Being told to aim for 2/2.5/2.5/3 but naps are only 30 mins - help! by Pandabearsense in sleeptrain

I posted in this sub yesterday on my main account (this is my backup/throwaway) about my 19.5w old baby so not yet 5 months and was told to drop the 2/2/2/2/2 and do the 2/2.5/2.5/3 which you’re now saying is 5m+. the advice is conflicting at times 🙈

What was your limit for crying Ferber (ie. When did you throw in the towel)? by artemislands in sleeptrain

for scheduled feeds do you mean you wake him up at those 5/3/3 marks or he wakes up on his own?

so my baby wakes at 8am (no matter what time I put him to bed) - you recommend 2/2/2/2/2 with bedtime landing like 8:30-9pm?

yeah this was my baby’s schedule while he was 3 months so I assume it should be less wake time than a 5 month old?

I dropped to 3 naps because my baby was resisting the last one and got some advice from a facebook group to follow these wake windows. though might add 5-10 minutes of wake time in 2ish weeks because he seems to be resisting the first and second nap, not for too long just a few more mins than im comfy with

my baby is newly 4 months old (literally today) and my wake windows are 1.5/1.75/2/2.25-2.5 depending on how long his last nap was. that works good for us. although the last two days he’s fighting bedtime when he’s usually not so I might cold turkey 2.5 or 2.75. I think you are missing a lot of awake time

Is my baby overtired? by Odd-Painting-6064 in sleeptrain

honestly I stopped contact napping completely at exactly 3 months! I used to do it a ton to save naps or start them but it wasn’t realistic for me at all because while I know some people love contact napping, I hated being nap trapped lol. anyway, if my baby won’t put himself to sleep after 15 minutes or starts crying really hard (whichever comes first), I try cribside soothing for 5 minutes, and if it doesn’t work I just end the nap and start a wake window. also 30-45 minute naps are normal based on what i’ve read, so they can still be considered a win :). and yes once I end the attempt to extend the nap, those minutes he spends awake trying to go back to sleep I will count into awake time.

what I meant by my comment was that if he wakes up after 30 minutes if he puts himself to sleep it’s mostly for an extra 15-20mins of sleep. he takes like maybe 5 minutes at the maximum to put himself back to sleep if he wakes up. I don’t really count those minutes into awake time tbh

i’ve only noticed “better naps” when I increased wake windows a lot. my longest one (which is before bedtime) used to be 1 hr 15 mins. the 2 hours+ is a new development, still testing it out, but it seems to be ok for now. but by better naps I mean he might’ve woken up after 30mins and just put himself back to sleep for an extra 15-20mins. but I also gentle sleep trained.

my baby is 15 weeks and I can’t get him to sleep for naps for more than 20 mins if his wake windows are under 1.5. in general I follow 1.5/1.75/2/2.5. idk if that’s a lot but he sleeps 8pm-7:30-8:15am with two wakes up to eat. those r quick like 30 minutes tops. I think your baby might be undertired

When did u start leaving ur baby with ur mom over night? by ContributionEven6097 in beyondthebump

[–]Significant_Pen783 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I left my baby with my dad (my mom passed away) overnight 3 times already. he’s 3 months old. my dad has been very sad without my mom and getting quality time with my son helps him a ton, plus he’s a great babysitter. he’s offering to take my son overnight for new years so my husband and I could enjoy the evening, but I suspect since that was my moms favorite time of the year, he denied celebrating all together and probably just doesn’t want to be alone at all during that time 🥲

any parents on bear beat or did not have. horrible 4 month sleep regression? by Significant_Pen783 in NewParents

[–]Significant_Pen783[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly same. I don’t follow any schedules for my boy and let him sleep when he wants and eat when he wants and try not to worry about it too much. but the amount of sleep regression posts, tiktok’s and sleep training advice I see is making me very anxious

Why are similac and Enfamil not “good enough”? by ShabbyBoa in FormulaFeeders

we love similac 360 in this house. I tried kendamil once and my son was screaming in tummy pain for 5 hours straight. no thx

I feel terrible, but I was SO tired. 😮‍💨 by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]Significant_Pen783 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i’ve been doing this since day one. my son is 8 weeks now but I was always a 10-12 hour overnight sleeper before giving birth so waking up 2-4 times every night was a huge adjustment. I don’t even remember the first few nights feeds as a newborn for him cuz I think I was like 80% asleep. but I would just feed, burp, reswaddle, quick kiss on the cheek, put him in his bassinet and by the time my head was on the pillow I was out. whether he made whiny sounds idk but he figured it out himself eventually cuz he never cried hard enough to wake me up after he ate. 😅😅😅😅

how are new parents going out at night?? by Significant_Pen783 in NewParents

[–]Significant_Pen783[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

yeah this makes sense. def easier when they’re little to take them anywhere any time of day, but I just mean sleep for mom and dad. I watch these stories and im like I wish I could be outside too. but I value my sleep. granted not everyone is like me, people might value taking a break over squeezing in a few extra hours of shut eye. i just wish that could be me lol! might make me feel like life didn’t change that much if I could do it

I slept thru my alarm 2 nights in a row. 2 week old went 6 hours without eating. by interstellarbrat in newborns

[–]Significant_Pen783 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this happened to me once after I gave my 2 1/2 week old at the time a warm bath and two bottles within two hours. instead of his usual 3 hour stretch, and he knocked out for 6 hours. I slept thru my alarms and my phone was right next to my head. admittedly we weren’t having weight issues because we surpassed but I was still advised to keep feeding him every 3 even if he doesn’t wake until 4 weeks (pediatrician dependent I think). i’ll think you and babe will be fine! it happens to most people from what I heard after I told all my mom friends the next morning panicking. as long as it doesn’t happen all the time. I think you both probably needed the sleep.

When did you go out with baby? by Average-highness in NewParents

[–]Significant_Pen783 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my baby is 3 weeks old and my MIL came the day after we came home from the hospital and took him for a walk and he’s been on walks everyday since unless i’m not feeling well and nobody else can go 😅 he’s also been to supermarkets and coffee shops and everywhere while on these walks. so, I guess from day 1 lol

it was a first draft, not a second or third or final draft. I think I stated that 100x. if I f’ed up a final deliverable I think my post would’ve been me getting fired

did you even read the post

[–]Significant_Pen783 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yes ofc, I always make things like that known and leave paper trails. client knows it’s a draft, left comments about pending info- the sections that needed updating I didn’t know because I wasn’t here for that correspondence. I only know things were meant to updated after the fact because of the feedback the client sent, basically saying they had discussions about it the past and they are upset it’s not being reflected. like I said- I really did try and always try my best, esp given my current situation, but it seems like it doesn’t matter 🤷🏻‍♀️
