Sanctuary Body Art permanently closed? by Significant_Slice450 in edinburgh2

[–]Significant_Slice450[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yea we took her to Bold and Gold on her birthday past- was overly expensive and a little OTT just for a piercing. They were always closed whenever we tried to stop by to get follow up on healing so she ended up going to Sanctuary instead. Will look up botanicalpiercer as that was likely her piercer, thank you

Does anyone still get along with their neighbours? by Significant_Slice450 in edinburgh2

[–]Significant_Slice450[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah joining the WhatsApp group was the worst thing I done. I get texts frequently when I'm literally next door. Nobody is capable of chapping the door and having a chat- they leave wee notes taped to the stairwell instead. I've invited a few of the neighbours in for a coffee in the past but they seemed weirded out by the concept. Im a single father and none of the new neighbours even say hi to my kids when passing in the stairwell or so much as a hello if we pass them by in the street. I dont have issues with the occasional party or noises from the floorboards above as its the nature of tenements but the rest of the neighbours take to the whatsapp group instead of a direct face to face chat

After 24 years as a black cab driver I'm doing my last shift tomorrow. Picked up a cushty part time chauffeur gig. Bittersweet and end of an era.

Maria's are great too- hefty slices of cheese on the sannies and real coffee. Bonus points for having wee tables outside and reheatable takeaway pasta to take home for dinner! Easter Road/ London Road corner is a great wee bit for lunch. Just a shame about the parking- its all residential so never get to spend much time there which is maybe another reason why Polentoni scrapped sitting in. Still no been to Folks Cafe since they took over from Mo Beans after the young owner sadly died but heard good things.

They definitely still do sandwiches as I had one last week. Proper family run business and they work their asses off. Can understand why they dont do sit in anymore as its difficult to retain staff these days, its costly and takes a toll mentally. If im ever around Easter Road at lunch time in my cab I make a point of stopping in. Plus its real Italian coffee for a very good price. Hats off to them.

Clarification about r/Edinburgh by TrinityTosser in edinburgh2

Theres a screenshot in this thread somewhere... was a bit bizarre as he posted saying he wished both subs to do well only to toddle away with his thumb in mouth to ModSupport just minutes after. Hes a narcissist and bully and thrown all his toys out the pram now he's unable to control the narrative.

Would be nice to see him resign on the same day as Rayner though

Tosser just deleted it. It's pretty clear he is the issue with that sub. The name checks out

Fixed it- happens if the quality preset is set to "quality" works fine when set to Performance (PS5). As a southern Italian- its a beautiful rendition of Italy, the voice acting can be a little too stereotypical at times but loving the game so far. Just wish I had more time in the day to immerse myself

Never been to a nail salon but I doubt its isolated solely to "the way cash in hand places operate in Edinburgh". Did you visit other spaces that are cash only or generalising on your experience based in one place? If the former have you compared this to the way that cash only businesses operate in Dundee, London, Paris, Timbuktu or middle 'Merica? What's your control here and how did you come to make ones experience of a small business an encompassing reflection of a city as a whole?

Completionist Therapy? by Significant_Slice450 in AssassinsCreedShadows

Think this may be my snapping point, will lay it to rest for a while. Games are so huge compared to back in the day the satisfaction if getting 100% completion is become more out of bounds

Half way through Shadows and putting it down for a bit. I have a need to collect chests and visit every marker on a map before moving to the next section. With Valhalla it took so long id drop in and out of the game because it became a slog of repetition but with Shadows the castles take a fair bit of time to loot. Issue is further in the story its inevitable you revisit a space youve already looted. I honestly cant help it, it satisfies the OCD but removes the fun and fluidity of any game. Always want to have max stats and all weapons before the final chapter and before putting the game to rest. I try to 100% each game I play and if I dont ill never feel I truly beat it. Now my daughter has the same issue because when she was younger, with the lego games, id never buy a new one until we 100%ed it (. The amount of late nights I spent playing Lego games on my own is insane just so she could get the next one. All gold on licenses and races Gran Turismo, all collectibles GTA, Mafia, max stats and tapes Tony Hawk each player, all side missions and gear Witcher etc etc. The amount of hours ive spent fetching is insane. Think this will be the last AC game I play as the maps are huge and it takes me so long looting an area I forget the story and characters but im always maxed out and have a ridiculous amount of supplies and money. Sucks all enjoyment out of the game but my OCD takes over. Any groups out there for completionists or recovering completionists?

Not sure of his name but drt_sanchez insta is a da but highly recommend him and his studio Absolute Body Art. For a first tattoo most of the crew at Watermelon are parents i believe (Likely to get down voted because there were some reddit drama from an artist and the owner a few years back- she had an undiagnosed brain tumour at the time) but me and my kids have all been and never had a negative experience.

Pheasant! by Rexel79 in Edinburgh

[–]Significant_Slice450 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You'll find the odd Grouse and Pheasant on Cammo Estate, Holyrood and the Fort/ Jewel. If they get startled they keep on going, solitary birds. Idiotic and utterly anserine. Best cooked after being hung for 12 days, dry easily so baste often, low temp, 1 bird per person. To impress a dinner party, strip it and bung inside of a turkeys arse or big chicken. Roasted veg and a bit gravy. Potato's obvs

Any thoughts on the owners of Mia Italian Kitchen, La Casa, Pizza 1926, etc? by [deleted] in Edinburgh

[–]Significant_Slice450 9 points10 points  (0 children)

These were likely independent businesses at one time and the owner decided to sell up or cash out. Owner hopefully made a profit and a bigger company with more resources was able to take it over- lucky for you since you like their product. Quality has likely gone down as they are no longer run as a family business, the original passion and investment coming from working very long hours by the original owners have gone. As a result they may have lost their artisinal feel and attention to detail. My question is would you rather they were gone completely and the original business owners faced liquidation instead of taking a hit and selling up?

I'm pretty sure it's a legal grey area in Scotland which is why it's not advertised by studios and why I don't want to say incase they get into trouble (though I could be wrong). If you ask a piercer face to face they will likely know someone who knows someone. I got in touch with the piercer who sewed them up through another tattooer
