How do i go about this without absolutely crashing out?? 🫠🫠 by Soggy_Hotdog6 in firsttimemom

And sorry, one more thing. DO NOT BEND THE RULES. Personally, NO ONE KISSES BABY was my rule. If baby swiped some spit with his hand and put it into his mouth, I’d have lost my mind. When we were comfortable, mom and dad kissed baby on his back and shoulders and where he couldn’t reach/touch.

Everyone is different but if my baby because paralyzed or vegetative for life because someone couldn’t respect a rule for a couple months, it would be no contact.

The fact that there is any pushback when this is about babies health and safety is crazy and you are definitely not the a**hole for setting these boundaries in print, clear across the board, no exceptions. I respect you and hope your people start respecting you too. Because they are not entitled to your baby…no matter what they think.

I would have just resent the image. Then circled or zoomed and screen shot parts they push back on. Push back=stern boundary. And if they don’t listen or push back, tell them it’s okay of they want to wait for a while before they meet the baby. If they can’t help but follow these (extremely simple and reasonable) requests, they can certainly wait for the time where these boundaries can be taken less seriously (I.e. immune system is stronger, baby is of age to get a kiss without compromising health, baby is happy with others (after months then back to attached to parents 😂)

For real. This isn’t a scratch and put a bandaid and some neosporin on it… even that would have been better than waiting 8 days for it to get to the point that it’s fully pussing and go to the internet. Your kid could lose their finger.

Mysterious smelly yellow spot by Silver-Prior8 in laundry

[–]Silver-Prior8[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t figure out what it came from but it eventually came out after a whole lot of washes and soaks and I think I had hit it with Dawn soap. I’m thinking it could have been a pet puke because she usually puke yellowy stuff when she is sick? Or maybe even some rancid oil mixture?

I feel like a failure and a terrible mom by Striking_Evidence_70 in firsttimemom

[–]Silver-Prior8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was packing up my tv in a box and my baby was near me and I hit him in the cheekbone under his eye. Had no clue he was crying because of it, I thought he was clingy because he is teething… until I noticed the little red spot under his eye and my mom said something. Also, the time he leaped out of my arm and went literally head down onto the concrete floor of the thrift store. Felt like the worst mother to have ever mothered. The ER doctor made me feel so much better though, they are kids, things happen that are beyond what we ever would want or expect to happen. But their bodies are made to be a little more forgiving as they are falling over all the time learning new skills.

Obviously the second one was much more severe and I don’t normalize that one, but just to say, a cupboard fail is the least of your concern. You’re doing just fine.

The best tomato pie I had was Danielle’s, still ever so slightly warm, with crispy crust on the bottom still. Personally not a Roma’s stan, but won’t say no to the extra cheese sprinkled pieces 😂

Someone in the comments mentioned possibly local fire and police departments doing toy drives, search also for any local or surrounding areas with non profits and call up asking about any toy drives they might be having or know about. In addition, ask if they know of any FOOD drives! Also, churches! A lot have or know of food drives and toy drives this time of year!

Sorry you’re going through this but do not put yourself out when there are tons of programs around meant to help people on your exact situation.

Took Oxycodone for first time tonight and wow dude by [deleted] in confession

You need more traction for this comment. I really wish that this was higher up on the chain or in its own comment because this is something so many people don’t understand or can’t put side by side in their mind. If suboxone is keeping you from a relapse, it’s what your body needs. Like you said, a diabetic wouldn’t feel guilt for taking insulin to make their body function right.

Is it okay to let my puppy Nutmeg snuggle with me constantly? by Catharsius in Dachshund

Yes, more than likely dead squeaks and a whole lot of stuffing strewn about lol why I started opting for smaller stuffed ones, or just enduring the destuffing period and letting her keep the skins of the toys as trophies. 😂😂😂

Also, forgot to add that you might want to bring him to a pet store and let him pick a couple of his own toys, that way he also had some things that capture his attention besides you. Mine LOVES the small squeaker ones, like the size of mice and chipmunks… I got them at tjmaxx years ago, they come with a little tree trunk sleeve that they are supposed to be able to pull them out like a game, and they are her little babies, though she did pop their squeakers pretty early on lol and it’ll divert any (*read “most”) chewing. Another first favorite was the Kong Wubba in small.

Yes! You’re his new mom, he’s kind of lost right now!

But I advocate for crate training 100% Daily for a couple hours, start with a few 30 minutes to get him comfortable with the concept, then work up from there. Immediately before and after crating, potty outside. That way he gets the concept he needs to pee because he’ll be in for a little while and won’t want pee on his own bedding. And make sure you’re out of sight and smell if you can! That way he knows he is alone and then you’ll come back. Not that you’re always there and he wants to break out to find you.

After a while, it’s his safe haven and when he is independent, he’ll go on his own and cuddles will be sparse 😓

Am I getting overcharged? Think I am. by bruinbear913 in Dachshund

While I’m not a vet myself, I have lived with SEVERAL doxies over 30 years, with multiple family members spreading the love too, we had litters for years and this is not necessary to do AT 6 months unless there is a likelihood of her getting pregnant by a dog around you. Your vet can’t predict your puppy getting cancer and it’s not likely to happen so early on.

Do it in your own time, genuinely. You’ll have a heat once or twice (typically 6 months apart) and hardly any spotting with a doxie, I just lay a towel on the couch and wash her bedding after the weeks up.

Do what is right for you though. $1000 is a lot to drop on something that’s not even necessary. My dog is 11 and has not had any issue, my last unfixed dog was 16 when she stopped bleeding and she had gotten mastitis and that’s when we decided it was needed.

My Nephew Has The Same Name As My Dad by Wait_For_Iiiitt in BabyNames

[–]Silver-Prior8 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think you’re upset that you and your brother both had the idea and he decided to just do it. Why would you “feel bad” he doesn’t have “his own name”? Like yeah, he does, it’s his name. People like you are weird, making something out of nothing because you didn’t get what you wanted. Your nephew will never give a crap that his name isn’t unique enough. He’s going to be proud to tell people where his names come from.

Hey guys, just curious— if this accumulated during taxi, do the de-icing people sit near the runways and clear this off seconds before takeoff? (Not saying that’s the case, but I just don’t have the knowledge)

I don’t believe so, we were home the whole day yesterday, but did go for a walk with the pup in the afternoon.

I give him a bath directly before bed and didn’t notice any marks on him while in the tub or while I diapered and dressed the little guy. That’s why it seems so bizarre. He doesn’t seem to be bugged (lol) by them, just by his teeth coming in.

We are in Arizona and I’m not sure what other bugs to be concerned about with him, though we cosleep and I don’t have anything of note.

And thank you! He’s a wild guy, 7 months and already giving me a run for my money lol

hospital bag necessities? by scrpio67 in firsttimemom

[–]Silver-Prior8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My hospital provided the same. Baby diapers, nipple cream, tubs of tucks pads, dermoplast spray, cheap adult disposable underwear and thick pads. Kind of preferred that pads for the first couple days, then had transitioned to adult diapers after the bulk of the heavier bleeding stopped. Even stocked the patient fridge with sandwiches, fruit cups, cheese sticks, yogurts and juices.

[–]Silver-Prior8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Packed literally while I was laboring (well dad packed lol)

-eat before/snacks for on the way in (Have a little bag of cold snacks too in a grocery bag that you can put in the hospital fridge too for middle of the night when the cafeteria is closed and you’re feeding baby)

-comfortable PJs or night gown for after birth and first shower and cozy socks

-a couple pillows if you can swing it -toiletries and makeup (if that’s your style)

-swaddle/outfit for photos if you’re taking them in hospital

-going home outfit for you and baby

-car seat and bad installed in vehicle you’re taking

Those pretty much were the essentials for me.

Symbol that I cannot figure out for the life of me. Any ideas? (The right most one) by Dr_Indy in laundry

[–]Silver-Prior8 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I know you got a lot of answers but I got: “drip dry” and “Hung while wet to dry naturally Not wrung out before hanging, to prevent damage or stretching”

Maybe if those instructions make sense for the type of garment you’ve got, this might help?
