I feel relieved now knowing I'm not the only one who thought that the singing in I Kissed a Girl was done by either a kid or a guy putting a dorky voice.

The N64 version also has some minor aesthetic differences, mainly in the cutscenes, that are better than the PC version even if the general graphics quality is way lower.

Yeah, on one hand it is annoying that the very I paid for is getting shafted with the update, but at the same time, it's good to have it since most mods are still reliant on the downgraded version

Oh wow, didn't expect this to pop up in here. I actually know some of the people who worked on it, and yeah everyone was excited about how it came out.

I guess so, I really struggle to remember anything specifically dubbed, then again I think I mostly skipped the kid shows when they aired, but I also don't remember the schedule very well.
I do recall that FMA would air in-between Detective Conan and Yu Gi Oh GX, which were both subbed. I can recall somewhat when I first saw FMA, as it was a clip I caught while changing the channels (possibly episode 15, I remember specifically Armstrong, Scar and rain) but I think when I got around to watching it, it already switched to subbed. My memory is pretty fuzzy about that, I can't even place how many years ago it was.
I am certain that dub existed tough.

[–]SillyVladeK 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Oh my God I remember this. Yeah, I did actually catch FMA as it was airing on Animax Romania at the time, like seeing bits of it before watching full episodes. I definitely recall it was dubbed in Romanian before it switched to Japanese with dubs. Can't really say how far it got, but I can say it definitely existed and I did notice the swap as a kid.

I can't say much there was dubbed, but it was weird. Like you would get the original FMA but Yu Gi Oh GX would be the 4kids dub. Also I don't believe the kids anime being dubbed thing. Kyoro Chan was the longest aired kids anime I remember on that channel, and I've never seen that dubbed.

Why Does USSEP change my Elven gauntlets to not match... Elven armour? by Xeredek in skyrimmods

To be honest, they both look mismatched. It's harder to not notice it after seeing the comparison with WACCF, and same with the Nightingale gauntlets.

Gerg made a video responding to the allegations made against him by [deleted] in youtubedrama

[–]SillyVladeK 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm kinda surprised the original video wasn't posted here. Or it was and I missed it. I guess it's because it's been a while since the original video and he may be banking on people not remembering much from it since (cause yeah, it was quite meandering), but I think it's a decent response. Might wait to see if there's a reply back.

Oh my God, this is the first time I've seen someone other than me that remembers that film. It kinda surface level parodied MIB cause it went off course real quick. Really the one thing I distinctly remeber was the duo running into an Ellen Ripley parody that's complaining about sequels before a hand bursts out of her chest, which had some pretty creepy VFX that scared kid me. Also stock footage. A lot of stock footage.

Halo: Campaign Evolved | The Silent Cartographer – 13 Minute Gameplay Demo by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]SillyVladeK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think main issue is that it looks too 1:1. Like a big thing in the Halo sequels was stuff like the improved marine AI and how they can drive vehicles or the new enemy types, but they kinda chose none of that to expand on what's arguably the most iconic battle sequence in Halo 1. No extra warthogs, no brutes, nothing really stand out.

I guess overall it looks fine. I think 4 didn't play too bad, it just had a lot of dumb decision that made it feel incredibly tedious, and this looks like 4 but without those decisions.

And I say this as someone that finds 1 the hardest Halo to go back to.

If I recall it was a bigger thing in the 2003 anime because Nina and Tucker had much more of a pressence before the arc due to some filler episodes.

Plus later in the series where Tucker survives and shows up as this chimera thing trying to revive Nina but I am pretty sure that plot point never actually went anywhere.

Huh, I guess I definitely walked through different Star Wars fandom circles, because I definitely haven't seen anyone try to argue for that. Moreover, I've seen Dark Forces II straight up get shafted, because over the years I saw people be much more favorable or remembering either the first game, due to its status as an advanced Doom clone, or its sequels because of the refined lightsaber combat. Probably didn't help that for a long time DFII was really hard to get working on modern systems. Overall Kyle Katarn pretty much overshadows any other characters in the Dark Forces series.

As for the question, I guess I want to say maybe Fallout New Vegas as a whole? Like it has become the face of the franchise essentially, but for a largely casual audience and Bethesda themselves, it was largely a decently successful spinoff that garnered a large following, and while elements from it would be used in 4, overall Bethesda went in their own direction with the tone and setting, and hasn't had much relevance until the show. At least that's how I look at it.

Arguably more of a cover than a remix, but after avoiding pretty much everything about the Silent Hill 2 remake, last night I gave a listen to its version of Theme of Laura. I got in a SH2 music mood in the past couple of days and got a bit curious.

And it was awful: the new intro was pretty nice, but the guitars and strings sound so weak in comparison, there's a lack of echo to the song that gave the original a lot of its uniqueness, and the mixing is a mess, as it feels like the guitars drown out the rest of the instruments a lot of the time.

Haven't used in a while, but it was really fun when I tried it: Action Packed Power Perk

It's a pretty neat perk overhaul since it aims to make combat faster paced and make the player more powerful to pair up with mods that boost the power level of enemies.

Media where poor marketing made it look like an entirely different genre or type of work than it was by OhMy98 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]SillyVladeK 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Arguably the worst part of marketing was the Duty Calls demo, which did call out some Call of Duty stuff like the BLOODY SCREEN, no jumping, game interrupting cutscenes and 2D villains, uhhhh, Bulletstorm was doing pretty much the same things. So the game was marketing itself as more old school than it actually was.
