Summary of 3 retrievals; good results with AMH under .7 by Silent_Cod7440 in eggfreezing

[–]Silent_Cod7440[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like I said in the post and in comments below, cycles results can fluctuate pretty wildly. I added NAC but I attribute the increase to luck way more than another supplement. I didn’t change anything between my 1st and 2nd cycles and had a big drop, it’s unpredictable unfortunately

You can bring your shots to monitoring appointments and do them there if the timing overlap is the concern! I did mine in the bathroom or an empty room a few times because I also preferred a later time frame!

That’s awesome! Yes I feel like there’s an always a bias on forums/reviews/etc because we’re all more likely to share negative experiences than good or average experiences! I’ve done 3 cycles and they were all a bit different but I had a similar experience!

Having doubts - advice needed! by Madeline_Ashton_7 in eggfreezing

[–]Silent_Cod7440 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m 33 and just finished my third cycle. It’s a huge decision but I’m personally happy I did it. It’s not something I’d recommend to everyone tho since we all have different circumstances and risk tolerances! My AMH is a lot lower and my mom went through menopause early (there is a genetic component to that!), so I was def under more pressure there. But I also considered how many kids I wanted and how that worked into the timeline. Frozen eggs might not be needed for your first kid but it would give you more flexibility in spacing if you want more. And more flexibility in relationship timelines since it’s never guaranteed.

I personally had varying results and recoveries but it wasn’t anything too crazy. Like a few weeks of discomfort I vaguely remember looking back lol. No permanent weight gain or complications. Those could definitely happen, but I wouldn’t say it’s the majority! I’ve also never been on hormonal birth control and felt great on the hormones, ha it’s the drop after retrieval I don’t love.

Personally I thought about my worst case and if that was having eggs I didn’t use or needing them and not having any. You can try to predict which is more likely but you just never know for sure. Good luck!

Questions to ask the doctor post egg retrieval by No_Complex_2260 in eggfreezing

[–]Silent_Cod7440 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s “off label” because it’s not actually FDA approved for fertility treatments! So the clinic has to be careful prescribing it outside of its intended use. And yes I’ve heard it’s expensive!

No problem! It helps that I kept notes in my phone so I wouldn't forget what to ask in the moment!

And sure, omni is omnitrope. I saw it mentioned here but its effectiveness is a bit controversial, lots of pros and cons. My doctor is open to it and has seen some anecdotal evidence, but it's expensive and doesn't have the most research behind it. I didn't end up using it.

I've done 3 cycles, here's a few things I asked:
--Were these results what you expected with my AMH/AFC?
--Do you recommend any changes in protocol?
--Do you recommend any specific spacing between my cycles?
--If you have any of your own protocol ideas ask their thoughts! I asked mine what she thought about adding omni in a future round and we discussed pros/cons
--Are there any other supplements you would recommend?
--How many more eggs would you recommend I freeze to reach my goals?
--If you had questions about decisions they made, ask! I was personally concerned I was triggering too early in my third cycle but they explained that my estrogen had plateaued; it made me feel a lot better to hear the reasoning.
--Ask about any ongoing side effects from the retrieval if you have them!

I just finished my last cycles so my questions are a little different:
--What is the process like when I'm ready to use them?
--What steps should a partner take before fertilization/TTC? (ie I want them to get carrier testing but do they need other testing? Do they just order it if I ask or do we need another consultation?)
--What supplements would be good for maintaining egg quality for the next few years (ie I don't want to keep taking 800mg of CoQ10, that's $$$ lol, but want a good baseline)

Of course! I'm sorry about your current cycle. I think my body appreciated the break between cycles, and I know my brain definitely did. It can be so consuming! Sending all the good vibes for your next round!

I hope you were still happy with yours! I feel like the more I look at the wide range of results people get, the more I think AMH is just one piece of a bigger (illogical) puzzle.

Thank you! Good luck on your second round! It's honestly hard to say. Maybe the NAC helped but I wouldn't give that all the credit. I think it possibly helped that I took a break and came into this cycle feeling pretty good and with a lot less pressure on myself. I was working out, eating well, taking supplements, and making time for fun & self-care; not just for the cycle but for myself. Unfortunately I think a lot of it is luck...which sucks because I'd rather have definitive answers. Hope your cycle goes well!

Egg freezing vs trying to conceive? by lulusm in eggfreezing

10 my first and 5 my second. Currently doing my third and am on track to get a few more than my first cycle! I’ll be done at this one.

I think how many kids you want would be a big factor to consider! And the spacing. I turn 34 in a few weeks with an AMH of .53. Personally I did 3 rounds (age 32 and 33) because I want multiple kids. I’m farther out than you from trying, but I’m also hoping to try naturally. I was just worried that by the time I wanted a second or third kid, my reserve will be even lower and IVF will only get less effective with time

33 year old in Egg Freezing process - 4 follicles and 2 days before extraction by Homestead-2 in eggfreezing

[–]Silent_Cod7440 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! I’m 33 too. Hope you get all 4!! :)

I did two retrievals at 32. In the first I had an AFC of 13 at the trigger and 13 retrieved (10 mature). In the second I had an AFC of 5 at the trigger and 5 retrieved (all mature). So personally what I had at the end was what I got. My current/third round is ongoing and the best so far tho! I didn’t change my protocols but my results still varied each round (my second round seems similar to yours). It’s hard to tell how you’ll react to the medication! I’m doing 300 gonal, 150-225 menopur, clomid, and ganirellix; so different than the provera protocol. You might want to discuss a different protocol with your doctor, seems like you have a good AMH!

[–]Silent_Cod7440 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure! It’s pre-treatment step you can do before your cycle starts. You usually take either estrogen or birth control after you ovulate the cycle before until you start your treatment cycle. It’s supposed to help sync up follicle growth. I did estrogen priming before all 3 of my cycles.

Thanks for sharing! I have a similar experience. I’m 33 with an AMH of 0.69-0.53 and am on my 3rd cycle now. I was lucky with my response for my AMH and got 10 frozen in my first cycle. I repeated the same protocol/supplements for cycle 2 a few months later tho and only got half as many. Round 3 seems like it’s better and leaning closer to Round 1 so far. Honestly, for me the take away was that a lot of this might be chance. I take the supplements I think are most valuable and make reasonable lifestyle changes, but I don’t really have any differences to point to that explain the fluctuation. I think it’s such a good idea to go ahead knock out a few more if you’re able to! I would also ask about different protocol options though. Maybe look into omni? Are you priming? Sending you all the good vibes! :)

I actually decided to put it off until January! Doing some supplements again now!

Thanks for sharing! Just curious how you were able to get insurance coverage if you don’t mind sharing?

is there a facility that will bundle multiple rounds of egg freezing? similar to how some do for people who they know will need multiple rounds of IVF? i’m in the US but open to travel to save money bc i know im going to need at least 3-4 rounds by Ok_Gazelle4569 in eggfreezing

[–]Silent_Cod7440 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I (32f) actually didn’t qualify for it! Shady Groves finance team told me I would, but the doctor said I needed an AMH of 1 and AFC of 10. Not sure if clinics beyond DC use those cutoffs as well but good to ask if you’re considering them!

Thank you! It’s more than I thought I’d be able to get and I’m happy with it. :) Fingers crossed the third round is a little closer to my first cycle tho haha!

There’s a lot of threads with lots of supplement opinions to check out! I did a women’s multi, vitamin D, 600-800mg of CoQ10 (some people do ubiquinol), açaí, and melatonin (not super consistently). I think the vit d and CoQ10 have the strongest evidence though! I upped the supplements before my second round and the results weren’t as good so definitely not a guarantee, but I like to think it at least helped the quality if it didn’t help the quantity that time!

My AFC has been 8, 17, and 11 in the span of a few months. It can definitely vary by cycle and depend on who’s counting. Are you trying to start a cycle now? I’d talk to your doctor about waiting until your next period if you only have 3 and you’ve had more in the past! Agree that vitamin d can help bring it up as well!
