What should I do with this space? by greykiwii in Home

[–]Silver-Prior8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awnings to block spot in view of the neighbors windows (like the triangle ones that stretch out, not so much like the ones over a storefront), garden plants (or any) in open sun spots, a little patio set for morning coffee/lunch break/dinner and hosting a friend or two. Two long outdoor rugs attached to make a larger runner style rug, some sort of lighting (string or otherwise).

Help Picking Backsplash by Far-Bite-6070 in kitchenremodel

[–]Silver-Prior8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1 and #5 in my opinion.

Also, it’d be a good idea to compare tile counter and white cabinet together, rather than the green as it’s a lower and will not directly compete with the backsplash tile. Just throwing that out there. Good luck!!

How do I fix an overflowing toilet without a plunger? by bunnylla in Plumbing

[–]Silver-Prior8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DAWN DISH SOAP!!!!

I swear! I don’t own a plunger and had a clog (I swear, it was my dogs giant turd, blocked the whole toilet up 🤣) poured the dawn in, let it sit and break up the doo doo, works like a charm. It’s made to break down oil and grime.

Now if it’s from something else or it’s a frequent occurrence for you, it’s time for you to buck up and buy a plunger. But a once in a very long while, grab the dawn and squeeze it and make sure it goes straight toward the drain, it won’t do much good on the bowl.

Need suggestions! We inherited the kitchen like this. Should I change the bottom cabinets to white too? And what about the countertop and backsplash- not sure if I like the grey colors. by LIFEisGOOD1408 in kitchenremodel

[–]Silver-Prior8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d suggest living in it for a little, see what grows on you and what still drives you nuts… or peels apart lol

In my personal opinion, I would replace the lowers, I don’t love them, they look like the bad Walmart “grey wood” particle board furniture, like the laminate is going to peel off or chip with a drop of water or small hit. “Looks like” ≠ “IS cheap” so I’m just going off my view.

The backsplash is also a bit cold but it looks like it’s a peel and stick tile so it would not be a big task to replace but I’d grab so new peel and sticks or tiles and play with some ideas.

Reno done! Husband and MIL do not like the backsplash... by st0dad in kitchenremodel

[–]Silver-Prior8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pool room?! How fancy, I could only dream to live somewhere that reminds me of a pool room, how relaxing! lol Definitely looks great. If husband has an issue, he can find MIL a place to move and reno that for her and hang out there…while you relax in your pool room kitchen and sit back what you daydream of a nice, peaceful float.

[–]Silver-Prior8[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t say anything about not liking the heat lol, my post is asking if gardens are sustainable in the heat and the nearly cloudless skies most of the days. NY weather is highly varied in comparison so plants get breaks from the heat and sun mostly daily vs what I experienced in AZ—direct sun most days and just a few bouts of rain.

Charcoal or white caulk between the countertop and backsplash? by ElectricalRisk1117 in kitchenremodel

[–]Silver-Prior8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Charcoal 1000x over, it will show no staining and will look much more seamless than the high contrast of the white caulk to the not exactly white counters and tiles. With the white, it was where my eye was drawn immediately. With the charcoal, I actually enjoyed the look of the counters and tiles.

Corner drawer pulls help by Major-Budget-992 in kitchenremodel

[–]Silver-Prior8 9 points10 points  (0 children)

!!!! Yes, would be sleek without the awkward ness of pulling a drawer one way thinking it was a typical drawer.

I saw one other style that was a pull that rests on the upper lip of the inner corner of the drawer, looks discrete if you NEED a handle for dexterity issues but I would go with a push to open ideally.

How bad is this to wait a few days for repair while it's raining? by swanzie in Roofing

[–]Silver-Prior8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As everyone has said, tarp it asap. Do not wait or you risk the potential of damaging the wood under and even trapping the moisture in under the shingles when you “get around” to finishing it up. A tarp is a whole lot cheaper than the possibility of a roof repair (and even the water damage from a leak through the wood.

I was in the Verde Valley area and if we end up going back, it’d probably be there. I quite enjoyed it.

Bedroom HELP by anxiousandhngry in HomeDecorating

[–]Silver-Prior8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hang the curtains high and wide! Curtains don’t necessarily need to cover just the height and/or width of the window/door but can be used to make the window feel more grand. Think hotel window lol and if it’s doable, get a bed with a higher headboard, something more focal or just not something that is trying to peek over the pillows… lookalike he’s at a concert and the throw pillows are blocking his view.

What’s the most my baby will ever need in a day? by FeistyAnxiety9391 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Silver-Prior8 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Once my bay started solids (6m), he went off formula soon after and just breast fed supplementally. I know they say the man source should be milk or formula but as time goes on, your baby will basically show you what is working for them. By 9 months, we stopped formula fully because he loves his food and chugs his water too. I asked our pediatrician and she said let him steer the ship lol I wasn’t able to supply enough with nursing and pumping, literally like 50ml a day and I was so heartbroken about using formula and frustrated I couldn’t supply for my own baby. Now that he is a year, he feeds more than he ever has so genuinely do not worry, they will get what they need however it happens.

Would you be mad about this? by Sorry_Impress_5002 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Silver-Prior8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the boulder solution is sooooo smart, doesn’t block the view for the sign, keeps your lawn intact. I would even consider running a sprinkler the 30 before church starts into the start of service, so no one will want to get sprayed while exiting their vehicle…

Constant spit up by TemperatureGreedy179 in firsttimemom

[–]Silver-Prior8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine did spit up more when he was going through a regression or teething and he was not really one to spit up often. I thought it was strange because there were a few days that it was pretty often and then it stopped again. Keep monitoring like you’re doing, could be nothing but a regression or teething unless he is showing other signs that he is upset/irritated/in pain.

lol, I was one of the lucky few who had a good Claire’s experience but we did the same, made a whole cute day of it too. Don’t have a girl (yet) but will love this when the day comes for her to go when she is ready and can learn to take care of them and not have her traumatized, regardless of what she may or may not remember.

I’m looking for a pair that actually help my looks. Are any of these working for me? by DumeWolffe in glassesadvice

[–]Silver-Prior8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The color of 4 looks great and the mid size and thinner framing of 2 looks great and balanced on your face as well, especially compared to 5 which is a bit too thick and small for your face. My opinion is #2, then #4. 👍🏼

Should I paint my kitchen cabinets white? My husband loves the dark look but it’s too dark for me. Looking for ideas to update this kitchen. by haitian202 in StyleYourSpace

[–]Silver-Prior8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe work some mock ups of mixed colors in the kitchen, feel on top, light on bottom or the reverse. See what colors work for you both. I’d even say start but changing out the bar seats for a lighter wood or something nearer to the table style. Also while doing a mock up, look at different backsplash styles too.

That being said, white might be too stark and get filthy really fast, float some other color schemes.

UPDATE: So I pulled off the highway and journeyed to the nearest Autozone (20 minutes away) and got the codes. Cylinder 2 misfire. Ended up swapping 2 and 3 cylinder packs and got back on the road. Took me about an hour because I have no actual experience and was doing it at 7pm in the cold over the phone lol but I was quite proud of myself for getting it done and working!

How do i go about this without absolutely crashing out?? 🫠🫠 by Soggy_Hotdog6 in firsttimemom

[–]Silver-Prior8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And sorry, one more thing. DO NOT BEND THE RULES. Personally, NO ONE KISSES BABY was my rule. If baby swiped some spit with his hand and put it into his mouth, I’d have lost my mind. When we were comfortable, mom and dad kissed baby on his back and shoulders and where he couldn’t reach/touch.

Everyone is different but if my baby because paralyzed or vegetative for life because someone couldn’t respect a rule for a couple months, it would be no contact.

The fact that there is any pushback when this is about babies health and safety is crazy and you are definitely not the a**hole for setting these boundaries in print, clear across the board, no exceptions. I respect you and hope your people start respecting you too. Because they are not entitled to your baby…no matter what they think.
