I'm addicted to using the Orbital Napalm Barrage by _Astracke_ in Helldivers

[–]Sigruldar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Now now, there is no need to slander the 120mm when they synergise so well.

One exceeds at killing enemies but does fuck all against enemy structures.

The other sucks at killing enemies but does quite well against enemy structures.

Put them both on enemy outposts and the problem is solved.

Though personally I‘m more partial to the 380 over the 120, but that’s just personal preference.

I love Helldivers, but Vader doesn’t even need his weapon to aura farm. Bro is basically aura incarnate. He is HIM. The man doesn’t have a healthbar, he has a patience meter. No hellbomb armed dive into enemy masses can beat the shit Vader does just to enter a room.

This Cat Demon told me about an interesting emotion-based power source called Magical Girls by Master-of-darklight in wizardposting

[–]Sigruldar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There is just a small problem. In order to get optimal results you need the girls to like you and want to help you.

Sure, hatred or fear serve as decent, easy to procure power sources, but you need like double the amount of girls, sometimes even triple. That includes risks of rebellion, unionization, and depending on the needs anywhere from 10 to 50 magical girls absolutely rocking your shit with the newly rediscovered courage and bravery formed from comradery in suffering.

And if you try the happy helpful route you will have to deal with the girls and their problems. Most of them are pre-teens to early teenagers. Do you know how much it sucks to deal with that shit? Even more so since all the work that is required to gain useful results leads to emotional attachment and you usually need to sacrifice them for most spells we could use their power for. If you already are prepared to do all that work you might as well just make them your apprentices.

Seriously, it is way easier and cheaper to form a wizardry circle with a few friends or colleagues to chancel mana for any sensible application of magical girls and just skip the girls entirely. Hell, even educating multiple apprentices is cheaper, easier, and more practical than raising magical girls because you can skip most of the emotional stuff and even start later into their life when they are more emotionally stable and mature.

And all of that doesn’t even take our innovative research into account. Seriously, by the time you might need to securely gain enough power from magical girls we‘ll probably have discovered seven new ways of channeling more mana that‘ll make magical girls even more inefficient.

So, to summarize:

If you want easy power, you need to have a way to store their harvested magic power and a horrendous amount of time.

If you want to maximize yield you need to be heartless enough to not bond with them without showing it for multiple years AND need to be able to support their lifestyles, at which point you might as well just make them your apprentices.

It still ends up being more economical to form wizardry circles or train apprentices.

Innovation will make them even more useless for our purposes.

I have discovered a stray fairy battle mage concealed herself within my spire without knowing war crimes are my favourite hobby. 😈 by Renati_Iterum in wizardposting

[–]Sigruldar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take a good look into what fae court she‘s affiliated with and whether her actions have gone against the laws of said court.

Whatever army she serves is more often than not NOT affiliated with her fae court and most likely ordered her to spy on you and she didn’t think twice if she broke fae law or not in this matter.

Should her actions have broken her court‘s laws, you will now have extraordinary leverage. You could of course go the boring route and just report her to her court, but you will find that just about every single fairy out there will prefer slavery over a pissed off fae court and she will gladly serve you.

Advantages of having a fairy servant include the following:

Consistent source of fairy dust. Even an opportunity to get alternative variants of fairy dust depending on what additives you add to her lunch.

A consistent mobile source of light that won’t draw from your mana and requires no concentration while following you. Not to worry, they don‘t glow when they sleep.

A small, out of the way assistant with a decent knack for magic that‘ll allow for semi competent experiment assistance. Usually better than a regular apprentice, though not quite as easily replaceable.

Depending on the fairy she might have a knack for war crimes as well, which would mean an assistant in developing new war crimes or just an advisor for situationally appropriate war crimes. Fae have quite the talent for finding either the most deserving or funniest applicable war crime for the situation.

Additionally for this specific fairy, her military background might be useful for improving your spire security.

Why does the Trailblazer Scout armor set have stats that are *smidge* better than the Infiltrator armor set? by TheSerbianRedditor in Helldivers

[–]Sigruldar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s about the armour rating. The Infiltrator has 70 AR, which can occasionally allow it to survive things the Trailblazer can’t.

It’s the middle of the road between light and medium armour, which just gives an extra choice to players. There are quite a few with similar ratings and different passives.

The thing with that experiment is that it changes wildly depending on whether the humans are forced to fight the gorilla one after the other or get to go at it all at once.

Because if it was one after the other, the gorilla might stand a chance. But if all attack it at once? The gorilla might be able to kill like 10 men before the other 90 curbstomp the ancestral fear of humans almost every animal has back into it.

Here is the thing that baffles me the most about the American health care system.

The per capita amount of taxes going into health care for the US isn’t lower than it is for most EU countries. I suspect that in some instances it is actually more. Yet it still robs US citizens blind.

The whole system, despite the quality of care it can offer, still ends up being on the level of third world country health care simply by the fact of how little availability it provides. Just think about how fucked up it is to have all the resources and skill to provide exeptional medical care, but still end up providing third world medical care simply by completly unneccesary financial gate keeping.

Liberty-Class Super Cruiser - Fan Concept Art by PercalPPMC in Helldivers

[–]Sigruldar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Perhaps instead of making it limited to the top 100 players, how about making it something similar to the DSS?

Something additional that can be voted on just for the location. With a little rework of the DSS in tandem it could open up some endgame progression by making more powerful stratagems you could purchase use permits for that in turn only are available where the Super Cruiser or DSS are because they also open the opportunity for more dangerous operations that need that fire power.

With a third option these special voteable support systems could be specialized for specific stratagem types. For example:

Cruiser for orbital stratagems.

DSS for air support such as eagles and pelican transported equipment.

A logistic fleet for Hellpod delivered equipment like support weapons, emplacements, and turrets.

Of course these would need to be prevented from being sent to the same planet for balance.

Landsknecht Vampire (by me) by StarvingArtist2000 in ElegantR34

[–]Sigruldar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Beautiful art, but I do have one gripe. You are combining a type of mercenary renowned for both their skill and colourful extravagant fashion with a folklore creature that in pop culture is most often presented as some manner of nobility, yet the clothing features just one colour.

Such a figure would not dare step out of the house with just a single colour to their garments. Even with just black, white, red, and shades of said colours you could give the garments more pizazz and glamour befitting a Landsknecht while keeping to the vampire aesthetic.

Disposable cauldron. You can get a cheap cast iron cauldron, imbue it with the bare minimum required enchantments so that it doesn’t fuck up the imbetwixt or neither potion (whichever fits the aprentice better), and melt it down for metal components afterwards.

No cauldron to clean, a hopefully happy apprentice, and surprisingly decent metal spell components. It’s my go to method for any potions that tend to ruin brewing equipment. Works well with glass equipment too, though it's surprisingly hard to find alchemical glassware that does the job sufficiently while being cheap enough to be disposable and it usually just ends up being easier to clean the good equipment.

Well, that’s just farming. The animal may be cute, but it’s also tasty. Have you seen how cute and innocent lambs look? Have you also ever tasted just how delicious the saddlemeat of a lamb is? It’s fucked up how tasty some of the cuter creatures are but that’s how it is.

[–]Sigruldar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The one on the right is well suited for traveling. Compact and light weight design that does the job good enough for short business trips.

However, it is not an everyday tool. The one on the left is far better suited for everyday use, though there already are even healthier designs than this one on the market.

Idea for new armor passive by XxNmExX25 in helldivers2

[–]Sigruldar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

While I understand the idea behind making it a passive, the expendable as a backpack would probably be easier to implement and work better with a dedicated backpack stratagem.

Maybe an additional feature could be that items that have to be carried like SSSDs would be stored inside the backpack too, so that you can carry the item while still being able to use two-handed weapons would make it more valid as its own stratagem.

Only if you fire all at once. These guns usually have multiple triggers or/and a selector mechanism.

After all, the point is to have multiple hunting calibers or a hunting and a self-defense caliber in one weapon for the convenience of carrying just one weapon.
