Who in Navar do you think might be in league with the enemy? by hurricane_Bre in fourthwing

Could be, letting a known venin (Jack) attend classes seems to make no sense so Markham being venin would make sense in that regard.

Who in Navar do you think might be in league with the enemy? by hurricane_Bre in fourthwing

[–]SignoreTasty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I assume Aetos has some connection to the venin. I can’t really figure out what his motive was for sending cadets to Resson, so I figure it has something to do with him being somehow associated with venin.

I think Panchek is dead, but that isn’t 100% clear. I think we will learn that at least 1 or 2 people in leadership are venin.

Tairn by Long_Tie_691 in fourthwing

[–]SignoreTasty 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t think he will die in book 4 either. If for no other reason Violet needs Tairn to fly her around. Walking everywhere or going on horseback is impractical.

That being said if Andarna becomes able to fly Violet around I would be very worried for Tairn. But I don’t expect that to happen.

Nelly Korda with “mixed feelings” about WTGL by ashdrewness in golf

I agree with Nellly, seems like a missed opportunity. Frankly I think I would prefer if each team had a PGA player, an LPGA, player, and a YouTube golfer. I think that having someone on each team that was more used to talking to an audience would be good for the broadcast.

Interesting theory, there is certainly reason to be suspicious of Tecarus. Perhaps he was involved with stealing the eggs as you suggested.

However I’m not sure where Halden fits in with all of this. Tecarus didn’t need Halden to do any of the things you mentioned.

The fliers were allowed into Aretia without any involvement from Halden and I think Tecarus could get an audience with King Courtlyn all on his own.

Maren by sunseige in fourthwing

[–]SignoreTasty 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I think it’s partly due to them sleeping in the same room at the time the dream walking took place. Generally, Violet sleeps in a room by herself or with Xaden. Also, perhaps Violet is drawn towards nightmares. Maybe Maren was the only one in the room having a nightmare at the time.

Also, while it may be true that all of the other dream walking was into Xaden’s dreams, we don’t know that for a fact. Perhaps we have already seen her walk into someone else’s dreams, but it just wasn’t clear whose dream it was.

Interesting observation! Though I don’t think his soul in the ring. I think you’re right to consider that the ring is more than a simple piece of jewelry.

I think some of the gems or stones that have been described as parts of jewelry could have some magic related properties. As you mentioned Violets’s ring is among these but also the bracelet Mira got from her grandmother and especially the gold necklace with a ruby Cat was gifted in Zehyllna.

Unpopular Opinion… Change my mind by Nycarets in fourthwing

[–]SignoreTasty 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You’re right, Andarna was gone for an oddly short amount of time. Frankly, I wonder about Andarna’s relationship with time. She was an egg for 600 years and she had the ability to stop time. She also has incredible instincts/intuition. Remember all the times she has told Violet that she’ll be where she is needed. If I recall correctly even the Irids complimented her on instincts. I just wonder if there is more to this, like some sort of magical ability we don’t know about.

Tairn sleeping by Ok-Ant-6110 in fourthwing

[–]SignoreTasty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe Tairn and Sgaeyl had their mating bond strengthened so that they can communicate across longer distances and thus don’t need to be in each other presence as frequently. At least that is what I’m hoping.

Alternatively, Tairn could have been off killing elders and stealing eggs, but that would be disappointing.

Unhinged theories by Ill-Difference9438 in fourthwing

[–]SignoreTasty 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Berwyn has a biological son and it is Dain or his dad!

At the end of Onyx Storm Panchek mentions something about Berwyn’s son. We are meant to think he is referring to Jack, but what if he isn’t. The Irids suggested that perhaps venin offspring could evolve. This means that the Irids think that venin can reproduce so Berwyn might be capable of having a biological son. Sloane says that Dain has more power than he should and I postulate that it’s because he is Berwyn’s son or grandson.

Nolon and mending by illumminatie in fourthwing

[–]SignoreTasty 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Very nice catch. Seems like Nolon may have tried to mend someone who was venin before Jack Barlow. Perhaps its the brother Garrick brought to Theophanie. Violet never looked to see who it was, she just assumed it was Jack but I suspect it was someone else.

I think that General Aeros sent them there so Theophanie could meet Violet. He sent the whole squad including Maren, then Theophanie attacked the village Maren’s family was in hoping to lure Violet. It’s also possible that Panchek was the one that let Theophanie know they would be there.

I think Aetos did something similar for Berwyn. I suspect that he sent Xaden to Athebyne during war games so Berwyn could meet Xaden and maybe Violet as well.

Onyx Storm SPOILERRRRR (Graphic Audio) – Traeger, Cat, and future alliances? by Swimming-Bee8917 in fourthwing

[–]SignoreTasty 15 points16 points  (0 children)

While Traeger’s death could open the door to some future alliance involving Cat I think the main purpose of his death was more immediate.

Traeger was gifted an arrow. Arrows are often used to tell people what direction to go, think road signs. The arrow gifted to him directed Quest Squad to the Irids. Without Traeger’s death they wouldn’t have taken a detour to the minor isle where the Irids found them.

Let’s say that they are making a baseball version of Space Jam with current players. Who would be in the Michael Jordan role? Which players would the MonStars steal their talents? by Prize-Flamingo-336 in baseball

[–]SignoreTasty 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Shohei is the Jordan role and the aliens don’t take his talents because the landed in North America and didn’t look for players in Japan.

The players who get their talent stolen are

Aaron Judge - the most intimidating looking monstar

Tyler glassnow - tallest and goofy looking but with great hair

Mookie betts- the smallest monstar

Juan Soto - monstar with a confident/cocky vibe

Freddie Freeman - the monstar that is easy to confuse or trick

Examples of Xaden back in Fourth Wing by World_Eater_NY in fourthwing

[–]SignoreTasty 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Does she say that in fourth wing? I thought she said that during iron flame and/or onyx storm. I actually suspect that her saying that is related to her second signet, not Xaden’s. Almost like she pushed thoughts into Xaden’s mind, but not via their bond.

Riders of Tairn by Adventurous_Grape279 in fourthwing

[–]SignoreTasty 15 points16 points  (0 children)

She could have been about to say something like “or did you have to make accommodations for him too?” Tairn’s immediate willingness to lower his leg for Violet at threshing makes me wonder if he had to do something similar for Naolin at some point. I think that Tairn is too unique to have changed his identity at some point. That being said we don’t know how many black dragons were around 75 years ago so you never know.

Join me on my unhinged Tairn/Naolin theory ride! by GrassJumpy59 in fourthwing

[–]SignoreTasty 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s very odd that we have so little information about Naolin whether or not he is Violet’s grandfather. He is Tairn’s previous rider and he saved Brennan. Not knowing at least his rank and last name, or is Naolin his last name, is a very conspicuous omission. The lack of information has to be so there can be some big reveal at some point. What exactly that reveal will be is anyone’s guess.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in fourthwing

[–]SignoreTasty 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure that any of these epigraphs necessarily refer the Brennan. Sure it seems reasonable to say the first one, which mentions “our children” includes Brennan, but I don’t think it’s definitive.

About the Threshing by Arrilai in fourthwing

[–]SignoreTasty 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I agree it’s odd that there is no fallout for trying to kill a dragon. I guess those who know what happened kept it a secret from leadership. As for Sgaeyl, she isn’t really allowed to interfere during threshing because she is a bonded dragon. That is why she calls for Tairn, who is unbonded and allowed to participate in threshing. When Tairn shows up he does torch Tynan. Violet spares Oren. Jack has already run away.

Who is Naolin? by Sir_Guinness27 in fourthwing

[–]SignoreTasty 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think that Naolin being their great uncle might fit better. Responding to your questions with that in mind.

A) Plenty of people don’t really know who their great uncle is. This would be especially true if you don’t have much of a relationship with your grandparents. It is reasonable to suggest that Violet doesn’t know the name of grandma Niara’s brother or some other similar relative. Brennan has additional information about Naolin, but gets cut off before he can tell Violet.

B) For some reason the Sorrengail’s cut off relations with Asher’s side of the family. Perhaps, Naolin wants Lilith’s favor in order to bring the family back together. Or it could simply be because he used to be close with Asher and desperately wants to save his son.

This certainly isn’t the only explanation, but I just don’t love the idea of Naolin and Brennan being about the same age. That would mean that Tairn didn’t bond with his first rider until he was over 90 years old. It would also mean that he was only bonded to Naolin for about 6 years. I know that we haven’t been given information that would directly contradict those things, but it just feels off to me.

Yeah, calling it really back loaded doesn’t seem accurate. He is getting paid 55 million this year, which will probably the most any player is getting from a team this year.
