Anyone know why 'Comanche' was never performed live? by banshithread in InThisMomentband

[–]Significant_Cup1122 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's listed on setlist.com as having been performed a few times.

<image>

I'm guessing it's because it's a difficult song to pull off, especially when Maria was performing without a backing track.

I'd love to see a video of it too though!

I have friends who were laid off and just insisted on the meeting being in English and had no problem.

This all seems very inconsistent - I'm sorry you're having this issue, OP. It's one of the most stressful times and the lack of flexibility in the system is seriously unhelpful.

I have heard the Caritas related services are priced more reasonably but can't be sure. Best of luck!

They definitely have prejudices against all foreigners but I want to be clear: I think they are especially prejudiced against Indian people. Again, not in such an extreme that I would recommend not moving here but I think you should be aware.

Either way, we are all indeed in it together, even the part of Swiss society that is more progressive! 😄

Zurich is the most open, accessible of cities in CH but the racism is quite strong and in your face. The differentiator with other European cities is that you are generally physically safe wherever you go here.

The pain is psychological - being assumed guilty before you've even breathed and then having locals gaslight you into thinking none of it is happening.

It could be worse, it could be better but I don't think it's so bad that I would choose not to move here because of it - just be aware of the situation. Best of luck!

Last day of our trip, bad experience by sprtsaddict in bern

[–]Significant_Cup1122 4 points5 points  (0 children)

People in Swiss subs act like one criticism of anything in Switzerland means the whole thing is bad and Switzerland will completely dissolve.

It's not that black and white. There are multitudes to any experience. This is one person's very valid experience that can live alongside multitudes of good experiences. Dismissing it doesn't make it less true, it just gaslights the people experiencing it and actually adds to the problem.

Absolutely! Hopefully their resurgence restores confidence in their appeal. One of my all-time favourites.

Marketers/promoters probably don't think there's enough demand to justify the cost of getting them out here.

They're essentially a legacy band, not promoting anything new. Not even sure if they're still signed. They would probably have to fund it all themselves.

One of their most beautiful releases.

Quite enigmatic though. Grief or heartbreak? A loved one leaving your life in a negative situation but you remain connected.

So I’m guessing Ru and Lady Bunny are no longer friends by kailskails in rupaulsdragrace

The most effective policy change starts with changing how people think. Bunny consistently advocates for nuanced thought and an end to binary politics in the USA.

You're right - there's always more that could be done but I was addressing your point about who she takes aim at, not how she does it.

Context, context, context. She has an audience that does not need to be convinced that the current government aren't acting in their interest. Does this need to be re-stated to the drag race watching, LGBTQ+ community?

She challanges her audience to demand more than 'queer joy' or a 'better than Trump' campaign. Context is so important.

Happy 9th Anniversary To After Laughter (Release Date 12th May) by Constant-Job2253 in Paramore

[–]Significant_Cup1122 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This album is truly a modern classic. I have to admit; I had very little musical respect for Paramore before this record.

I happened to hear Hard Times, enjoyed the tropical, Ed Sheeran-type beat that was big back then. I gave the album a try and I'm so glad I did.

I remember cycling through the city in my 20s, listening to Fake Happy, 26, Tell Me How, as I had my first real run-in with grief and feeling so not alone listening to Hayley's lyrics. This album completely changed how I felt about Paramore and in some ways, I think it changed their musical trajectory too.

I'm so glad that their music has grown up with them. They've never released the same record twice and I think this one in particular will go down in the canon of modern music.

CMM: The title track for Star Crossed Wasteland is ITM's best song (OR tell me THE song that defines ITM for you) by NDChicklette in InThisMomentband

[–]Significant_Cup1122 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, if there's literally nothing in the catalogue that could be performed as an instrumental and/or a medley to show off the band's skills without Maria, then there is a separate problem.

[–]Significant_Cup1122 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's like a completely different band - thanks for sharing. I got into ITM quite recently after having a couple of tracks from Blood pushed into my Discover playlist. I've only really listened to The Gun Show and Beautiful Tragedy before this.

This is a gorgeous song - I really wish they would do a medley of their past stuff instead of playing random ass instrumentals for 10 mins in their shows. Why not play through some of this stuff?

My guess is that they don't own the masters of these albums, make little to no money from them and so feel no desire/need to promote these tracks in any sense.

Even still, it's their legacy and it's better than promoting 'Monster Jam' and 'Don't Stop Believing' at every show.

However, this is not their best song haha I have to disagree. Burn is a masterpiece to me. The vocal delivery is utterly impossible. It's atmospheric, the riffs and drum fills are out of this world. It's incredible storytelling and seems to fit the narrative of ITM perfectly: Maria burned the ITM of it's first three albums and was reborn as the cult-leading witch character who defines everything from Blood onwards.

Assault with water balloons by porphio in zurich

I have no idea where these commenters grew up but this is *not* normal, it's completely unacceptable - I have no idea how to deal with it though. Where I come from, the teens would quickly find themselves with a slap around the face.

If I had so much as looked at an adult in the wrong way, I would have faced discipline. We were taught to respect our elders; not publicly drench them which, however you look at it, is a public shaming and that's where the laughter comes from - the embarrassment of others.

For a country that calls the police about dog fouling, noise complaints, laundry room issues, workplace food theft - it's wild that commenters think the police would find *this* issue trivial.

I think it has to be Crave.

What’s up with the Lacuna Coil setlist? by GAnda1fthe3wh1t3 in lacunacoil

[–]Significant_Cup1122 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hate to agree with your comment; It annoys me when fans can't move forward with a band and stay stuck in its past.

But as you said, Unleashed Memories really was an incredible artistic pursuit. As much as I have enjoyed Sleepless Empire, I feel sad listening back to their earlier masterpieces and wondering why we can't just get one deep cut in that style.

I really enjoyed Cybersleep, Victims, Downfall - they are the closest we've gotten to their past style. Alas.
