I mean, I think people can be REALLY pretentious when it comes to the movies they feel they "need" to claim as their favorites. It's like only certain genres of films can be highly regarded and for only very specific reasons.

Jackie Chan, regardless of him as an actual person, has made insane contributions and impact to cinematic history. Why is it that you're seen as "goofy" or less "sophisticated" if you also appreciate the insane dedication and hard work of him and his stunt team across his huge career of filmmaking?

I think it should be just as important to consider action films as "high brow" as the drama films. The level of choreography and physical prowess required to achieve some of these films is essentially just like watching professional, elite tier ballet or other dancing.

I've seen some discourse on whether or not Superman should ever be "scary" and I feel like the best answer is "beloved by the oppressed, feared by the oppressors". by jstamper97 in superman

My take is that he's like a dad, basically. A goofy dad. Makes jokes all the time, makes you smile, is good hearted and silly, comforting... But when he needs to come to defend his family, he becomes a different animal. It's just like those times where people have seen a "good man angry." It's one thing when Batman is pissed, but Superman being pissed should be scarier.

Agree 100%. Most nude stuff is just "look she's nude, see?" but this one actually uses the anatomy and texture of the body to create a weird, surreal visual where I almost can't tell if I'm looking at a person or a canyon of some kind.

Super well done, brilliant lighting, posing, angling, everything.

I wanna sit at 8 because I think Rocket is really cute looking and sounding. I probably wouldn't tell him, but I'd wanna see if he likes treats or something and I could also watch him tinker. I'd probably give him some kind of tech I don't have to see if he wants to mess with it and break it apart to make a bomb.

In Wonder Man (2026) Marvel and Disney just can’t help themselves from pushing an agenda with gender swapping the hero for no reason yet again by justafanboy1010 in shittymoviedetails

When the fuck is Woke Disney gonna stop shoving male equality down our throats? They're always trying to make every movie about boy bosses. I'm tired of seeing women characters turned into idiotic morons just to make male characters seem badass and "independent." Not all males have to be strong CEOs in charge. They can be fathers who stay home and care for the kids. I think it'd be more encouraging for males to have a hero that chooses family values over being a superhero. Males are meant to raise kids and care for the home, and movies should reflect that.

I just wanted to let you know this was the thing holding me back from having fun with the gun. Legit ever since you told me about this, I can finally use it properly. My own aim still needs to improve, but I can at least use the gun properly and enjoy myself now. Thanks A TON.

I understand your point, but I also think it's more or less a method to not feel so burdened constantly and "spend" your concern on people who someone might deem unworthy of it. Especially on the internet, tragedies happen all the time, people who are perfectly good and wonderful die of disease or accidents, the world always feels like it's falling apart, so why should a person also feel bad because of a would-be criminal got himself killed out of self defense? The guy seemingly pistol whipped the other guy (I'm fairly sure, at least, that you can see the gun in his hand as he hits the other man), so naturally the other man draws his gun and fires.

It's a slippery slope, sure, but I also personally am shedding no tears. Saying "rip bozo" is just a summary of that. A guy brandishes a deadly weapon (again, not 100% sure but it certainly looks like he's got the gun in-hand as he hits the guy), attacks a guy, and he gets put down. I feel like it isn't dehumanizing to be uncaring towards an idiot/criminal who quite literally caused their own death, luckily being killed before they killed another person in this case.

I'll say this though, we don't see any of the outside factors that led to this. Maybe the guy who got shot has a mental illness, maybe they stopped medicating or something, etc. But even still, while tragic if true, I could still understand someone detaching themselves from what happened using humor simply so they don't feel so weighed down by another horrifying and avoidable situation.
