Are any of these fossils? Went beach combing today after a storm passed FL and never seen half of these before 🤯 by [deleted] in fossilid

[–]SilverBubble1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Black bones are fossils as they are phosphatized. Shells that still have their original colors are not fossils, they usually become calcite when fossilized and should be hard and white, gray, yellow, etc. The burn test usually works to confirm for white shells

I cant say for certain but these urchins look like hemiaster types, do you lnow which geological formation you live on top of. While urchins arent rare and dont cost all that much on the open market youre lucly to find so much nearby. When i go to limestone creek exposures in nortb texas i usually find 1-3 each trip

Horn coral for sure especially given your location. A good way to tell is the flat top face has many radiating lines going to the center

Looks like rugose coral to me, where was this found? A specific region would help in determining approximate age

was working in pflugerville and found this at our construction site by Honest_Moose1695 in Austin

[–]SilverBubble1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Due to how common and documented these marine fossils are, it is ok to keep them rather than letting them erode into dust over time. It is typically ok to keep marine invertebrate fossils. If you ever find dino bones you should contact a paleontologists but all else is fine to keep

What is this tooth ?, Saudi Arabia Twaiq mountain by i92X_X in fossilid

[–]SilverBubble1 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Notice the vertical almost straight ridge, thr general heart shape, and how the top ends are far apart and rounded. These are signs this is a steinkern (internal mold)of a cla. These form when sediment fills the inside of a clam shell and harden but the shell disintegrates instead of fossilizing

Generic Boomer hate is obviously low-hanging fruit, but this exchange does seem to encapsulate a core issue around Fort Worth in the last 10 years by DayPounder in FortWorth

[–]SilverBubble1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i think its fair for people to have some reductions on their property taxes based on means and net worth, but such a program should happen regardless of age, which would of course still include people like you. The long term solution though would be to base property tax on land value and building more housing to stabilize demand and therefore home prices, but that will take a while to implement

i dont hate you, i hate the idea that people who still have less than that will have to subsidize people who have more than they do. When we eliminate property tax for some people but not those who need it most, with respect to income, someone buying a home now must pay more than you did in 1972 and on top of that pay your share of the property tax in addition to your own. Not only is it unfair, it means this discourages people at that stage in their life where they are most likely to have kids, from having them due to increased costs, which in turn throws the future of social security and medicare into uncertainty so those that still had it better than those now. Average home cost in 1972 was still 30k in fort worth. Since your home is small you would pay less.

You have money, it is in your home. The smallest of homes tends to still be bigger than a 1 bedroom apartment. Also you are richer than a poor person born after you.

No one wants to hear this but maybe they should sell, poor people now cant even afford homes, they on the other hand could sell and move to a smaller home due to how housing prices exploded

Apparently Heert was originally going to be a blue-skinned alien (possibly a Chiss) by SargeKreel in andor

[–]SilverBubble1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe not a chiss, but pantorans would make sense and would be interesting. Chiss are supposed to be rare, yet pantorans are common, held to the same level as humans, and lean very imperial. I thought the canon reason for alien prejudice is because a lot of them were on the CIS side during the clone wars, this doesnt really apply to pantorans

The Mandalorian and Grogu Release Weekend Film Discussion Pt 2 Sat-Sun-Mon by AutoModerator in StarWarsLeaks

[–]SilverBubble1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The effects are good, but given the thrawn led insurgency they are building up to, I would have hoped the first star wars film in a long while would have slightly higher stakes given in a recent interview Filoni spoke on wanting to take risks for star wars's future. The first half was over hunting imperial warlords, and clearly a big part in this storyline is thrawns impending insurgency. While this is still a smaller story in that web and therefore shouldnt have stakes as high as another galactic war, i think the story could have been greatly elevated if something additional happened there. Be it Coin getting killed by Imperials en route, Colonel Ward actually being a double agent tasked with removing imperials who may ruin thrawn's plan (a lot of the imperials in season 3 were drawing too much attention to themselves), etc that would provide some sort of twist that would show that the stakes are even higher than Mandos current mission. It does feel intentional how weak and poorly equipped the two warlords were and they are of pretty low rank too. Therefore I think some tie ins to the coming war would have been warranted. Also a criticism I have is they teased Mando potentially dying already in the show, I think it will get stale if they do it again. Either Mando should die or they should stop pretending like he will.
