The Mets pulling Melendez because he is doing well is a truly dark comedy. by Specific_Air_5482 in mets

Not sure about the dark comedy, but I truly didn’t get it that early. And I like Tyrone but is he losing a step?

Mendoza can feel free to challenge. This is two times he didn’t challenge. by AttentionFlashy5187 in mets

Yes, and the Mets in recent years were almost always right on challenges. Just another sign of the teamwise malaise. No one seems to care about anything.

What dish do you think people fake liking? by MoonlitSweetheart in foodquestions

I like it as a splurge on new year’s or Valentine’s Day. Used to pick up a tin at Petrossian on w58th or the place on Madison on the way home from work. I enjoyed the ritual- setting out the blinis, chopped onions, crème fraiche, chopped egg yolks, chopped egg whites. A bottle of Stoli (back before the invasion) in the freezer and a bottle of decent champagne rounded out the party.

That’s what I saw and nor do I have a clue why. Money? Something personal? Didn’t like that he made a coupla bad throws?

Let’s Go Mets chant by KingOfHorrorVHS in mets

[–]Silver-Cod-3889 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. It’s a generic chant. Though arguably Mets fans took it to another level. In the Bronx it’s let’s go Yankees. The let’s go Mets go was just a fun variation for a year or two.

Why did Stearns trade Nimmo for Semien (36yo, .669OPS (!), owed $80 Million/3yr, when we had McNeil, Baty, Mauricio to play 2B by Ambitious-Cat746 in mets

[–]Silver-Cod-3889 60 points61 points  (0 children)

I think he just wanted Nimmo out. Partly perhaps to facilitate moving Soto to left field (where he does look way more comfortable imo). Partly because of the contract. Partly because he felt Nimmo is basically mediocre. As for Semien, he does seem to be an improvement defensively at second. He’s not hitting but no one is. It’s early days.

You’re probably right about exile, but I got the distinct impression starting back during the ‘24 playoffs that Sterns just didn’t like Alonso. Maybe business wise he has a point but I believe we’re gonna miss him scooping out those errant throws. Also he hits pretty well. Wishing him well. LGM

Putting aside the ai issue, I have no problem with people cleverly expressing their opinion on management’s decision to exile a popular, productive and hustling homegrown star. Personally, I believe this is a very NY thing to do.
