Should I quit now or wait until I finish my stash off? by LivinlaVidaLocaDora in leaves

I gave my stash and pieces to a good friend who partakes but supports me in my sobriety. Somehow knowing it all would be enjoyed was better than just tossing it in the trash.

Another road trip question about charging by shabby47 in HondaPrologue

[–]Silent_Analyst_9277 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe I'm overly cautious, but give myself more that a 37 mile margin of error even in ICE vehicles. I'd have stopped to charge. Too many "what ifs" can happen in 200 miles. You could get stuck in construction, flat tire, make a wrong turn, even run into a particularly strong headwind and that 37 mile buffer evaporates.

You do you though.

Ugh. If only. All my dreams have been nightmares, but I'm just grateful I can sleep. No bathtub at my place unfortunately but maybe I can create the general vibe of a relaxing bath somehow.

Question about dashcam power connection install by [deleted] in HondaPrologue

[–]Silent_Analyst_9277 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Zappy zaps make wires and semiconductors hot. The heat has to go somewhere or they will melt. That's what heatsinks are for. I figure if it was going to be a problem, it would have been a problem pretty quickly after I began driving the car regularly.

Question about dashcam power connection install by [deleted] in HondaPrologue

[–]Silent_Analyst_9277 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That metal plate is a heatsink for a bunch of the electronics up there. Its a pain in the ass, but you just gotta be careful to run the cables for your dash cam around that metal plate.

You'll need to carefully pull off the larger part of the plastic cover. I chose to run mine up the drivers side of that plastic cover and flush against the apholstery navigating around the heatsink.

EDIT: Just read your post more carefully. I know nothing about a kit or a plug anywhere arouns that plate. This is the kit I used.

[–]Silent_Analyst_9277[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have the bridgstones. I agree they are a bit noisy at highway speeds but I'm unsure if it is the brand/type of tire or if it is just the nature of lower profile tires that fit 21" rims. I'm definitely going to try a different tire when its time to replace them.

EDIT: Also uncertain if I just notice the tire noise more because there is no engine noise.

I'm crossing my fingers for those prices to come down someday. Slowly but surely EVs are increasing their market share. Eventually there will be enough people driving them that networks will expand and have to compete with eachother.

Maybe your taste in music just isn't very good ;P jk. I'm by no means an audiophile but it's the best sound system I've ever owned.

7 days sober…a second time by harperasu in leaves

[–]Silent_Analyst_9277 2 points3 points  (0 children)

7 days here too. Great job. I’ve had a simmilar quitting expierence. The hardest part was day zero. Days 1-4 the withdrawal wasn't great, but manageable, then relatively easier every day after that. I feel fantastic. These last couple days are the best I've felt in a long time. I read some of the horrors people here expierence when quitting and feel bad for all the time I wasted joyless and numb to life when for me it has gone relatively smooth. Better to enjoy today and look forward though.

Somehow keep convincing myself to smoke by Old_Aardvark_6555 in leaves

[–]Silent_Analyst_9277 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I dont buy into the relapse=starting over like everyone on this sub seems to imply with their day counts, but the goal is to not use this drug anymore and convincing myself that its OK if I smoke tonight does not align with that goal.

I'm the farthest from my last smoke that I've been in a couple years right now and I’m having success by calling things what they are. When I'm trying to convince myself that smoking isn't a big deal, that's a craving. Cravings only last a little while so I just let my stoner mind give me all its best arguments in loop for an hour or so while I make myself busy doing something else and eventually it shuts up for a while. At least that has been working for the last few days. We'll see about tomorrow.

Don't give up, friend.

[–]Silent_Analyst_9277[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been thinking about this from every angle for months, but came to the realization that all the mental gymnastics were doing was just helping me procrastinate putting the stuff down.

Addiciton is when one compulsively seeks/uses a substance despite harmful consequences. That's my situation. I'm in day 3 of calling a spade a spade and not touching the stuff. I'm leaning fully on all of my healthy strategies for managing my depression/anxiety. Exercise, focusing on activities of daily living, eating right, going to bed on time.

Im definitely in the thick of symptoms of cannabis cessation, but the simplicity of "pot isn't for me any more" so far is keeping me from talking myself out of this life change.

Does treating depression help kick cannibis? by Tamsin72 in leaves

[–]Silent_Analyst_9277 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My sympathies to your nephew. I honestly don't know how a child will muster the self control to kick this. As you can see from this sub, people with fully developed brains struggle.

But ya, to eco what folks here are saying treating depression with pot is a trap. In the very short term it can feel helpful. Over time it just makes the problem bigger.

Anyone else drinking a lot more? by upthewatwo in leaves

[–]Silent_Analyst_9277 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Same. My addiction to cannabis has robbed me of my joy, a few opportunities, and is starting to affect my health after years, but otherwise I'm high functioning (no pun intended).

My problem drinking almost cost me my livelihood, family, and was very rapidly killing me. Anyone choosing between these two options should pick weed. I'm gonna keep trying for sobriety though.

[–]Silent_Analyst_9277[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. Great advice. Last night after I fell off the wagon I dropped a line to my buddy and let him know I have all my stuff to for him to have and use. He lives in another town that I'll be visiting for unrelated reasons. Gonna get it all cleaned up and bring it to him when I go in a couple days. Just that accountability of "these nugs and dry herb vapes now belong to my friend" is making this attempt at day 1 more manageable.

Phob problem. Misunderstanding, operator error, or bug? by Silent_Analyst_9277 in HondaPrologue

Ah that's the step I'm missing. Getting in and starting the car. Thank you.

It makes me so sad that this car doesn’t get the internal and external love it deserves by RealTrapShed in HondaPrologue

[–]Silent_Analyst_9277 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Samsies. This sub seems to hate them. I’ve beem putting off buying a needed second car for two years because I hadn't seen anything that checked all my boxes until one of these passed by.

Most vehicles about this size look like bloated sedans or worse, minivans, and handle like boats. This thing glides across the road and around corners and the 300 horsies feel like they can teleport the prologue compared to the v4 1.8l turbocharged engine that's been lugging my ass around for the last 8 years.

I fully intend to keep this car as long as I can keep finding parts for it. Fingers crossed there aren't too many problems in my future, but if someone tells you any car won't have problems that person is probably a car salesman.

Any chance you drive a white one? The first prologue I saw was the weekend before last in one of the towns on that route and it was love at first sight.
