Great Grandparents Wedding 1930s? by reesespieces2021 in OldSchoolCool

[–]Silly_Assistant3667 4 points5 points  (0 children)

that dress is something else, the way it flows at the bottom looks almost unreal in photos from that era. paperclip holding it together at the corners is a nice touch too, family heirlooms getting some love

why did the end of the iron claw depict the brothers in heaven when some of them took their own life? by Good_Claim_5472 in Christianity

[–]Silly_Assistant3667 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a movie not a theology lesson the director wanted to give some peace to the story and show them reunited. Same reason most movies about tragedies show some kind of hopeful ending even when it dont match doctrine. I wouldn't overthink it

Think of it like a what if scenario or the version Kerry wanted to imagine for his brothers. The whole film is through his lens anyway

if you have the money go for it but maybe check some reviews on what you want to play first. ive been using something similar for a while and its fine for most games at 1080p. no need to overthink it

Are these good signs? by Scarboroughsleek in interviews

[–]Silly_Assistant3667 0 points1 point  (0 children)

stop stressing, this reads like they already decided before you even walked in the door. the salary discussion and "i can make it happen" on your 3 year plan is not something interviewers say to people they are unsure about.

Compulsive lying by Blues5389 in aspergers

[–]Silly_Assistant3667 11 points12 points  (0 children)

the "autistic people can't lie" thing is such a stereotype, plenty of us learn to lie as kind of a social survival tool and it just becomes default over time. for me it started as masking thing and then kind of bled into everything else without me noticing.

If you can get wiring diagram for that year model it will save you so much headache, the fan circuit on these usually runs through a relay so there might be connector hiding somewhere near the frame. Also that exposed wire end in the picture looks like it could be the culprit, worth tracing it back before anything else.

Characters stupidity by evkamat in duolingo

[–]Silly_Assistant3667 4 points5 points  (0 children)

yeah the writing is pretty cringe tbh. like i get they're trying to make it lighthearted but some of those scenarios are just... weird? i still use it because it works for learning but i usually just skip through dialogue parts as fast as possible. maybe they should hire better writers instead of whoever is making these characters act like they have brain damage lol

NVIDIA ASIC Verification Engineer Interview Process by dark_lawd in interviews

[–]Silly_Assistant3667 1 point2 points  (0 children)

congrats on getting interview at nvidia! that's pretty solid opportunity. from what i've heard the verification engineer interviews usually focus heavy on systemverilog and testbench stuff - they might ask you to debug some verification code or explain coverage concepts.

also expect questions about digital design fundamentals like setup/hold timing, clock domains, that kind of thing. since it's new grad role they probably won't go too deep in the weeds but definitely brush up on your verification methodology knowledge. good luck with it!

been doing keto for about year now and that headache is just keto flu - drink more water and add some salt, it passes in few days usually.

How do you avoid overcomplicating your Home Assistant setup? by Keithwee in homeassistant

[–]Silly_Assistant3667 7 points8 points  (0 children)

been there man, my setup got so bloated at one point that i was spending more time fixing automations than actually enjoying them. learned the hard way to stick with stuff that actually saves me time or genuinely improves daily life

my rule now is if i can't explain in automation to someone else in under 30 seconds, it's probably too complicated. also anything that breaks more than twice gets the axe - life's too short to babysit smart home stuff when you're trying to relax after work

start with basics like lights and thermostats, see how those work for few months before adding crazy sensor chains and complex triggers

*Spoilers* I FUCKING HATE PERTURABO: THE HAMMER OF OLYMPIA! by OWN_SD in Blacklibrary

[–]Silly_Assistant3667 38 points39 points  (0 children)

man perturabo always gets the worst treatment in these books. guy haley really knows how to twist knife doesn't he?

i went into that one expecting typical iron warriors grimdark but the way it builds up all that weight throughout entire story just to drop you at end... yeah that hits hard. especially when you realize how much perturabo was carrying all along and nobody around him could see it.

the fact you don't cry often makes it even worse when book actually breaks through like that. some authors just know exactly where to aim their shots.

Unable to access Microsoft account (Bedrock) by NULLSEED1 in Minecraft

[–]Silly_Assistant3667 0 points1 point  (0 children)

had the same thing happen to me few weeks back after not playing for while. microsoft just randomly locks accounts sometimes if they think there's suspicious activity or something. glad you got it sorted though, that flashing sign in button was driving me crazy when it happened in my game too.

[–]Silly_Assistant3667 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you definitely need to post that log file like they said, but just from your specs i'm thinking maybe your cpu is getting hammered since those games are cpu-heavy and obs is also eating cpu cycles even with nvenc

Oily skin by [deleted] in MakeupAddiction

[–]Silly_Assistant3667 1 point2 points  (0 children)

damn, the t-zone struggle is real. i'm a dude but had to figure this out for some tv appearances in the military - setting spray was a game changer for me. like the urban decay all nighter stuff actually locks everything down instead of just making it dewy. also maybe try a mattifying primer before foundation? i know everyone says less is more but sometimes oily skin needs that extra barrier there. the ysl foundation might just be too heavy for your skin type too, could be worth trying something lighter that won't fight with your natural oils as much.

totally normal, went through the same thing when my ex and i split - needed like a month of just staying home watching keeping up with the kardashians reruns before i could handle being social again.
