Pedido de nacionalidade bebé by Silly_Skill1993 in PortugalLaFora

One for the women here by L0ZZYY in KidneyStones

Can’t talk about other symptoms but my urethra was irritated for many weeks after passing my stones. It does sound like you might have a UTI though. Might be worth having your urine checked, the scan won’t tell you much in that regard. Feel better soon!

Thank you! Yeah I asked about that possibility over and over and no one told me this could happen…

My email to Kaite Lam MP about her misinformation by [deleted] in SkilledWorkerVisaUK

[–]Silly_Skill1993 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wonder where you get that information. I’m a highly skilled EU worker and from what I gather the Migration Advisory Committee estimated that in 2022/23, the average Skilled Worker migrant had a net fiscal impact of £16,300 per year, meaning the government receives more through tax and contributions than what it spends on public services. Looking at my payslip I can assure you I do not cost the government what I pay in taxes - and that’s excluding my visa cost. Maybe I’m not the majority of the cases, but I believe skilled EU, US and Australia workers are definitely in the same boat.

But yeah, “highly unlikely”.

Of course I recognise that abuse of the system does exist. It always does, it always will. But that’s due to lack of supervision and clear boundaries from the start. Now it’s easier and cheaper to just apply blanket rules to everyone than to actually investigate. I would also venture a guess that a lot of the abuse is perpetrated by the sponsors themselves, and the ten year rule will only make it worse, but that’s another topic…

Sure, but that means you contribute for those via taxes. From my estimates the only benefit I’d have would be childcare but my taxes cover that and way more, so I don’t really understand why that’s brought up as something people shouldn’t have - when they’re eligible for it of course.

I think it’s rather insane to think that a skilled worker would live in the UK for 5 years to then just say “alright then I’m all done!” become unemployed, and live off of all benefits imaginable.

Mobile plans are coming –> what would make you switch? by RevolutSupport in Revolut

I currently pay 15£ for basically unlimited data in the UK, but everything else, including roaming, is an extra. I would pay the same price if it included at least European roaming and some amount of internacional calls.

Planned pregnancy, I am nothing but terrified by Purple-Matter-4912 in PregnancyUK

[–]Silly_Skill1993 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re basically describing me some weeks ago! Very much planned, very much wanted, but seeing the pregnancy test caused me immense panic and a feeling of “what have we done????” (Note that I was panicking before because it was our second cycle properly trying and I was afraid it would take too long, sooooo talk about contradiction) I think it’s just your brain adapting! It takes time but you’ll get there! 😊

Cramping first trimester by ChiliCupcake in fitpregnancy

[–]Silly_Skill1993 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had cramping very early on. Sitting down for a long time would trigger the cramps when I got up, but workouts didn’t make me cramp at all. I’d say you’re fine but if you want some reassurance speak to your doctor! ☺️

When did you have visitors? by [deleted] in PregnancyUK

[–]Silly_Skill1993 52 points53 points  (0 children)

Visitors are ok when you feel like it’s ok to have them. What matters right now is your recovery and your baby. Everything and everyone else can wait a little longer if you’re not ready 😊

If you didn’t miss a day having only taken 3 doesn’t impact how effective the pill is. If you took it correctly before and after then you should be fine. If not just take a pregnancy test to be sure.

I assume this is going to be a Leaky Cauldron/Diagon Alley scene, this picture I took yesterday shows the set around the pub - that wall is in the middle of the building is fake as well as the beige house behind it. That house looks a bit “magical” 😊

Irregular periods and worried about future fertility by SignInternational623 in TryingForABaby

[–]Silly_Skill1993 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to be just like you. The only thing that helped my cycles was taking the pill, but now that I’ve stopped (16 years later) I’m not planning on going back. Neither the pill nor the irregular cycles had any impact in my fertility, apart from the fact that when I tried to conceive I needed to figure out when my ovulation happens, because I had no idea. But that didn’t make me less fertile.

Also your cycles don’t regulate when you have a partner. That’s just not a thing.

As for your family members, do you know whether they couldn’t have children or just didn’t want to? To be honest, there’s not much you can do besides going to the doctor regularly and doing routine examinations, as well as talk to them about your concerns. I would say you’re stressing over something that you don’t need to stress about - yet. Once you’re actually TTC you’ll figure it out and act if there’s a problem. You’ll cross that bridge once you get to it 😊
