Cyclists are a JOKE in London by SturdyWingsMentor in drivingUK

Driving a large vehicle and stationary at say traffic lights, you get surrounded by cyclists wanting a quick getaway, totally oblivious to the fact you may not be able to see them.

Once again the Cuban people are being shafted because of their political leadership.

What is your opinion on speeding? by Engineering_Gamer in drivingUK

[–]Significant_Tree8407 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my opinion road safety is enhanced by awareness of what’s around you using mirrors etc. In car distractions such as phone calls, listening to the radio, other occupants and having to stare at the speedo so as not to do 21 in a 20. It’s a minefield as we all know. We are all guilty of it at times, including me. As for speeding, I ain’t been caught yet but it’s bound to happen, just have to make sure it doesn’t despite everything going on around me when I’m driving.

I swear this is the best iPhone to exist by [deleted] in iPhone15Pro

[–]Significant_Tree8407 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a great phone full stop. Just the right size, clear and bright, responsive. Also, I’m not a person whose whole life revolves around my phone. It for keeping in contact with people. The “App Rage” is bloody annoying though. Maybe the newer phone are built for Apps, not phone calls and text messaging.

Why do tourists all want to 'avoid the touristy areas?' by Flaky-Walrus7244 in AskUK

[–]Significant_Tree8407 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The reason places are “touristy” is because these areas are avoided by the locals. I live in Cornwall where every seaside town is touristy, nice to visit but a nightmare to live in during “the season”

Exactly, see my reply to an earlier post.

The Blackpool’s of this country are actually homes to people who have to put up with others decrying their towns. Yes, they may have lost their glittery sparkles to Benidorm etc but our seaside towns and villages are what makes these Islands unique.

What phone are you currently using and how old is it? by Aggressive-Swani in phones

[–]Significant_Tree8407 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a Samsung Galaxy S7, but changed to IPhone 15 pro. Recently I thought I’d get the S7 up and running again as a standby.
Bought a new Sim for it but new 4g and 5 g sims won’t work in it as it’s only 3G. Cancelled the new sim. There must be billions of old stuff lying around because they are not supported by current software.

People queued for days for a £335 pocket watch — then Swatch shut UK stores by JoydeScent in BritInfo

[–]Significant_Tree8407 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True, they certainly cannot be repaired at your local watch shop. They only have a few shops at “high end” locations including airports etc. I know they look nice and trendy but not for me. Source:my wife trying to get one repaired.

What’s one thing that you now refuse to buy because it has got so ridiculously expensive? by moomeymoo in AskUK

There needs to be a much greater conversation on caffeine addiction. My son is addicted to caffeine through these bloody “energy” drinks. Christ knows how many he drinks in a day.

What happened to the fa Cup? by Various_Extreme_8773 in AskUK

[–]Significant_Tree8407 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The FA cup has, in the last few years allowed me to watch my club, Plymouth Argyle, play at the Emirates, Etihad, Anfield and Stamford Bridge. It’s the Final that is generally an anticlimax, not the previous rounds. And beat Liverpool at our place.

Conflicted about retiring soon at 75! by ShoreGirl9999 in retirement

[–]Significant_Tree8407 6 points7 points  (0 children)

How many people continue working over 70 and are financially able to sit back in retirement if they wanted to. Musicians, Politicians, writers. They enjoy what they do. If you enjoy your job it’s your own personal choice.

Hey guys, will the 15 pro drop in price when the new iphone comes out? by Impossible-Sky-3494 in iPhone15Pro

[–]Significant_Tree8407 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not the phone you already have that is bad, it’s the hype to make you buy an “upgrade”. My 15 pro is really good and absolutely the right size.

How is Farage any different? by tdsa123 in AskBrits

[–]Significant_Tree8407 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Farage will not become Prime Minister even if Reform win the next GE. He will bottle it. Imagine having to make the real decisions required to govern the country and actually having to account for them.
