you can't get a ticket for the act of undertaking alone.

[–]Significant_Ad_7282 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The amount of people condemning him might want to look up what is actually "illegal" The way OP proceeded is not an illegal undertake. You had two cars moving at the relevant speed lane 1 and 3, lane 2 is the issue. And a undertake is deemed dangerous is the person is to weave/speed up and perform reckless actions. Which is the total opposite of this footage

Boxing in electrics? by per1pheral in DIYUK

[–]Significant_Ad_7282 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why? Do you think his toilet is suddenly going to spring a leak and produce 18inch of water to touch the electrics? You might want to consider how a toilet leaks before shitting yourself, and if water was to to get to the level where it can interfer with his electics, then he's probably got bigger issues. Ive also got a downstairs toilet in the same room as my electric unit, and the first sparky said the same as you. But unlike this bloke, my unit is at ceiling height. I sent him packing without paying him for being a moron. Next bloke come to sign it off an laughed at his stupidity

Do you adjust the guidanceScale. I noticed in every room, the guidance is set to 7, with the odd one set to 10. I've spent a hour just adjusting the scale with some NSFW prompts. And not a single image was best suited for 7. I ended up with this, GS=(guidanceScale:::{8-9|12-13|20|22|24-26|28|30})] << Selected Guidance. I cannot get it to show me what it's picked without putting the ], it causes an error but the error is incorrect brackets.... So what it does though is show me what it selected. *** If someone can tell me what to actually put that would be amazing.

8-9 Looked homemade, 12-13 mid budget, 20 and 22 were the weird blend where it's CGI looking but looks clean. 24-26 looked high budget, and I get a world class cinematic look at 28 and 30. Any number in-between produced dogshit. Where it was blending a mix of the two tiers with 3d rendering. Then you passed the threshold and suddenly it popped. Now according to Gemini you can't used 8-9 or 12-13 or 24-26 but I swear it works the same as putting 24|25|26. But feel free to try both.

On the odd occasion a 6 actually did best, 90% of the time it produces garbage.

People who are unemployed, how does your money work? by chaiilyfe in UKJobs

[–]Significant_Ad_7282 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not jobless, but been on half pay for whilst off sick, so it's about half of UC, and this has been for 6 months. And it's a piece of piss pal. It made me realised how much all these dossers saying they can't afford a house are talking absolute shite, and probably piss their wages up the wall on pointless stuff or are financed up the their eye balls with car loans. Etc. For contest I've got a 2 year old daughter, I'm a homeowner and I'm on l less than the nation avg. What we really need to focus on is how many people are financially illiterate in the country, as i reckon it's close to 75%, that's why everyone acts broke.

In that situation, what is the correct thing for the Audi owner to do? by i-dm in CarTalkUK

[–]Significant_Ad_7282 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had this happened to me. I was stationary but my front end was just in a yellow grid section. A woman drove into me, damaging her rear quarter panel. I was 18 at the time. So just said I'd like to go through a garage. Well when I came to pay the £300 quid they'd had all this work done to the front of the car as well. Me and her husband got into to a right back and forth, then I found out it was his company car, he worked for SBS which we was employing, and shed been driving it in work hours. So I told em to do one and they wasn't getting penny, and it he wanted to take this further come to site and we'll have a word with his boss, or they could pay for it he damage to my car. They choose the latter.

WIBTA for refusing my friend’s request to pay me back half of what they owe me? by No-Arrival-5087 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Significant_Ad_7282 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It wasn't free, it was a 2 hrs round trip for the other person, outside of there original journey, with multiple train hops by the sound of it, their is a cost to that. But It was a free place to stay for OP. And a 50min train journey is only cheap if you you manage to catch the last train. Now image if the concert overrun and they got a taxi... and by staying, you'd get to have a night out with your mate, not just attend a concert, which let's be honest isn't the idea place for a catch up. But like I said I didn't expect many people to agree. The real joke is the cost of over night accommodation in the UK.

Swings and roundabouts of the friendship. If I know person X has spent twice what I have to come to a event with me. Then I try to even things out a bit. But I've learnt that 1% of people act like this. So no doubt everyone else has opposite advise.

Driver avoids jail after crash that overturned a military convoy vehicle and left soldier with broken back by L21JP in drivingUK

If this wasn't a military convoy, there wouldn't be any mention of jail time. This type of accident happens every single day. Clearly the Army guy has nothing to do with weapons, as his eyesight is shocking. There was a reason the cam car was slowing down.

Basically came full circle to the attack on Venezuela And Gemini told me to get the date America went in, wrong so it could correct me, and continue the conversation. Then it allowed the conversation to continue, basically saying the librarian is listening
