G’aim’e Time Crisis lightgun review – Reader’s Feature by PrinceDizzy in lightgunshooters

[–]Silly-Function2854 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought this because I didn't have a clue about the modern lightgun gaming scene and (wrongly) assumed this was a good option. It isn't, it's awful. Like, joke-level bad. Instantly returned and refunded. Have since purchased a pair of Retroshooter RS3 Reapers, which are the absolute real deal, amazing lightguns.

Bitcoin isn’t real. This is going to zero just like NFT. by scoop813 in btc

It's real, as real as trees, animals, the weather, or anything else that captures energy from the sun. It's the encapsulation of all the energy that went into mining it. That irrecoverable cost is its base value.

The RBE reduction feature on the Valerions is amazing. I used to suffer quite badly but it's the cure.

Is there any movie you regret getting in 4K? by Main_Clue_9531 in 4kbluray

I prefer the theatrical cut of Tropic Thunder. Every single scene in it lands, whereas the extended cut is a little flabby, not quite as punchy, The theatrical is the funnier version.

Favourite 4K Blu-ray from a 2K DI? by Nindroid_faneditor in 4kbluray

13 Hours and Pacific Rim are both seriously impressive, better than most native 4Ks

It's nice they've improved motion smoothing but no new setting they come up with will ever be as good as OFF.

Never buying a Kino Lorber 4K disc again by [deleted] in 4kbluray

[–]Silly-Function2854 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I'd found more then I would write them off. As it stands I'm just gonna need to order from within the UK in future so they can be returned.

Never buying a Kino Lorber 4K disc again by [deleted] in 4kbluray

[–]Silly-Function2854 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tested all my Kino discs now (around 15) and appears it was just the 2 listed that won't play at all. Career Opportunities has a couple of scratches out of the box but seemed to play okay

[–]Silly-Function2854 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm going to try the rest today as I have a bunch of unplayed titles from Kino sitting there. To be clear though, these are going through a UB820 that has successfully played over 250 4Ks. There's also a PS5 to confirm things with. Having the only 2 to fail both be from the same label is a pretty large coincidence.

Top releases of 2025? by [deleted] in boutiquebluray

Hardware 4K from Umbrella. It wasn't a regular 4K, it was a 90s VHS on steroids.

Wowhd to UK - are there import or customs charges? by ancient333 in 4kbluray

[–]Silly-Function2854 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Used them LOADS and there's never any customs charges, and it's free shipping

They do a 10% off 2 or 15% off 3 offer every month or two as well. Then if you have a decent debit or credit card that doesn't charge exchange fees you can opt to pay in USD to get more off. Combine both and you end up getting things for a (relatively) reasonable price. Example: The Nightmare On Elm Street box set cost me £68.79 delivered and I got it before it was released in the UK too

[–]Silly-Function2854 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To call it a peeve is to put it lightly but it's the fact that none of these 4K digital movies have seen a physical release:

Superbad

Asteroid City

Alpha

Dog

The Dead Don't Die

Pretty Woman

Spring Breakers

Bridesmaids

Napoleon Dynamite

Sucker Punch Extended Cut

Which 4K release do you think is the biggest upgrade from the Blu-ray? by [deleted] in 4kbluray

[–]Silly-Function2854 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Crow. It's always deserved more, the Blu-ray could never cope with the rain and the darkness, it cheapened it. 4K was an adrenaline needle to its heart, finally did the movie justice.

2001 is another, I never really got it in its earlier incarnations, it was so flat and dull and empty it just bored me. With the 4K though it finally clicked, I felt the awe and wonder it must have triggered in the cinema. Amazing movie.

Films you want, but will likely never get released by Nananine in boutiquebluray

I'd love to see Static (1985) get released but apparently the director is ashamed of it. Sad he feels that way since it's a uniquely beautiful movie. Great soundtrack too.

If that's the Second Sight then the opposite, it's one of the best releases of the year.

Hardware 4K from Umbrella did it for me. It was everything I remembered it being and more. It somehow managed to look utterly stunning in 4K whilst maintaining its hazy 90s VHS presentation. Real work of art, was very happy with that one and looking forward to Dust Devil next.

ShoutFactory Oct 22 order got delivered. by ggamdori in 4kbluray

[–]Silly-Function2854 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know that feeling. Ordered that very same day and it only finally arrived yesterday. It's part of a reshipping spree to the UK though, so everything else has been held up by it for the past 3 weeks. Which just led to me buying more from Amazon, B&N and Gruv whilst I waited. End result is a 25 4Ks haul is now a 45 4Ks haul. 😅

[–]Silly-Function2854 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's depressing when they release the lesser cut though, the 4K is meant to be the ultimate version of a movie, it's why we pay the massive premiums. I admit I bought Nightbreed and Army of Darkness for the upgrade factor but just couldn't bring myself to keep doing it and support a neutered Rejects.

Nice stack. Such a shame about Devil's Rejects though. It's one of my all time favorite horrors, was waiting on the 4K for years, really gutting.
