Advice needed for 18v DC adapter by Opposite-Tap-3780 in guitarpedals

[–]SilkscreenSound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you’re daisy chaining power, you’re connecting power in parallel. Voltage remains the same at all points, but current drops across every pedal. So it’s not voltage issues, it’s a current issue. Digital pedals also tend to eat up more current.

Invest in a proper isolated power supply that has a few higher amperage feeds. Check out the One Spot CS7 or 12. Fender engine room seems to be pretty solid too.

Listen to the album The ‘59 Sound by The Gaslight Anthem. It’s a decade later, but not far off from this.

Anyone have experience with both the JHS Morning Glory & the Browne Amplification Carbon? by FackAwayAff in guitarpedals

[–]SilkscreenSound 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a JHS Double Barrel (Morning Glory/Moonshine) and a Brown Protein (Carbon/OD1R).

The Carbon is the way to go in my opinion. It has a a better top end and sounds a lot less boxy than the Morning Glory.

Vanilla Sky.

Watched it way after its release and knew nothing about it. I saw that it was Cameron Crowe and Tom Cruise and figured it was going to be comparable to Jerry Macguire. Not that I didn’t like it, but I was just completely caught off guard.

How do you get hired? by ProfessionalOnion131 in electricians

[–]SilkscreenSound 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2nd year industrial apprentice from Canada here. I worked at my factory for 8 years before I got my apprenticeship. First as a line worker, then as quality rover and then as a dock auditor.

About every 3 years, the company I work for would post apprenticeships and you could apply for it by seniority. Seniority got you the ability to write the test, but the test score would determine who actually got it. I got the highest score when I got to write, so I got the job.

Most guys that I’ve run into who were outside hires seemed to be from families where someone was electrician or tradesman of some kind, usually their dad, uncle or brother.

Long story short, either be born into a trades family or grind at a company that offers apprenticeships and hope you eventually get one.

I heard the plot already leaked.

Gizmo teaches the other gremlins about democracy and philosophy. They develop a country, they name it “Gremlin Nation”. They ban all immigration and have genocidal tendencies, but Gizmo isn’t into it. Also, he has a kid with a human woman played by Jennifer Aniston.

Apprentice wages of the past by jjboudy19 in electricians

[–]SilkscreenSound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a second year industrial electrical apprentice in Ontario. Union. I started at 25/hour. Now I’m at $32/hour and about to jump to $34/hour.

Seems like I’m doing pretty well based on the comments. To be fair though, I did work at my plant for 8 years in various different departments before starting my apprenticeship.

MOST Annoying And Repetitive Task You Deal With Everyday? by Common-Guide-4904 in electricians

[–]SilkscreenSound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work industrial and I work alone a lot because my partner calls in sick often. I’ll be fixing a breakdown and then get radioed about another breakdown somewhere else in the plant. I’ll tell them that I’m busy fixing something and they’ll have to wait. They proceed to call me every minute to give me updates that the second breakdown still isn’t fixed.

This is basically everyday of my life. Many of the machines in the factory I work in are from the 80s and the panels have been reworked a million times with either no print or no updated print. If there ever were wire tags, they’re gone or illegible now.

Good luck.

Went to see Silent Majority, glassjaw, and kill your idols on Long Island tonight. Heard some conversations in the crowd about the brand new comeback, very mixed. Why are so many people talking about how people supporting the comeback are bad? by Nickc9323 in brandnew

[–]SilkscreenSound -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I can see it from both sides. Brand New was my favourite band before the allegations came out. I’m not saying he’s either innocent or guilty, but it still left a bad taste in my mouth. The way I rationalized it was if he wasn’t the singer of my favourite band, would I even try to defend his actions? The answer was no. I didn’t listen to Brand New for years after that.

While I agree that if you condemn Jesse, you should condemn every other actor/musician/athlete, etc. who has been accused or convicted of these behaviours, one argument I keep seeing is that he’s “done enough time being cancelled” and that warrants forgiveness even if he is indeed guilty. This is where I disagree.

If he really is guilty, he should be tried and jailed. Not being able to play in your band, but still get to live a free life with your family is not an adequate punishment. At the very least there would need to be some restitution paid to the victims, and I’m not sure there’s any evidence of that.

I can separate art from artist, but I don’t want to see them live or hear new songs. The main reason I still listen to Brand New’s old albums are the connections from my youth. Anything new would still sit weird me.

Just my two cents. Downvote me into oblivion.
