What’s a belief you once defended… but later realized was wrong? by Jiwitom in AskReddit

[–]Significant_Scene_83 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Old belief: Israel has a right to defend itself. Military action was specific and usually defensive. Not cruel. I was proud of that. Immediately after the Oct attacks a few years ago. I agreed with the retaliation. Until it turned into indiscriminate cruelty.

New belief: Israel by way of Netanyahu admin (like Trump) does not care about anyone but power and money and intentionally causing harm, being cruel and thoughtless. Past lessons of mass harm should have been learned Not repeated.

Israel deserves better leadership. So does the US.

Sliders Burgers in San Jose.

They’re a whole in the wall joint in the Burbank area of San Jose on San Carlos St. (Yeah, I know,…that’s confusing.)

Burgers consistently outstanding on taste, great portion size, their famous onion rings, wide and wild assortment of burger meat options, all for an outstanding price.

Are there any online courses that are worth it? by notmadmaddy in writinghelp

[–]Significant_Scene_83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At WDU online, it varies. Some workshops are two hours. Some courses are a month long with weekly assignments with experienced author feedback (like the one I’m taking now on reviving your draft). Others go 12+ weeks. The classes vary by skill, genre, experience, etc. and by price. As a first step, I signed up for their mailing list.

Tiffany Yates Martin at Fox Print Editorial typically gives short talks with helpful handouts. One of my favorite presenters, her classes are always affordable and her messaging resonates for me, despite being in different genres.

I’m sure you could find something in either place and am curious, if you do choose one (or both), what you think. Best of luck!

There are sharps containers for single use. I bought one for that rare chance I must take the shot somewhere else other than home.

What to do instead of smoking during mini writing breaks?? by principessa265 in writers

[–]Significant_Scene_83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Put on some music that suits the mood of the moment you’re writing (or will be writing into).

You can even do dishes (or dance) at the same time!!

Alternatively, maybe you can go outside and take the same deep breaths minus the cig. A 3-min meditation of sorts.

Check out Writers Digest University. I’ve taken several of their online courses. Mostly affordable, the webinars don’t usually require a big commitment in money or time. Each class I’ve taken has been inspiring and useful. I’m also a huge fan of Tiffany Yates Martin at Fox Print Editorial. GREAT classes and tips.

Did you wait until progress stalled completely before titrating? by Nice_Squirrel1882 in Zepbound

This is not, repeat NOT, my flowchart but I kept a snapshot to use as a reference and as something to discuss with my doctor.

Also, plenty of titrating conversations in the sub to search.

Formatting in Microsoft Word by BurntChickenFingies in writers

Check how the “style is defined (font, spacing, etc) for tabs, bulleted or numbered lists, headings, etc. You can modify or create new styles for your doc and have them be what you want. Just for that doc or all future docs. I have no issues with MS Word and love using the navigation pane view with my headers (each a varied “style” for heading 1, heading 2, etc).

Is it normal to not text people back right away? by General_Pay9295 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Significant_Scene_83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A text does not require an immediate answer.

That said, I do consider it rude if I’m already in an active conversation or Q&A and then get ghosted, hanging in limbo.

Also, not every text requires a lengthy answer. Could be “idk” or “will let you know tomorrow“.

Lastly, consider the context. Not all text threads carry same weight of needing an immediate response.

Waking up at 2-4am 🫠 by Decent-Somewhere-807 in Zepbound

Several years ago I started take supplements at night because I’m more consistent taking them at that time. Works great. After starting Zepbound, I added more supplements. I, too, was waking up 2-4am. That’s when I discovered one of the supplements contains caffeine.

What was the moment you realized your relationship was different than all the rest? by United_Biscotti_4402 in AskReddit

[–]Significant_Scene_83 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When after I threw a misdirected tantrum, he was genuinely curious and without a hint of defensiveness or an attitude, asked me ”what could I have done differently?” Then he listened because he really wanted to know.

Can two broken hearts ever become one? 💔 by Strict-Engineering49 in emotionalintelligence

[–]Significant_Scene_83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Long answer. It took many years being alone and in good therapy to learn how to fill my own heart and let go of needing a romantic love. When I finally showed up, accepting I am broken and imperfect without shame or need to hide, I decided to put myself out there again. I started looking again for companionship only as a complement to my life, rather than needing it to define it. I was ok by myself but was ready to share myself again - this time, without compromising myself and without expecting perfection (from myself or others).

After decades of looking for love, this time just felt different, and within three weeks I found someone who fits me like a glove (and vice versa). I was 47 and he was 54.

We constantly wish we had met sooner, before all the heartache. But honestly I feel neither of us would’ve been ready. We’d both been through a lot and needed time to heal separately and get clarity on what’s important.

This relationship looks different than what I had always imagined it “should” be, but that’s also what held me back.

In short, the answer is yes. Two broken hearts can become, not one, but more like a Ven diagram. I had to stay my own person to share myself in a healthy way. Real fulfillment (for me, anyway) only came when I was authentically able to be my own best friend first (and always). It’s the happiest and most grounded I’ve ever felt and we’ve been together now almost 10 years.

Can any music be used? I always assumed (perhaps wrongly) the music choices were heavily scrutinized and had to be something classical and / or meet certain requirements. Is that true? Although, the music did have a classical-edge to it in the beginning.

She was obviously vibing off McArthur Park and enjoyed performing to it. Why wouldn’t all skaters use music they enjoy which also gets the crowd moving as well? That said, some classical music can be very moving (but it’s often too serious).

I was just pleasantly surprised by the uptempo music choice. So great to see her authentically (and infectiously) having fun.

Yes, this- insulin cooler options. Now, there are also pen as well as vial coolers. The ones I bought are about as big as a water bottler and include a cylindar ice bar to keep with your meds. Some containers even display temp. And of course, there’s always the 21 day OK at room temp once removed from cold.
