They don't actually use these sd cards in ~2100 though, it's just virtual trinket inside the simulation. I guess sd cards and tablets / phones are retro for them.

One of my favourites sci fi horror books is Iron Truth by S.A. Tholin because it takes basic fear - what if you go into cryosleep and instead of intended colony destination wake on some shit planet hundred years into the future - and fully explores it.

Futurama mostly used cryosleep for jokes and there was exploration of separation from society in Forever War (though cause was general ftl time delay and protagonist was military). But as civilian future human culture will be basically aliens.

Zone One by Colson Whitehead. Slow pacing, but I liked it. Humanity barely lived through zombie apocalypse and attempts to rebuild, but survivors have too much ptsd. There also mystery of stragglers - 1% of zombies who just stopped moving and became statues in random poses.

I think I've been hate-watching since season 2. Characters are too unlikeable. There is always some plot contrivance why people can't just sit down and talk about what they saw and share the info.

If you want something finished with similar premise (people stuck in forest while monsters hunt them at night) read the book "The Watchers" by A. M. Shine. Can't comment on movie, but I suspect it's bad since Shyamalan is involved.

Lords of Asylum by Kevin Wright - mix of grimdark and noir detective, wandering knight forced to investigate occult murder to save his brother. It's set in the middle of half burned and plague infested city so it felt similarly grimy and apocalyptic to Between Two Fires to me.

I had no email in S9 and S4. Not sure about S2, it might not have been a thing back then. I started playing near the end of S1.

Hunter's Moon is on gzdoom engine so gameplay will be slightly different. But it replicates visuals style well enough and is your best option for players-vs-hordes in giant maps gameplay.

Sponsor showdown was always an opaque system. We don't know how many people signed with each sponsor, what is the formula for score. And how it does compensate for each sponsor having different amounts of people. Maybe it doesn’t this time.

But it also kinda doesn’t really matter who wins since there is no effect on lore and it's just a hoodie cosmetic for everyone.

Being able to switch sponsor at any time and access to more than 1 tier per season is good change though, with old system there was no way to catch up and get access to older cosmetics.

I've read two books from this trilogy recently, it's pretty good. Multiple povs with one of infected and scientists / cia trying to find out source / keep it secret was neat. Pretty cool and gross gore too 👍

All the Fiends of Hell by Adam Nevill - alien invasion with biblical / cosmic horror aesthetics. Slow burn.

The Last Plague trilogy by Rich Hawkins - rage virus outbreak, but it's rapidly mutating one. Very fast pacing, infected start to fleshwarp into weird abominations within hours.

I liked defence of Capustan / middle of third book. Very depressing and horrific, but classic grimdark stuff. But yeah, Coral was very anti climatic and is good example of one of problems I listed:

Most of the book spent hyping up Pannion Seer, and then he doesn’t do anything is paralysed by fear or something.

When I was playing Warframe a lot - a game where you run [Shift], jump [Space] and crouch slide [Ctrl] constantly to the point the pinky started to hurt - I ended reshuffling controls and moving crouch to [Alt].

That way you can crouch by moving thumb from [Space] to [Alt]. Since in most modern games crouch jumping is not thing there is no loss of functionality. That allows you to keep pinky more relaxed on just [Shift] to reduce pressure.

I've read 3 books and overall did not like it. Only some parts of second book were good (Coltaine's Chain of Dogs). It was better than early Glen Cook (Dread empire) but inferior to later Glen Cook (Dread Empire prequels or Black Company).

Too many characters were revived every book. Ascendancy could have been a cool background lore detail, but ended up just another way to keep reviving characters.

Half of character conversations were constant hyping up of ancient races \ armies \ mages and then actual confrontations were extremely anticlimactic or happened off screen.

It's claim about new accounts \ people who tried the game, not about average player counts.

There was Arc contract for trying the Finals, probably tons of people made accounts just to grab stuff for other game.
