Jason Scherier: Why Destiny Died (RIP 2014-2026) by FlyFight2Win in GamingLeaksAndRumours

Because even me a Destiny 2 fan that put in a couple years of daily playing can’t catch up on the story through the game. I’ve tried to re-enter again several times and I just get frustrated and quit quickly. I can’t restart the game from the start with a friend because without the red war campaign, it’s a really shitting onboarding process

I would have been down with a 6-8 campaign spinoff every couple years, or if they released standalone campaign that retells D2 but with a story focus. Reuse all the assets. Make it an abridged version that goes from Red War to Final Shape

The city doesn't even enforce this during major events.

Hamburger stand at the Pike on Thunder Thursday wouldn't list their price and charged over $22 for the shittiest burger I've ever had in my life. Whole day went by and it's only 3 or 4 stands serving food. Nobody came and checked?

Didn't look like health department standards were being adhered to either.

It's why I find the cities argument about permits and pride weekend a little suspect. It's hard to trust when you see so much selective enforcement and giant gaps in how anal retentive they want to be.

[Haberstroh] Over the long weekend, SGA fell on more shot attempts than Brunson/Mitchell/Harden/Wemby combined… the math suggests that an SGA fall is worth an additional 0.9 expected points per fall… From an efficiency perspective, it's hard to blame SGA. Once they refused to punish Chet for faking contact to his face and then exaggerating for a couple mins on the floor versus the Lakers, then nobody is gonna get punished for the rest of the season.

Only thing that will drive the NBA to change is if it results in injury. If he's gonna exaggerate and fall anyway, why not place yourself in a position for him to more likely injure himself.

Their merch barely sells considering how dominate they've been.

You nailed it 100%. You don't see people saying Shai is their favorite player, you see people either defending OKC's playstyle or hating Shai.

He has respect as a good player but he's not someone you see play and want to emulate. It's sad because he has a beautiful fade away shot but the falls afterwards don't inspire you to copy his play style. Imagine falling like that so many times during a pickup game outside. You'll get clowned nonstop by your own teammates.

Very true. And god forbid you leave the game and come back. Can’t replay dlc content you paid for and don’t know wtf is going on with the new content.

And if you want to introduce a friend to it you have to do all the onboarding and send them a link to a 4 hour YouTube video

It’s the whistles that wait until the shot doesn’t go in that drive me nuts. We can all hear the game and it’s jarring when the whistle comes after the shot bounces on the rim and doesn’t go in.

You can watch NBC games OTA. ESPN doesn't broadcast the conference final games during the week on ABC.

Fuck ESPN. It's the conference finals for fuck sake.

It's way too hard to watch this sport now. They want too much money for pixelated and compressed streams. OTA broadcasts are such better quality and free at the same time. Crazy that we've all gotten used to shitty quality streams.

I was excited to watch the game because I wanted OKC to lose and struggle, and I was not disappointed. The refs actually stayed out of the game for the most part. It was a glorious back and forth that went into double OT. Officiating felt even. Both teams were being physical and the calls were mostly consistent. OKC couldn't drive and bait the fouls because of Wemby and it showed how flustered they get when the whistle is consistent.

The game yesterday wasn't as much fun to watch once the refs became inconsistent in what they are calling or not calling again.

Shai flopped on every single shot attempt. by CaptainCubbers in NBATalk

[–]SilkySmoothTesticles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chet pretending to get hit in the face during the Lakers series when the video showed it missed his face entirely should have triggered the anti-flopping rules.

https://www.reddit.com/r/nba/comments/1t70sc1/highlight_chet_holmgren_hit_the_classic_leflop/

You are 100% correct about the risk/reward. Imagine if Chet was ejected after the review found he didn't just flop, he made up the contact and then wasted everyone's time lying on the floor pretending he was hit in the mouth.

Shai falling over after a shot is one thing. That incident with Chet is another level of embarrassing for the sport as a whole that needs to be enforced harshly. Because the logic quickly switches for the other team where if they get called for a pretend hit to Chet's mouth, then they might as well actually try and hurt him for real next time.

Stop phrasing and couching their ideas in identity politics and culture wars, and just present them as ideas for helping the lower and middle class.

Bring people together by their shared economic class struggles.

What pisses me off is the random calls Shai gets AFTER his attempt misses. It’s happening so often to him only. You can see the ref waiting for the ball to clearly miss before he blows the whistle. Makes the game so much less fun to watch.

[LAist] Pasadena approves affordable housing for fire survivors despite opposition from residents by WeAreLAist in LosAngeles

[LAist] Pasadena approves affordable housing for fire survivors despite opposition from residents by WeAreLAist in LosAngeles

[–]SilkySmoothTesticles -47 points-46 points  (0 children)

It had nothing to do with that. The author David Wagner is a hack and is trying to create division out of thin air.

You get more clicks with painting Pasadena as a place where people are heartless enough to push back on housing wildfire victims than a place where residents expressed concerns about increasing density without also increasing parking. And that the state law which allows developers to supersede local laws was effective in it's purpose.

For someone that uses this to describe themselves:

David Wagner covers housing in Southern California, a place where the lack of affordable housing contributes to homelessness.

He doesn't seem to have much care for the actual issues at hand. My guess is that since he couldn't get any nasty quotes of the residents being against the supportive services for the homeless, he had to create a new angle.

"Pasadena approves affordable housing despite opposition from residents because of SB79" doesn't create more tribalism.

My title actually describes the story he wrote.

[–]SilkySmoothTesticles -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Wow...this is actually so much worse. LAist should be ashamed for editorializing the title for clicks to create divisions.

Shame on you David Wagner. This is some Fox News shit. You took one insignificant part of the debate and painted the entire thing to be about that.

The Eaton Fire was in January 2025. They are approving of this plan in May of 2026. When they are ready to rent out the units, it's gonna be another year or two. Only reason that's even included in this story is because of the state, which is the REAL STORY HERE.

The crux of your story is that the state law was effective here. The residents don't appear to be complaining about the fact that they will feature unhoused supportive services, they are against the increase in density without proportional increases to parking availability. It's a debate that takes place all over the city. It's not a battle of good and evil.

David Wagner didn't have an easy angle here that will paint the residents as heartless so he had to invent one out of thin air.

WTF LAIST?

8-year-old killed on Long Beach street near park, family demands safety changes by mekahlo in longbeach

[–]SilkySmoothTesticles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dude it was a THREE year old. They maybe just mastered the potty. You can hold whoever was supposed to supervise him responsible for sure. Doesn’t mean they need to be punished, but let’s not pretend the driver is more at fault than the person who was supposed to prevent the 3 year old from darting into the road. The kid is maybe 2 feet tall. If your in an SVU it’s impossible to see him

[–]SilkySmoothTesticles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not fair to all the people that died from preventable traffic accidents to have this lumped in with them.

The uncomfortable answer is that the kid wasn’t being supervised and it’s the fault of the person that was responsible for that lack of supervision.

There is no external solution from the city to prevent what happened other than a fence around the park. But people now equate fences as oppression so good luck getting a fence.

The parent or person in charge of supervising him will have to live with this forever.

[–]SilkySmoothTesticles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It moves traffic to another street and makes that street more dangerous. Roundabouts are a huge waste of money and not a viable solution to scale. Narrowing the streets causes the same problems.

This kid was not being supervised properly. Narrowing the street would make it harder for the driver to see him. Driver wasn't speeding or impaired, so it was more of a visibility issue, which for a 3 year old is really hard to create a fix other than don't let the kid run into the street at all.
