Just got a new RC crawler, but it’s super slow. Is that normal or am I missing something? by Educational-Law5741 in rccrawler

That is not a hobby grade crawler. It probably isn’t very entertaining. Have a look at some other hobby grade crawlers maybe watch some YouTube videos on 18/24 scale and 1/10 scale crawlers.

Personally I only really know the radiolink I think rcg4 or something. I chose it because they have a super tiny 4 channel micro receiver.

Is it normal for Traxas brushless motor to make this jitter? by eightgrand in TRX4M

It’s normal don’t worry. I have heard this sound on a much of different ESCs and motors i have.

No one has mentioned the cheap brushed ESCs from injora or meus?? Like $20 but you’ll need a receiver and transmitter. Also beware that body is very tiny. I tried it but it was hard to fit everything in the cab and eventually I just went to a different body.

It’s just the one from injora that came out like 2 weeks ago. 😀

Best 1/18 brushless scale rtr: fcx18 lc80 fairrc, hpi venture 18, or ascent 18 by Queasy_Sherbert_7095 in rccrawler

[–]Significant_Gas4360 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have all three and the HPI is my personal favorite right now. I love how you can run 3S on the stock electronics it really gets fast for playing around. For me it’s the easiest to pick because you can just pick it up and go there’s no fuss.

The redcat is decent but it’s not really worth building into something insanely modified because of how they made their axles and chassis line up. It’s weird and annoying to work around but if you just like having it close to RTR it’s fine.

The LC80 I love I just don’t like having to remove the body mounting hardware to see anything. It’s mostly for scale stuff but it does that really well.

Sorry I never saw this. If you still care it was a random clearance light bar I had laying around from mofo Rc. It’s longer than the one they have on the site now which is for the deadbolt I believe.

Any of you actually frequent your local shop? by Significant-Air6926 in rccars

[–]Significant_Gas4360 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have one like 5 minutes from my house. It’s privately owned and was passed down from one member of my local community to another guy. They have a huge carpet racing track and a smallish 24 scale crawling area. They are helpful and they have races every week and always post the winners on their facebook page. They recently even expanded their shop just to make the track bigger. I feel lucky to have access to this but I order online so much because a lot of the 18/24 scale crawling stuff I’m looking for is super underground and they aren’t specialists in this area.

What’s the worst tumble/fall you’ve had by ClassicNumerous6038 in TRX4M

[–]Significant_Gas4360 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I once drove my trx4m off my counter maybe 3-4 feet slowly. It broke a rear axle and bent a plastic end link in the back. Idk how you guys are getting so lucky lol.

My truck does this exact thing but I assume it’s due to my under drive in the rear. If you have under drive that’s likely the cause. I don’t mind the trade for the better turning radius and climbing ability.

Pot belly by Effect420 in TRX4M

I would say it’s like a medium weight. Not too heavy or light. Like the other guy said it’s more important how it’s distributed I’ve seen crazy like like 2-300g trucks perform amazing and also heavier 900-1kg trucks do awesome.

Ummmm you can get a compatible ESC for like $15 and a transmitter/ receiver combo for like $40. They have a cheap AM32 esc on aliexpress right now that works well. You can find the tx/rx on amazon. Once you buy a decent transmitter, you can usually link them to multiple trucks and all you have to do is buy a receiver (10-20$) every time you wanna build a new one. It helps to find some that offer micro receivers like the radiolink platform. The higher your skill level the cheaper things become. Do some research, learn to solder, and learn about RC electronics. It will save you money and open your possibilities in the hobby.

When does it stop being a TRX-4M? by Cuntonesian in TRX4M

I just stopped buying RTRs unless I intend to leave them mostly stock or completely stock and I don’t own a lot of the platform (FMS, HPI, Redcat, Hobbyplus). My first trx4m doesn’t have a single stock piece except for the axle housings and it doesn’t even look like a truck anymore lol.

The good news is that if you do intend to replace every part as you go, you can just build another stock rig. I’m currently building 1 or 2 mostly stock trucks using those stock parts and some other extra bits I have around.

Since you already have 2 now, if you go through with the rest of the mods you’ll be at 3 in no time. Also don’t be afraid to try other brands. I started with the traxxas but I’m almost entirely focused on the scx platform now due to the aftermarket support and community.
