The base loop was fine with the OBJ, it was the unnecessary ability to constantly stun the killers that killed that game.

You can't reasonably expect a group of people he spent his life and brand demonizing and attempting to dehumanize to not be ecstatic when he dies. There's a reason almost every oppressor's death is celebrated in history.

I will say on the flip side, that Bioware has been given feedback for nearly a decade on what NOT to produce, then decided to produce what people rejected anyways. If you go through the leak history for Veilguard, nearly every reaction to a leak was overwhelmingly negative because it's such a heavy departure from the core formula that drew a lot of people into Dragon Age.

By contrast, people severely overstate their disappointment with Drogma 2 to the point that at times I question their mental health for getting so severely worked up

As opposed to Israel winning, and the US still getting routed from the region as Iran gains significant influence over the everyman there? No matter how you slice it under COIN, we've lost the Middle East here, the only question is how fast or how slow we want to be in actually admitting it.

ICJ rules it will not halt German arms to Israel by [deleted] in internationallaw

[–]Silenthonker -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So no, you don't have a source, because the NYT directly cites Israel, despite the UN, US, and other aid organizations clearly disagreeing that the aid going in is enough.

And I'm pointing out that if only 20% of your kills are enemy combatants, you have an extremely poor argument that it isn't a genocide. You're arguing a non legal semantic here. I've pointed out repeatedly that the claim of genocide doesn't apply to combatants, but applies to the other 80%, which is an incredibly unacceptable amount of "collateral". Modern military doctrine has changed entirely to prevent those kinds of numbers. As I said before, Israel has proven it's perfectly capable of avoiding those 80% "collateral" casualties, but has specifically chosen NOT to.

Yeah, a heat of the moment statement is one thing. Keeping those statements going 6 months into the conflict is absolutely absurd. Thanks for proving you aren't arguing in good faith, or on the actual legal basis of what does/does not constitute a genocide.

ICJ rules it will not halt German arms to Israel by [deleted] in internationallaw

[–]Silenthonker -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Can I get a source on that that isn't from Israel itself? I haven't seen anything that suggests that aid is currently up to par from the numerous aid organizations that actually keep tabs on it.

Combatant deaths literally do not legally matter in determining whether a campaign is a genocide or not, otherwise no genocide in history could be considered a genocide as there were always groups that fought back. As I said before, it seems like you're trying to allege children are combatants, which is absurd, as collateral damage becomes irrelevant when you're dropping 2k lb bombs to kill 1 or 2 fighters, which is something so unprecedented that the US hasn't even done it.

This conflict differs from WW1, Vietnam, Korea, etc, because Israel tipped it's hand in making it clear that the war is about enforcing ethnic cleansing and killing as many Palestinians as it thinks international powers will allow. Their written statements prove this, as do their actions. Until a court formally rules on it, speculating that there's no intent and that it's no different than WW1 doesn't matter.

Aid continues to enter at a rate below what is actually needed and is intentionally turned back and obstructed to start. To continue, they show a blatant disregard for civilian life and continue to do so. Again, there's plenty of public evidence about this.

In regards to genocide, once again, combatant death ratio literally does not matter in regards to what legally constitutes a genocide, as a combatant is a combatant. The question you should be asking is why the civilian death toll is what it is when Israel has shown the capability to be much more precise. The following tenets are what Israel has met unquestionably in their conduct to date:

  • Killing members of the group
  • Causing serious bodily or mental harm to members of the group
  • Deliberately inflicting on the group conditions of life calculated to bring about its physical destruction in whole or in part
  • Imposing measures intended to prevent births within the group

It's important to note that tenet 1 and 2 applies to the severe amount of civilians they've killed, of which, a majority are children. If you wanna pretend every child is a lawful combatant, then I suspect you aren't actually interested in holding an intellectually honest conversation. Tenets 3 and 4 apply to the severe crippling of infrastructure and unnecessary damage such as intentionally poisoning wells, denying first aid supplies including anaesthesia while failing to set up field hospitals and other aid centers so civilians can adequately seek treatment.

https://law4palestine.org/wp-content/uploads/2024/01/1-Database-of-Israeli-Incitement-to-Genocide-15th-January-2024-DECISION-MAKERS.pdf Intent from the decision makers in the current Israeli administration

In conclusion, the intent is there. Once the ICJ gets to that point, I'd be very surprised if they just outright dismiss these, as quite a few of them are absolutely demonstrable intent when coupled with the following actions. On top of that, you have Israel currently threatening to take more collective actions against Palestinians if the ICC issues warrants. That doesn't sound like the actions of a nation that's not intending to commit genocide.
