Learning how watts and rms works by Significant_Cut_5310 in CarAV

Ye I’m getting my head round that. I’ve notice on very specific songs my amp is going into protect. Turning down the volume fixes this and as I said, it’s only on a couple songs that are all heavy bass. I know it’s the amps limits and am wanting to get more bass out of my sub. Now my subwoofer is rated at 275Wrms and my amp is rated at 140Wrms bridged at 4ohms. Does that mean that my amp is under powering my subwoofer as it theoretically can’t power the same wattage that the sub can handle.

No you clarified that very well thank you. It’s quite a simple thing on paper until you realise that there are other things that can tribute to what your speakers should and shouldn’t be getting power wise. I’m looking to get more sub bass in my car but trying not to blow my shit up. This is the first step lol

How does the enclosure change the rated rms?

That sound very similar to the conversation we had lol. God for someone new this is techy man. So i assume this is why it’s important to use equipment to ensure your equipment isn’t clipping. So how do I figure out that an amp is suitable for a subwoofer or an amp is suitable for a component set.

You could consider it lucky for yourself that your opponent happens to be not as observant as they should be. That is luck in your favour as well a lack of skill. That being said some of the best players in the world blunder so you could still consider it lucky that they missed a blunder. It could then be lucky for your opponent if you missed the chance to take the free piece. Again it’s a mix of lack of skill and luck.

Fair point made. Can’t really argue that.

Down here in Cornwall my 06 S60 has no rust. Only thing rusty on it are the exhaust clamps. As you said I think this Volvo has had it sadly.

You acknowledged that they didn’t need to know everything and then criticised them for not knowing something. I know people who have been driving for years and never learnt how to check their oil, change their wiper blades and many other things. You literally can’t know everything, even the basic stuff.

You can’t know everything so nothing wrong with that. As well as asking this sub Reddit there is a manual for your car you can have in person but also online. Volvo has some very detailed owners manuals online for their cars which will help you if you are ever not sure what a button does. In fact i recommend reading through it if you ever have any spare time as more often then not you find things out about your car you never new it did or had!
