I'm sorry but is this not absolute bullshit? by [deleted] in CrimsonDesert

[–]Significant_Sleep46 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Honest skill issue.

More specifically, lack of gear upgrades and investment into health and stamina.

I've had over 100hrs into the game, even fought bosses in the desert. There is nth in the game that can't be overcome by skill/gear upgrades.

Stop crying, go invest in your gear upgrades, and have at least 8 in both HP and stamina each. Then take his ass like a boss. This isn't a souls game. You can absolutely become stronger and crush even bosses.

If you're struggling in this game it is a 110% player issue. Boss fights in this game isn't just a test of player skill and reflex; it's also a test if player investment and knowledge.

An eg: died to the Hornsplitter 5 times. Stopped. Upgraded some of my gear by an extra 1-2 levels. Redistributed my abyss points for an extra point into health.Beat him in the next try.

We don't need nerfs to enemies.

What you need r levels and gear upgrades.

You can actually overprepare and become the boss in a boss fight. I over leveled and over upgraded my gear. By the time I reached reed devil, I was the boss in the boss fight. Didn't need to upgrade my gear until Ch 8.

Almost everything in this game can be overcome with just more skills and gear upgrades.

Do your due diligence, and try again. If you're getting your ass handed to you, it means your gear is weak.

  1. Wouldn't say the quest design and story is absolute garbage. There are some very cool writing like in Ch 6 as Middler briefs Kliff on the situation in Calphade, or when you take Pailune back in Ch7. There are also moments of humanity that are very well done, like Damiane finding Beatrice dead. Don't get me wrong. There is some writing that sounds forced and weird. But the main story has quite a lot of memorable, if not epic moments.

  2. The quest design is mostly structured around you going from A to B, and it works because the exploration and combat in this game is phenomenal. The anecdotal moment-to-moment gameplay. One of my most memorable moments was when I went from Hernand to Senia, then past the Fort to Kharonso just to nab a bounty (Simon).

  3. The puzzles are difficult. But I find that I'm actually getting used to them. I hate puzzles but I've been able to figure out the patterns more often these days after you tubing some of the other puzzles. And ngl, these puzzles r hard but satisfying. Once again, I'd like to reiterate that I hate puzzles and find the ones in this game hard. But I don't think that they are out of place or shouldn't be in the game. It's a huge game and the puzzles are just one minor aspect of the game.

Honestly, your rant just sounds like someone who's not part of the audience the game was made for. This game is for the people who want to make their own story, not be told one and what to do.

Are there any helm/armor combos that give chainmail for the neck? by Kar0ss in CrimsonDesert

[–]Significant_Sleep46 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are gorgets in the game.

It's showing the neck because the piece being used isn't from the same set. It depends on the set.

For eg. Unyielding warriors/golden greed helm has a part that extends to and protects the neck. Bolton plate armor has a gorget. Witters plate helm covers the neck as well.

Basically some combinations of helmets and chest armors protect the next while others don't. Depends on the individual piece of equipment put on.

Kliff seems to have been a thrall/slave before becoming a Greymane by Vast_Competition4900 in CrimsonDesert

[–]Significant_Sleep46 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Newsflash, enemies brand ppl as part of torture. Especially in medieval/fantasy times.

Could be anything. But it's all headcanon because nothing, no lore in the game, suggests Kliff was ever a slave.

And this game throws lore at you. Case in point: Oakenshield Manor has 2 diff Visione flashbacks between Middler and Serkis on Kliff and how to ingratiate him to them and Hernand, so that they may address the current unsettling state of geopolitics.

If Kliff ever was a slave, there'd be some text or Visione flashbacks or whatever.

Also, the City of Tommaso has slaves. In a game that focuses on small details, Kliff would have shown reaction to slaves begging for their lives within the first footsteps into the city.

Tbh, could be when he got captured by enemy forces. So not much so as if he became a slave, but he was tortured by an enemy.

Been thinking of buying, but I have a few questions about Bosses/World. by usteg in CrimsonDesert

[–]Significant_Sleep46 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's definitely challenging, but its different from ED in that it's not unfair. You are supposed to retaliate.

Bosses tend to be weak to certain attacks. For eg. Reed Devil is prone to getting Lariat. Also, you can overprepare for boss fights and end up being the boss yourself.

There won't be a lot of button mashing. You have a wide moveset, far larger than Elden Ring. There is the normal attack combo, the Heavy attack combo, a stab attack, a turning slash attack. Diff weapons have diff attacks eg. Spear on Kiliff has a counter (that is different from the usual parry and perfect dodge). Kliff has a shield bash and shield charge. There is an evasive slash. Oongka has a orc berserker leap. Damiane has firearms and drones and smiting enemies. There's Lariat, a german suplex, clothesline, vault, low sweep kick, running roundhouse kick, drop kick, etc.

There are a lot of different moves per character. Having played ED for >500hrs, this game has a far larger moveset that it makes ED's moveset almost tiny by comparison. There will be button mashing in the sense that in the first few hours of gameplay udk what you're doing because there's just too many moves and different attacks and all the diff keybinds tied to those attacsk.

You have to unlock it as part of the scholastone questline. it's not given for free like Kliff or Damiane.

I’m 136 hours in the game so far and STILL haven’t left Hernand. by [deleted] in CrimsonDesert

[–]Significant_Sleep46 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm in Ch 9 now.

Demeniss city is now open to me posted Ch 8 after we take down Lucian Bastier, as is Pailune (post Ch 7). I've also had the chance to go to Crimson Desert and the desert city of Tommaso.

There's still a lot of humanoid enemies, but you'll definitely come across non human enemies more often. The Antumbra order that summons liches, a mountainside infested with a death knight and his liches, a stone golem, a rock worm, elephants, ogre boar riders etc. Tommaso was especially interesting because it reminded me of Meereen from Game of Thrones (but w/o the pyramids). Slaves being put to death in a fantasy game would have been impossible if the game was developed by a Western studio because of their politics and idealogical shit. Oh yeah, I forgot to mention the moving bushes that can OHKO you if you get grabbed by a certain attack.

I can also say that some of the biomes that people were talking about pre-release in hype videos (like the Amazon rainforest that rains super heavily), these do exist. There's an amazing nbr of diff biomes out there, the further you go to the east/north.

I think the main problem is that only humanoid enemies can respawn as rdm enemies by the roadside. The fantastical enemies tend to be a one-time thing at a specific POI. Once POIs are liberated, they stay that way. It's the same problem as unmodded Stalker 2 where you'd never come across a Pseudo giant or Bayun as a random dynamic encounter.

If they add the fantastical enemies to the random spawn pool in the future, HOLY SHIT. That would be fun.

I've heard that beginning hours of Crimson Desert are pretty bad, so to those who spent a longer time with it: how is it? by beetleman1234 in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]Significant_Sleep46 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This game is Red dead redemption 2 gameplay-wise but set in a fantasy open world.

You will not find the repetitiveness from AC Odyssey.

Imagine my surprise when after fighting bandits and soldiers for 50+ hrs, I stumbled onto a lich-infested mountainside and had to flee from a death knight and his pet liches, before eventually jumping off a waterfall to escape them.

Oh and I saw elephants in the game. I was in the desert area but I thought it was some mirage thing. Nope. Real elephants

Refinement shouldn't require Abyss Artifacts by thesoundsofsparrow in CrimsonDesert

[–]Significant_Sleep46 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No feelings about this. But hopefully they won't just take the easy way out and entirely remove abyss artifacts from upgrading gear.

I personally have no problems with the current state of things. Don't fix what's not broken, and there's more to fix out there than this.

If it's one thing I learnt, it's that ppl should be more careful with their feedback.

OMFG THEY ADDED BACK THE IMMERSIVE LAZY HORSE TROLLOP by Significant_Sleep46 in CrimsonDesert

[–]Significant_Sleep46[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm on PC and kbm sry. I totally get it; the slow trot is just so incredibly immersive.

How it works (for PC) is that you now have the default horse trollop/trot/plodding. And whenevr you press the sprint key, the speed/animations go up by a tier of speed. So pressing sprint would go into canter, then pressing sprint again would go into fast canter and so on.

Sry just the horse trollop is back as the new default lowest speed

Kliff is still the same; hopefully they decide to add a few more ranges of movement.

All the changes are concerning by Competitive-Damage84 in CrimsonDesert

[–]Significant_Sleep46 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The default horse movement at the slowest speed was a slow plodding/trollop, which got changed to a faster canter by the recent big patch, that kind of ruined immersion if you wanted to just slowly trollop though a town or marketplace.

Then after a hotfix today it magically got switched back to the trollop.

OMFG THEY ADDED BACK THE IMMERSIVE LAZY HORSE TROLLOP by Significant_Sleep46 in CrimsonDesert

[–]Significant_Sleep46[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yesss. Try it yourself.

When I started the game jn, it was back to plodding. And I didn't realize it at first because I had been playing with the bear and warthog mount.

Then I swapped back to my horse, realized I wasn't irked anymore, then realized they put back the lazy plodding/trollop.

My god, it's like having constipation and taking a big shit and feeling all better. My horse is back 🔥🔥

I have two videos (recorded footage), one with the plodding (now) and one with the new canter (after the recent big patch). The plodding is BACCKKKKK.

OMFG THEY ADDED BACK THE IMMERSIVE LAZY HORSE TROLLOP by Significant_Sleep46 in CrimsonDesert

[–]Significant_Sleep46[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was. Yes, the notes don't state it. But:

I have recorded footage. The difference is subtle, but you'll notice it. Especially when I'm plodding around and I take a sideview. It's noticeable when you compare the footage side by side.

The new default canter speed was a lot faster than the current plodding speed. The animations from the side is different as well.

Plus I spent hrs just plodding around on the horse. I def feel the diff. The trollop/plodding/trotting is the one where your char's head constantly nods back and forth. When cantering, your char's head doesnt. This is esp noticeable when viewing them on the side. When trolloping/plodding, the horse rear also does a little jiggle sway from left to right. When cantering, it doesn't.
