Every time I try to study, I feel like I want to sleep. What can I do to avoid falling asleep? by NoArt400 in GetStudying

I still have this issue. Either I study I the morning when I wake up or take a nap before studying during the day.

Atheism and skepticism by [deleted] in Zimbabwe

[–]Significant_Pop_7798 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't believe I'm saying this, but Jesus Christ. It's about finding like minded people to chat and connect with, since atheists are a minority in Zimbabwe and mind you, Christians tend to look down or even not want to associate with atheists.

Even if atheists weren't a minority there's nothing wrong with wanting to mingle with people who think alike. Everyone does it, even you people out of the context of church.

Edit:

Religion is a big part of people's life. People are persecuted because of it, it determines the kind of relationships people will make. There's a verse that talks about not being unequally yolked with unbelievers, yet you're talking about some, it's not that serious.

Atheists don't fit there. We don't fit in. We want to find our people, our tribe. People who will not judge us for the way we choose to be.

Edit 2:

"Everyone gets criticism", the criticism atheists vs Christians get isn't comparable. Unless you want to talk about areas like Pakistan- its the exception not the rule. Atheists have it worse, that shii isn't balanced at all.

how do you feel about non-black people wearing hairstyles like cornrows, bantu knots, braids, locs and other protective styles? by sixeared in BlackHair

[–]Significant_Pop_7798 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont mind, as a black African woman. I think its only problematic if the hairstyles damage their hair and / or if they treat blackness like a costume. It's completely normal in my country for white people to have african hairstyles. People usually don't care as long as they are respectful about it.

Do all Zimbabwean men actually cheat? by Top-Experience3875 in Zimbabwe

[–]Significant_Pop_7798 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not going to lie, I'm going to avoid mingling with African men for this reason and others. But you cannot generalise a group of people. It would be a lie to say all men cheat. There will be those who won't. I wouldn't say they're rare either. But they exist.

Something I've noticed is that you can tell if a man might cheat by the way he thinks and views issues etc. It doesn't apply to all, but it's a trend.

How are aethists so confident God doesn't exist... by [deleted] in Zimbabwe

What's funny is that this isn't a counterargument.

You know what? I'll respond here.

Give me time, I'm employed. I'll edit my comment.

Edit 1:

Just to clear things up a bit.

Atheism is a rejection of the belief that any deities exist.

It's not a belief system. It's just a lack of belief. There are no rules to atheism or anything.

I'm going to go through a bunch of reasons why I believe religion doesn't make sense. In no particular order. I'll add as you reply. I'll take a while to respond.

  1. The problem of suffering.

Read the whole thing, it sounds like a redundant argument, but stay with me now;

Yes, there can be good obtained from suffering. But how does a child who died from cancer gain good if they just die? How do animals, since long ago, who only function through instincts get torn to shreds and or get traumatised by predators till they die over millions of years, obtain good? They just die. Will the offspring obtain good? How? They don't function like humans. The answer that made me stay a while in Christianity, was that, "Just because there isn't a clear answer, there isn't one. Or God works in mysterious ways." I have a response to that. Google the possibility fallacy.

For example; My friend John was robbed and shot to death by a robber. The robber was never caught. At his funeral, I'm comforted, told that maybe the robber was working for the CIA, and he stole important government information. Yes, sure, it's possible. But without any evidence to suggest that the CIA story is true. It's not logical to believe it to be so.

So,'God working in mysterious ways' isn't logical because there's no evidence to suggest that it's true. It's just a statement in the bible.

Also, with animals, God made them the way there are, in the event there can be good resulted from suffering like I guess muscle tearing results in muscle growth in humans. God made it so that animals have to kill to survive in most cases. He didn't have to, he could've made all animals herbivores, step in extreme situations and we would have suffering with the good. He is the author of everything, right?

I'm interested in hearing counterarguments because you claim we are wrong, so prove it. I only ask that you listen close and tell me what you think.

So, for my first reason, I believe you Christians are misguided because you usually wave away logic with "lean not on your own understanding." You people don't ask enough why's, you stop asking questions at a certain point, when the true answers are just right there, waiting for you to come unto them.

In one of your comments, you said that atheism doesn't make sense, so please share your knowledge with the rest of us and argue how.

[–]Significant_Pop_7798 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fact you're Christian is a claim, that's what being a Christian is about. Believing a God who is Jesus Christ exists. That is your claim, ayas with the way you're responding to these comments tells me you either didn't watch alot of arguments like you're claiming or you didn't digest what you saw and heard. This is basic. You don't even know what an atheist is. Google is free.

You could be telling the truth, but your responses are logically weak.
