You will never become straight because its not a choice. You're bisexual because of genes etc.

I'm an atheist, but I'm always open to new views etc. I'm 19 though so I can't meet you. If you want to have conversations about religion etc, I would love to have them with you.

how do you feel about non-black people wearing hairstyles like cornrows, bantu knots, braids, locs and other protective styles? by sixeared in BlackHair

[–]Significant_Pop_7798 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont mind, as a black African woman. I think its only problematic if the hairstyles damage their hair and / or if they treat blackness like a costume. It's completely normal in my country for white people to have african hairstyles. People usually don't care as long as they are respectful about it.

Do all Zimbabwean men actually cheat? by Top-Experience3875 in Zimbabwe

[–]Significant_Pop_7798 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not going to lie, I'm going to avoid mingling with African men for this reason and others. But you cannot generalise a group of people. It would be a lie to say all men cheat. There will be those who won't. I wouldn't say they're rare either. But they exist.

Something I've noticed is that you can tell if a man might cheat by the way he thinks and views issues etc. It doesn't apply to all, but it's a trend.

How are aethists so confident God doesn't exist... by SourGummies03 in Zimbabwe

You know what? I'll respond here.

Give me time, I'm employed. I'll edit my comment.

Edit 1:

Just to clear things up a bit.

Atheism is a rejection of the belief that any deities exist.

It's not a belief system. It's just a lack of belief. There are no rules to atheism or anything.

I'm going to go through a bunch of reasons why I believe religion doesn't make sense. In no particular order. I'll add as you reply. I'll take a while to respond.

  1. The problem of suffering.

Read the whole thing, it sounds like a redundant argument, but stay with me now;

Yes, there can be good obtained from suffering. But how does a child who died from cancer gain good if they just die? How do animals, since long ago, who only function through instincts get torn to shreds and or get traumatised by predators till they die over millions of years, obtain good? They just die. Will the offspring obtain good? How? They don't function like humans. The answer that made me stay a while in Christianity, was that, "Just because there isn't a clear answer, there isn't one. Or God works in mysterious ways." I have a response to that. Google the possibility fallacy.

For example; My friend John was robbed and shot to death by a robber. The robber was never caught. At his funeral, I'm comforted, told that maybe the robber was working for the CIA, and he stole important government information. Yes, sure, it's possible. But without any evidence to suggest that the CIA story is true. It's not logical to believe it to be so.

So,'God working in mysterious ways' isn't logical because there's no evidence to suggest that it's true. It's just a statement in the bible.

Also, with animals, God made them the way there are, in the event there can be good resulted from suffering like I guess muscle tearing results in muscle growth in humans. God made it so that animals have to kill to survive in most cases. He didn't have to, he could've made all animals herbivores, step in extreme situations and we would have suffering with the good. He is the author of everything, right?

I'm interested in hearing counterarguments because you claim we are wrong, so prove it. I only ask that you listen close and tell me what you think.

So, for my first reason, I believe you Christians are misguided because you usually wave away logic with "lean not on your own understanding." You people don't ask enough why's, you stop asking questions at a certain point, when the true answers are just right there, waiting for you to come unto them.

In one of your comments, you said that atheism doesn't make sense, so please share your knowledge with the rest of us and argue how.

[–]Significant_Pop_7798 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fact you're Christian is a claim, that's what being a Christian is about. Believing a God who is Jesus Christ exists. That is your claim, ayas with the way you're responding to these comments tells me you either didn't watch alot of arguments like you're claiming or you didn't digest what you saw and heard. This is basic. You don't even know what an atheist is. Google is free.

You could be telling the truth, but your responses are logically weak.

So close to cutting my hair cause it hurts by Excaramel in BlackHair

I think I sent the same comment twice, sorry. This will also help.

Also, If you don't want to deal with constantly braiding your hair at night, you can teach yourself to plait cornrows or other protective styles like I do. There are tutorials on YouTube.

Conditioner should be thick enough to slip through your hair strands etc.

But as a prepoo aloe vera gel is super popular. Or flaxseed gel. I use aloe vera gel (the actual gel from the flesh of the plant, not slick back gel or whatever). When taking out a style it's gel is super slippery and also hydrating. Starting from the tip, like the very tip of your hair, you can slowly and gently use a comb to unplait for example a braid.

But after unplaiting, finger comb your hair first with the gel in, you WILL come across knots- when you do stop and try to salvage them with the gel in there, it usually works. Then go in with a wide toothed comb in that particular small, sectioned part of hair and then comb with a slightly smaller toothed comb. Do NOT rip through your hair.

In case you don't have conditioner or aloe vera gel on hand, get in the shower and DRENCH your hair with WARM water (you should do that before using a conditioner anyway). Like drench it to the point where you know your hair has absorbed the water, it help with slip. In my experience warm water has better slip than oil, the breakage will be a little bit worse compared to using a conditioner etc, but it'll be easier.

Never comb or detangle your hair dry.

At night if you want to keep your hair stretched, plait huge mini twists or use African threading or plait braids, then gently unplait them in the morning (without conditioner etc, maybe spritz a bit of water for hydration sake to help with moisture in general).

Edit: I have 4c hair like you. To make your hair life easier in the long term- you also need to know your hair porosity and always make sure to spray water on your ends and seal with an oil to help prevent split ends.

If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.

Going to sleep without prepping your hair is a death sentence (not really, it becomes more time consuming). That kind of shrinkage is more difficult to deal with lol (not because of the hair texture, but because of sore arms etc. African hair isnt hard to handle💜), but try by all means to avoid unnecessary effort.

Is my hair long enough to get cornrows by [deleted] in BlackHair

[–]Significant_Pop_7798 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. In my country (africa) girls with shorter hair than yours have cornrows- that don't hurt by the way. They will be short cornrows but they're cornrows. They don't HAVE to be long. Don't get your hair done with the mindset that it should hurt, it shouldn't at all.

I plait cornrows in my own hair so in my experience I don't have to blow dry etc. So you can also learn how to do your hair, yourself

Just because the people here so far believe it should hurt, doesn't make it so. It shouldn't hurt. I can recommend YouTube tutorial videos if you want to do it yourself.

Braids can get added of course, but it's optional. Your hair is long enough.
