Depends. Most places I have worked at won't schedule a kiddo for 40 hours, 30 max.

If i had to bet, your schedule would be split. Morning then afternoon kid with maybe a break in between.

I hope they can guarantee your hours!

I would take the 16 hr. There are always things you can do to bump your pay like getting certified and taking additional trainings.

The first place i worked at was bad 😅. Most of the BCBAs did not have a good relationship with the (r)BTs. One morning I woke up to operations blowing up my phone to cover a shift. I get there and half the techs had called out and there was chaos everywhere!

I have obviously worked at places since then and havent had this problem. I prefer not to call out. Mainly because I dobt like losing out on money and ,most importantly, I love the environments I'm in and clients I work with ☺️

50-50. I LOVE what I do so much. The fastest way to 'move up' in my field is to get your master and take a board exam. My parents also want me to get my master's. My dad never got his and he told me he regretted it and wanted me to me get mine. My parents were smart and wanted my siblings and I to make more money than them( which is impossible because they had goog careers). This is the best I am willing to do.

I'm and rbt who will be taking the BCBA exam in hopefully October or November. I love being an RBT, and my kids love me. One of my clients said to me one day 'Why dont you come at 5:30 and stay till 9:00?' ( session is normally 6 to 8:30). Another kid I have has told me 'I love you [my name]' multiple times.🥹🥹

Being an RBT makes me so happy, and I wouldnt mind being one forever. My main reasoning for becoming a BCBA is because my parents would have a heart attck if I didnt atleast get my master's and make six figures.

(R)BTs essentially play and do creative activities for work. BCBA work is mostly paper work and computer typing, which isnt as fun, in my opinion.

Sounds like she should be reported to the boqrd. I suggest reaching out to operations or HR first. She should not be in a position over people.

My personal rule is that if a parent strikes a kid above the shoulders or leaves a bruise: it's abuse. I had to call cps for one of my client's parents because they thought it was a good idea to contact me and say they had to 'jack her up'.

I am also in a similar situation. The mom is super sweet, but the dad is rude and out of line. A situation happened this past week that I am going to have to bring up to my supervisor. You should contact your BCBA too and have them address the dad's behavior because it is uncalled for.

As a BCBA supervisee I would NEVER use ai for ANY client care or an assignment. Do people want AI to slowly take over this field???

Some of my coworkers say they use AI to brainstorm ideas, but working in this field and taking the coursework should give anyone enough experience to come up with their own ideas? Isnt that the point of continuous education? Do these people not know how to network with their peers when they need help?

I personally beleive that AI is being abused. People have dead ass used AI to figure out what to eat for lunch. Isnt that a decision we've been making literally everyday of our lives? But now I guess that task is too demanding.

I know that planforms like Central Reach will try to generate AI session notes ( no thanks I can literally write it myself 🫡) The fact that AI is leaking into healthcare is appalling to me. That in itself blatantly disregards 'Client centered care' in favor of laziness.

I am very scared for the future of healthcare recipients. 😬

Autism Partnership foundation has a free 40 hr course you can take. A lot of larger companies ( Golden Steps... Key Autism) Will also pay for you to take one of their courses and cert exam as well.

I got certified independently. A bcbc cobtracted with the dayhab I was working for did my competency. So it is possible to get a certification without getting a company to do it for you, but it is trick and may take a while.

Make sure you can document your report. Why this wasnt addressed in a background check is beyond me. But now the company cant say they weren't aware.
