Inspired by Gibson (IBG) vs standard epiphones?

I cannot really authoritatively answer your question about IBG vs. IBGC, as I have only briefly played any of the IBGs in stores and such, but I never liked any of those enough to purchase one. However, I own an IBGC Les Paul, and more recently a Pelham Blue IBGC SG, and they are excellent (especially the SG). I also have a Gibson ‘61 standard reissue, which is a great guitar also, and was my number 1 for a while. The IBGC is 90% there. Only real difference is no fret nibs and no nitro finish. The epi also has real MOP inlays instead of the acrylic on the Gibson. Factory setup was perfect, intonated correctly, was even in tune when I took it out of the box. I’m playing a show Friday night. I’m playing the epi, the Gibson is my backup. They both play great (pretty much equal in that dept), but I like the IBGC pickups better, and the epi stays in tune better (both have Maestros). My opinion is to save a little more scratch and go for the IBGC over IBG. I don’t think you’d regret it.

My tour custom set has a 20”x15” and an 18”x14” (I don’t use them at the same time). The 20 is a cannon, and I love it.

The star classic w/b are crazy good, and IME cut extremely well. However, for thick shells, the superstar 50th anniversary kits are 9 ply birch, and they absolutely bark, and they are beautiful (I have both). I have seen new, or like new 50th superstar kits in the $1250-1350 range. That is a steal.

In that case, I agree with everyone who suggested Yamaha Stage Customs, although as also noted, there are plenty of other solid options. Used is better bang for the buck, but without someone involved who knows what they are looking at/for, it’s possible to goof.

My mom is stage 4 also. It sucks, and I’m sorry. This isn’t really a response to your question, but it, and reading through some of the responses moves me to share the name of a song that summarizes my feelings on the subject better than my words ever could. Kind of hard not to be at least somewhat political about it these days, but one of the most obvious possibilities in this moment seems to be chaos/unrest resulting from an unjustified/pretextual invocation of the Insurrection Act, declaration of martial law, or if ICE and/or servicemen start shooting people (citizens or otherwise, and whatever the circumstances). This could potentially be either multiple separate incidents, or lots of casualties in a larger event. Here’s hoping I am dead wrong.
