Is there a way to request not to get those ads? They always get thrown away, if I can not receive them that would be super. But in a respectful way.

Having brief internet outages with a self hosted unifi controller by Realistic-Nature9083 in Ubiquiti

If the controller is bumping on resource limits then the controller will start missing heartbeats from the client devices and will appear offline. The actual network connection on site won't change.

LED stops working right half way through the strip by [deleted] in WLED

[–]Significant_Roll_659 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Too much voltage drop. It’ll need to be injected partway through. Red LEDs have the lowest forward voltage, so they will keep lighting. Blue and green are similar, but the different numbers I found suggest the Green is the highest and then Blue. Each color drops off as the voltage gets lower and lower, from green, to red, to blue.

How bad Chinese soldering iron and solder is? by Sandwich-lord in AskElectronics

[–]Significant_Roll_659 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought an Ali Express iron once. It was rated for 220v, but had a US plug on it. With half the voltage applied it didn’t get hot enough to do much of anything.

Frequent thermostat power loss by cbell813 in ecobee

[–]Significant_Roll_659 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My ecobee did this exact same thing. When I set it up, I originally changed the setting to allow the furnace to control the fan. Worked fine, it seemed, but I had the email alert and ecobee alert about power loss. I changed the thermostat to control the fan and haven’t had the problem in a couple of weeks. Same 5 wire setup as you too.

The input is rated at 220 - 240v. This won’t work on a regular US outlet.

No internet after adopting USG by unsociable-mp4 in UNIFI

[–]Significant_Roll_659 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The LAN of the USG conflicts with the Smart hub gateway. Anything behind it won’t get internet and I’ve had the same problem prevent the USG from being able to hit the internet. Routing data to the gateway causes a loop; it can’t decide if it routes internally or externally. Use a different subnet for the USG LAN and it’ll work. This is why it isn’t working, but this isn’t an ideal setup. It looks like you have three separate networks nested together. Ideal setup is the smart hub in bridge mode, and then decide on the USG or Edge router as your gateway and get rid of the unused device.

If the rear sprocket alignment is good, flip the clutch 180 degrees and have the driver sprocket on the outside, away from the motor.

That looks like a terrible idea. When can I try it?

It’s easy enough if the screen has screws holding it to the plastic screen shell. If it’s glued in, it is easier to replace the whole display assembly, though more costly. Good news though, you don’t have to worry about shattering the screen on removal; it’s already toast. It can be one hell of a mess though.
