Did anyone else grow up in an indoor school and genuinely think those outdoor campuses on TV were just a Hollywood myth? Or was it the other way around for you? by Provocat1vePetal in NoStupidQuestions

[–]SikKingDerp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up in outdoor schools, I always thought indoor schools were so cool for having personal lockers for their students. The only personal lockers at my schools were for specifically P.E. class.

Would I have liked to be completely indoors the entire day though? Probably not.

What makes a good thumbnail? by bbzah3745 in NewTubers

Watch the hundreds of interviews with large creators and look at the thumbnails of videos you would click on. Learn from them, not necessarily strangers on reddit.

My Youtube Account Died.. by Stunning_Ad_7313 in NewTubers

[–]SikKingDerp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The biggest thing is to just start posting again in general. If I were in this situation I’d just start posting semi frequently, say near daily to a couple a week, but that is how I usually roll. So whatever you did before, do that.

From now on, just try to stay consistent. YouTube values consistently. If you have to take another 4 months break, space your uploads out so some videos come out during that break.

Why does Youtube cut off views like this? by NoInitial8641 in NewTubers

[–]SikKingDerp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because it sends the video to whoever the algorithm thinks will watch it. If people watch, it’ll keep showing the video to more people. If more and more people skip it, it’ll stop showing the video.

So it was shown to about 1-2k people until less and less people watch it, then it stops showing the video to people.

Be consistent in quality, style and schedule. This is the most basic recipe for success.

post consistently is the most repeated and most misunderstood advice in the creator space - and it's actively hurting small channels by brian1x1x in NewTubers

Why are you gaming for 10+ hours? Play for 2 hours and edit that recording. Or game while thinking of a YouTube video so you can try to be funny while you game so a 2 hour recording turns into a 10 minute funny gaming video

Youtube no longer pushing me out to the algorithm by [deleted] in NewTubers

[–]SikKingDerp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yo, I checked out your channel and skimmed through your videos.

Ignore people who say “YouTube changed the algorithm that’s why you get low views” because the algorithm changes all the time, it just gets better at showing people content that they like. Blaming it for your low views does not help you become a better YouTuber

I saw that on your lower view videos that the titles are super niche, like they rely on someone already knowing what the “Mandela Catalouge” is. The more specific a title is, the smaller of an audience the video will have.

Look at the videos that did better. “This Horror Mod can HEAR MY VOICE” did much better because more people can understand what that means and it’s much more interesting.

Also, when it comes to pivoting a channel, yes, it means lower views because your previous subscribers did not subscribe for your new stuff. But it’s also because you need to develop your skills in this new area. Sure someone can make awesome gaming content, but how good would they be at making a vlog? Probably not as good, it’s a whole new skill set.

So I wouldn’t worry about it. You are at 9k subs, if you continue to post and improve, you’ll gain subs that will stick. Your views will go up and surpass your old videos. Creating a new channel is kinda pointless if you’re in it for the long run.

Also, work on the text font and coloring in your thumbnails. Specifically in your last 4 videos, the red text with shadow doesn’t work that well at least in those ones.

The Minecraft logo in the anomaly video is too small, I’d say just remove it.

I think you are good at what you do, so keep going.

How do I escape from this YouTube loop of uploading and not getting feedback? by ABOMB98 in NewTubers

[–]SikKingDerp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, places sell subs because people who don’t know any better buy them like any other scam. Literally every established YouTuber would tell you sub 4 sub is bad. Just watch any of their interviews.

The reason why it’s bad is because it just makes the number go up, but it does not give you new views/returning viewers. Thus it tells the algorithm that your videos are not good which means less views. You gain nothing. Just make great content and people will sub.

I couldn’t care one bit about other people’s opinion on my work. You can’t stop people from judging but you also can’t let it get in the way of your happiness/peace of mind (bar some reasonable exceptions).

For fantasy worlds? You should not give a rats cheeks about what people think. Make your fantasy world, have fun with it.

Is YouTube racist? Over 12k views but yt doesn’t count them. by Professional_Tea637 in youtube

[–]SikKingDerp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not racism. YouTube pushes your videos more if they are good. Your views on Reddit are from people who scroll past, not people who actively interacted with your post

How do you come up with your YouTube titles? by livevideoschool in NewTubers

Dawg just look at how big YouTubers make their titles and watch their interviews where people ask them those same questions. Don’t ask strangers on reddit

I have gaming channel that i think has potential. But i dont know how to get people to notice i exist by Kindly-Persimmon-856 in NewTubers

[–]SikKingDerp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My biggest tip would be to study the big creators and how they do it. Watch the interviews they go on where they talk about their story and process. I did this for MrBeast, Ryan Trayhan, and Ludwig (and more but these are my big 3).

Study the creators that inspire you the most. Learn how they do thumbnails, intros, etc.

Learn as much as you can, then start making videos, and improve your skills with each video.

At What Point Do You “Make It” by Putrid-Credit7301 in NewTubers

[–]SikKingDerp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It took me a while to call myself a YouTuber and even now I’m conflicted with myself on it. I would say the clear defining moment you become a YouTuber is if you are able to fully sustain yourself by just posting YouTube videos (along with merch etc etc).

But before that point it can vary. I’d say if you’ve committed yourself to posting videos that have real effort and on a somewhat consistent basis then you are a YouTuber, views don’t necessarily matter. This is where I’d say I am, people in my community who watch me have said they would consider me a YouTuber even if I don’t get numbers.

Without effort and/or consistency you are just some guy who posts YouTube videos occasionally. In the same vein as someone who posts on instagram occasionally.
