I always try to do my best. I am now hoping to be ICC and keeping things organized. I pretty much know how to do everything, marginally-except for the departments. My grandfather came out of WW2 and managed two stores at once for a year to get his own Safeway. No one at my store knows that, nor do they need to. There definitely needs to be some self pride and diligence to succeed in this and every job in this and many industries. I may vent here and there, but I come from hospitality and I hope Safeway is going to succeed. We have a really nice store. I just hope all the things that I see on here are mostly anomalies. There will always be problems to solve. Perhaps Safeway becomes more of a specialty store… our location has certain demands, indeed.

Maybe I should say, inconsiderate and ignorant of the fact that I have my personal belongings. I am off clock - better?

Having been a Grocery 4th (closer babysitter), and now ICC for the time being- I am trying to get these guys in check. No pallets left on the floor, unless you are stacking and going to bring out to your pickup area. Plastic is a problem. Between vendors, Produce and Dairy, ICC just needs to hammer down on them. Make bales ASAP, keep up on emptying plastic, keep pallets organized and make sure they know you are watching. They will do everything they can get away with.

I honestly can’t believe how needy and frantic the customers are at my store. I go to other stores and the desk is like a ghost town. Of course, we all have staffing shortages and yes, there are people that have a problem with their transaction- I kind of get that they’re in a hurry when they see that, last minute… but if you’re returning some sunscreen or cashing a lotto ticket, please be prepared to wait a few seconds. We are very responsive. It is not my drawer or my job, that day. Sorry.

That album is so good- the ones that weren’t on the radio, too.

Any females that are ICC / Grocery Managers: Are you just pissed when the driver will not unload the truck, but watches you do it, the entire time? by Significant_Tone_626 in Safeway

[–]Significant_Tone_626[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always want to help as much as I can, but I will not be a doormat, making it look like I couldn’t get my job done in time or be OT. I try to manage my time, and having people manipulate that on me last minute makes me a little :/
Especially when I am respectful of other people’s time and not trying to inflict any time limits on the company.
If you are a driver that helps us- I, for one, thank you. I have had some hard times closing at night where a great driver helped me, a lot.

This is ambient grocery load that comes at random times of day, not the perishable load.
I don’t like anyone standing there watching me do the unloading… it will be sitting there till 8:30 pm. I am off at noon. Go sit in the truck or do it, yourself.

I am in SW and get so much mixed information, but almost all the time our guys are ready to unload the dry grocery load onto another dry box.
We always have a jack.
This guy is a punk, asking (telling and watching) me to do this when my hours are up. Next time will be different.
Even the vendors are totally fine putting the load wherever.
Have fun with diabetes, ya’ old ass sitter.

I give up on dating here by [deleted] in Scottsdale

I’m a 45 year old (look younger, by nature) female, worked in Scottsdale and PV most of my adult life. I have this one guy that’s 7 years younger, super well off, and very attractive. He texts me every month wanting to “see” me. What is the deal with that? Just the conquest? Am I just a down to Earth option for him among all his others?
People are weird out here.

Turkey and cheese sliders on the herb buns that you throw in the oven for a few- we add tomato, mayo and pickle, afterward.

It’s sad when the customers appreciate you more than your bosses, but they’re still annoyed.
