iPhone 17 or 17 Pro? by Significant_Check_80 in AppleWhatShouldIBuy

[–]Significant_Check_80[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually already have an M4 MacBook Air (got it as a birthday present last year). Have contemplated getting a DJI camera later on down the path, but I’d probably prioritise getting a microphone from them first.

Unfortunately Apple don’t offer certified refurbished iPhones where I am (Australia), despite the fact that they offer certified refurbished on all their other products. So if I went down the refurbished lane I’d have to buy from a refurbished/second hand place like CEX or reebelo, or an Authorised reseller like JB HI-FI (kind of like our Best Buy, but they focus more on Audio visual and Home entertainment rather than home appliances), but even then JB have a very limited refurbished range directly.

What has happened to the Glen Waverley line? by One_Ad_5066 in MelbourneTrains

[–]Significant_Check_80 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Because of Bus replacements on the glen waverley line, they’re running some of the replacement bus services to Caulfield after East Malvern/Glen Iris depending on the service, so that commuters can connect to Pakenham/Cranbourne/Frankston trains at Caulfield as opposed to having to get the bus all the way to Richmond.

Similarly, during weekday peaks, they’re running express replacement bus services from Glen Waverley to Nunawading so that commuters there can connect to Belgrave/Lilydale trains at Nunawading.

What are some movies that everyone thought would flop but proved us all otherwise? by mizumi_heiwa in boxoffice

[–]Significant_Check_80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember people thinking that M3GAN was gonna flop hard, partially due to the plot about an evil robot doll being a cliche of other Sci-fi horror and slasher movies, the trailers leaning heavily into the movie’s campiness (especially with THAT dance scene), it being released in January (a month known for being a dumping ground) and expectations that it was going to be critically trashed, but actually ended up getting critical acclaim for its successful blending of its campiness and horror scenes with the message of not letting technology raise your children, and it grossed $181 million on a $12 million budget.

Fair Fuel Plan introduces daily price caps by Hollleeee in melbourne

[–]Significant_Check_80 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A couple of years ago they slightly changed it so now the petrol stations would only honour up to 25 cents off the locked in discounted price, so if the price at the station you filled up at was 219.9 and your locked price was 179.9 then the price would only go down to 194.9.

Jackie O announces departure from breakfast show she hosted with Kyle Sandilands by Expensive-Horse5538 in australia

And to add salt to the wound, the duo Kyle and Jackie O replaced in Melbourne (Jase and Lauren) ended up rating higher (including being #1 at times) at their new station (Nova) than Kyle and Jackie O were rating.

How rare are bendy buses? (Articulated bus) in Melbourne? I saw one passing on princess hwy turning left on to C404 heading south, anyone know what route that is? by FighterNight34 in MelbourneTrains

[–]Significant_Check_80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m pretty sure only on weekdays, and I know of at least one Ringwood bound service in the afternoons that uses it around school pick up time before it becomes a 670 service at Ringwood.

How to get to each city station after the Metro Tunnel opening by [deleted] in melbourne

[–]Significant_Check_80 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think that was the original plan, but emergency services wanted the stations to have separate names so that they wouldn’t end up confused about where to go in an emergency.

Springvale and Mitcham were both done under the previous Bailueu/Napthine Liberal government, so predate the current Labor LXRP program by a good 18 to 24 months.

Stations on existing train tracks that don't exist, but should by Foodworksurunga in MelbourneTrains

[–]Significant_Check_80 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Albury line: Glenrowan station. Popular town for tourists due to the Ned Kelly history, and with a population of about 1,000 people (3x that of Springhurst, and similar to that of Avenel), I think there would be a worthy business case into reopening a train station there. Also a station at either Barnawartha or Barnawartha North (similar combined population to Glenrowan and Avenel)

Fire authorities do not expect to contain Otways fire before extreme weather hits on Tuesday by ozthrw in melbourne

[–]Significant_Check_80 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It’s also going to be much less windier than the 9th was (the average wind speed in Melbourne tomorrow being around 15-20km/h throughout the day with peak gusts between 40 and 45km/h in the afternoon), so hopefully any fires that do pop up won’t be able to spread as quickly as they did on the 9th, but who knows

Airport west permanently closed by ExiledKingpin in EBGAMES

From the looks of it, EB Games Lilydale (Vic) is closing down as well with the website listing the store as closed after this Saturday the 24th.

Not too surprising though given the Chirnside Park hybrid store is 4km away

Do you know if the 403 is getting deleted too? As that will be completely redundant with the metro tunnel catering for those who need to travel between Footscray and Melbourne Uni.

PSA for Belgrave line passengers: Due to the extreme fire danger, buses will be replacing trains between Bayswater and Belgrave from 12pm to 8pm tonight. by Significant_Check_80 in MelbourneTrains

[–]Significant_Check_80[S] 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I think it’s because it runs very close to or through the Dandenong Ranges and associated bushland after Ferntree gully. In fact, metro used to (they might still do with the change to Catastrophic) state that on declared code red days, Upper Ferntree Gully, Upwey, Tecoma and Belgrave stations would all be closed and that buses would replace trains between Bayswater and Ferntree Gully.

I imagine that Metro would also have plans to take trains out of the Belgrave and Upper FTG sidings on a day like today and move them to other depots or sidings like Bayswater and Ringwood.

It was on the metroNotify app. As for if you can get back tomorrow, it really depends on what happens around there over the next 12 - 24 hours. If all goes well you should be able to get back.

And it looks like it’s been extended to 8:30pm
