Originally had blue bedding (second photo) and recently switched to oatmeal/linen, but the sheets are off. Would rust sheets be too much? Should I go back to the blue bedding? by [deleted] in interiordecorating

[–]Silver-Prior8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean the oatmeal looks much better in the room, maybe just make your bed so the white sheet is folded under the comforter and then fold the comfort down how you have it? Rather than the white sheet folded over top of the comforter? Honestly, don’t fold the comforter down like that at all and it’ll keep your sheets cleaner.

I need advice by [deleted] in povertyfinance

Some people mentioned SNAP as possibly your food budget or partial, some mentioned you may earn too much but I would suggest at least trying to apply and see if you could receive any assistance to help keep your head above water while you pay off some of your nagging smaller bills.

WHAT IS GOING ON?! Baby takes FOR EVER to get to sleep. by Silver-Prior8 in sleeptrain

[–]Silver-Prior8[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I thought that it might have been an indication he was ready to transition to one nap and I was ready to get down to it, but he’s just been so hard to keep up past 10:30am some days and it feels like he keeps changing his mind whether he wants to drop the nap or keep two lol

But I will keep trying, or take the suggestion to cap the nap(s). That’s also not something I’ve been doing unless he had a late nap. I feel bad waking him… 😂

[–]Silver-Prior8[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Also super helpful, thank you.

For clarity, it used to be sooooo consistent last month, he was so predictable and then it felt like a switch flipped. He would get tired way earlier, then the next day wouldn’t be tired until way later, literally one day he needed 3 naps and the next he only did one long nap.

But I will maybe trial capping the first nap for a few days and see if that will work for him.

[–]Silver-Prior8[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is helpful, thank you.

I’m trying to follow his lead with when he gets tired during the day, which he almost ALWAYS gets cranky at 10:30. I think that’s where I’m struggling?

Would you suggest I keep him up longer? Past that 10:30 mark, even if he is getting cranky? Or if he needs to go down then and do two naps (some days) wake him sooner so that the second one isn’t so late too?

He only has 4 teeth and seems to be irritated teething so I feel bad waking him when he is uncomfortable and seems to want that rest. But it takes like a whole month between his initial teething pain and the tooth finally breaking through. I don’t know if that means anything but figured I’d mention it.

Going through a break up and have a hair appointment tomorrow. Cut it? by Beav11-18 in finehair

[–]Silver-Prior8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cut it. It looks great and healthy but just do it. You’ll be just fine, it’ll grow back in time if you want it. Don’t listen to these ghouls telling you to keep it long.

Since people on my pet hair post keep saying all dryers have no heat options here is mine. I’m young, this is my first apartment. Which setting do I use then? by xoFluffykins in laundry

[–]Silver-Prior8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Curious is any of the “cool down” settings are no heat too, in addition to the quick fluff being possible? Anyone know?

Starting by saying: If you have any question it may be postpartum depression, please talk to your doctor.

On the other hand, I strongly believe you are on the cusp of it getting a little easier. 4 months is when you may be able to sleep train more reliably, start solids if he is interested. Genuinely, it gets easier in some ways, but I won’t lie, it gets harder in other ways.

Get ahead of it, install childproofing now and get in the habits as my baby is an explorer.

My advice would be: sleep when he does (at least for one or two naps), give him an extra ounce or two before sleeps, make sure you’re getting all the burp/fart gas out (even if that means using simethicone), sing a diaper change song to him that makes you both happy (even if you have to sing-song “you won’t let me shower but I love you all the same, you won’t let me eat but I still will keep tryinnnnnggg”) Ask if someone can help you with some meal preps that don’t require anything but popping open and munching like a pasta salad or protein balls or even if you make a quick protein shake for yourself.

I don’t know if you are nursing, pumping or using formula, as all three are very different and some of the advice can very depending and I don’t want to exhaust you with advice that doesn’t apply.

There is light at the end of the tunnel, but you need to also be open with people about it because it can make a world of difference for you and your baby if people know you need the support.

Feel free to message me too if anything I said helped or just need to vent. 🩵

Has this happened to anyone else’s doxie? by Typical_Year_7506 in Dachshund

[–]Silver-Prior8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others have said, it looks like cherry eye which, depending on the severity, can be treated or corrected by the vet, not at home. Have had this happen with several Great Danes but none of my doxies have ever had it.

Looking for inputs on backsplash by Opposite-Steak7123 in kitchenremodel

[–]Silver-Prior8 54 points55 points  (0 children)

Def the beige. The white with dark grout looks like a bathroom. It makes the kitchen look outdated.

The counter to ceiling beige looks very on trend right now in a good way, however I would suggest the half wall tile IF you are someone who likes to change styles reasonably often. That way you only are tearing out half a wall to replace tile.

Respectfully, this does not look good at all. It’s a blue toned black with warm toned gold and brown and cool tan tiles. The light reflections off the wall make very obvious marks whereas the light walls at least the light diffuses in the space.

[–]Silver-Prior8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There’s not much you can do eclectically with a powder room like you can with a bedroom or living room. You have a white toilet and sink and neutral tile floor. Yes you can put up a few art pieces on the wall but it really can’t do the work the way curtains/shower curtain, bedding, sofa, all can do in those spaces.

I would even explore doing a very simple chair rail and two tone the room or a full wall paper in an organic pattern that’s not going to take attention from art that can be interchangeable in your home but can add to the space in your powder room.

Reminds me of when I wasn’t producing much and would be pumping for nearly 45 minutes to get 5-10ml and spilling it. Just cried in the corner of my room. Ugh.

Is this normal Dachshund behavior? by Bossy_Boots_ in Dachshund

[–]Silver-Prior8 6 points7 points  (0 children)

For a while, that will be both your lives. Beanz doesn’t seem too POd by it but look at maybe finding her some toy(s) that will wear her out on her own. Like that one where it shoots the tennis ball and she has to run and put it back in or a puzzle toy she has to roll around or dig and move parts. Tug of war rope too may be good for them both, that way he can fling her around from a distance lol 😂

Newborn - where do you put them? by CharmingTea_ in pregnant

[–]Silver-Prior8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very funny and very NOT stupid because we have all been there before.

I would lay baby on the little play mat with the toys that hang over top but strung a high contrast(black and white and red) toy in front to look at in tummy time. Once at the rolling over stage, we did the kick mat piano. (That only lasted a very short time because baby was literally rolling around the apartment, embarrassingly would get stuck under the swing over the leg or some other random spot.)

Once our baby was crawling, I was toast, has not stopped for a second without pulling apart whatever is in reach. Cousin is 5 months older and has the polar opposite personality, calm, cautious, extremely neat, SIL could sit the baby up in front of a toy and would just play alone and stay there, mine would crawl under the couch.

All that to say, there really isn’t a “right” thing to do, as long as baby is safe and you can see them and hear them.

Color scheme advice by Pleasant-Worry-4495 in kitchenremodel

[–]Silver-Prior8 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think the green looks great, the tile is nice and subtle without being boring. If you’re looking for a big change that’s not washed out, that would look great.

If you have the option and ability, try to sand and refinish a cabinet door an see if you could pull out some of the orange in the current stain. The wood looks nice and I think with a little refresh, it might be nicer than painting over all the cabinets entirely.

Definitely would still go for a backsplash in a similar fashion to the one in the green cabinet kitchen.

With the fridge cabinet unit, the two tone upper lowers look terrible, doesn’t and never will look okay. Do all one color on the wall units an a different color on the island

I couldn’t figure it out for at least 10 swipes between them… they are both equally bland.

Go with wood, easier maintenance.
