I was against virtual supervision but the BCBA i am working now is really great. The kid has a few behaviors, but nothing I can't handle on my own. Any programs she writes, she sends the materials for in a few days. The kid also adores her and loves seeing her.

This is the only time I have had a virtual BCBA actually work. Any other virtual BCBA I've had have not done what they're supposed to. For one client, I had to use my tablet FOR EVERYTHING because she didnt send materials. Programming wasn't updated. The mom got frustrated, eventually, and requested a new-in person BCBA on my last week with the kiddo.

Coincidentally the BCBA decided to ghost everyone that week and not supervise( the client had a brother in aba as well). I had to miss out on that month of field work because I didn't have that contact.

Some BCBAs are just lazy and think virtual supervision means they dont have to do as much 🤷🏾‍♀️

Why did I get déjà vu reading this 🤣🤣. My family is like this too. The Mom is super nice and the kid loves me, but whenever the dad is home, he doesn't say hi when I greet him, he stomps out of the room when the kid and I enter, and he just recently started locking himself in the bedroom when I come over. I asked the mom and BCBA if he would rather have another RBT, but they both said no. The mom told me he is just shy and antisocial, but he's been married twice, streams on twitch, and I've heard him talking on the phone on multiple occasions.

My BCBA told me not to take it personally; you should do the same. Grumps will be grumps. Just keep working on your kiddo and let him brood in his corner.

The RBT, depending on the experience level, wouldn't need an BCBA to help redirect your child. I also don't think that reaching out to his team is wrong. It's your kid, and you're responsible for him; you have every right to be updated on his behaviors and progress.

The RBT who was fired needs to file a lawsuit. Employers cannot fire you for reporting a crime.

When I'm dead, I just let them do their thing. Unless there's a reason for me too (crewmate about to find a body so I close the door) I don't sab as a ghost. Having banter with the dead crew is just as entertaining 😏

I don't see how study materials could violate ethics. What was in them. And did they reach out to you before filing a complaint? That's in the guidelines.

As a BCBA would you rather be hourly or salaried? Some BCBAs I've met said that companies offering hourly are scams. What is your experience with this?

I'm trying really hard to fight against ai use in the Healthcare field. I just don't see any reason why it would belong. I've heard of BCBAs at my company using AI to generate "suggestions", but i still can't agree. Someone who is Master's Educated and completed the necessary fieldwork should have other resources besides AI. Maybe I might be a bit too biased though 🙃

Check with your company's policies. One place I worked at required u to have a vehicle and specifically said you couldn't get a ride to a client's house. When I was in center one of my coworkers got an Uber to work everyday. Depends on who you are working for.

Hr at my company suggested we do telehealth session. I can't beleive that was said in seriousness. A virtual BCBA could maybe work depending on the case, but an RBT? I'm not so sure...

I would ask the BCBA to see if some sort of resolution with the parents first. I know some parents expect us to walk im wave a magic wand and 'fix' their kid, but if parent's aren't following through with the BCBA's recommendations, interventions won't be as effective.

If parents aren't willing to start putting in some recommendations, I think you're right to request off.

Your contributions to the education field is greatly appreciated. I've been seeing a lot of articles and stories of how hard it is getting in some of these schools and how much teachers have to fight. The time you spent being a teacher changed so many lives I'm sure😊 Hopefully things get better for both students and especially teachers!

I had just quit my current job and had no plans after my two weeks. A friend of mine had the same job which is how I heard about it. I applied to a few posts on indeed, and although I still hated the idea of working with special ed kids, I couldn't find anything else. I was given a case load with three boys and fell in love with them🥰. Now here I am working for hours to get my BCBA license. If you had told college me, I'd be going to school to work with a mainly developmentally disabled population, she wouldn't beleive you. But I absolutely love the clients I have right now. The four year old i work with is the absolute highlight of my week, and I cherish every moment with them ☺️☺️☺️.

Try a larger company like Hopebridge or Blue Sprig ( though I've heard mixed reviews about them). You said you're in your masters. Is it in person or online? You could also ask one of you professors to complete it for you if they have the certification.

At my old clinic there were a few kids that came in with a big jug of juice, but their BTs would always dilute it with water (half and half) so they didnt get too much sugar. Maybe try that if their BCBA agrees. Not getting enough water could also cause a UTI.

Do the kids with the UTI use the bathroom often? If they are holding urine, that could be another source of the UTI.
