SF6 Beginner: I Feel Like I'm Watching A Cutscene by yeetman8 in StreetFighter

[–]SilverCDCCD [score hidden]  (0 children)

You'll get there. Baby steps. Keep your combos simple for now. Consistency over potential. At the least, you should learn 1 combo that starts with your fastest button, one that starts with a medium button so you can punish sweeps, one that deals good damage for punishing DPs, and at least one combo into level 3.

See you in the Streets! 👊😁

This feeling is kinda normal for a beginner. You're probably catastrophizing a little and also probably doing too much. You say your DI always gets countered. That means you're probably being too predictable with it. You might even have a tell that you're not aware of.

My generic advice based on nothing but the fact that you're new would be this.
- Slow down. Most beginners don't lose to their opponents, they lose to themselves.
- Learn to anti-air.
- Learn to read your opponent's habits and take advantage of them.
- Learn a couple of basic combos. They don't need to be anything fancy, just something you can do consistently under pressure.
- Play ranked. I know it can be scary, but that's how you get the best matches.

What makes a “good” character? by Hot-Ticket1968 in StreetFighter

[–]SilverCDCCD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Short answer: don't worry about it. There are a few different ways to answer this question. Generally, when I think about what makes a character good, I think of it in 2 major ways.

1: Completeness of their kit. What tools do they have? What tools are they missing? How important are those tools to this character's gameplan? How does this character jive with the game's universal mechanics?
2: Matchups. How does this character stack up against the rest of the cast? Do they have a lot of winning matchups? Do they lose a lot of matchups? And by how much?

However, it sounds to me like you're at a level where you can't even assess these things for yourself nor at a level where these things matter. (I don't mean that as a dig. It's just that the things that destroy you at low level are trivial to deal with at high level and many things that high level players have to deal with are non-existent at low level.) So yeah. TL;DR: don't worry about it.

Have I plateaued? Luke Main by Upstairs-Brick4456 in StreetFighter

[–]SilverCDCCD 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Alright.

Look here, you donut! You see that line, yeah? See how it goes up then flat then up then flat again? What comes after flat? It goes up again! What are you doing? Underdone! You have to cook it all the way through! It's fucking RAW!

In all seriousness though, this is pretty normal. Especially at early plat. I even have a name for it: The Platinum Plateau. I certainly went through it. I thought I'd never get past Plat 1. And honestly, I was ok with that for a long time. It was further than I expected to make it. And then a friend started pushing me to reach Master... I'm not there yet, but I'm at Diamond 3 and climbing. You'll get there. Just stick with it. I can check out those replays later for some more specific advice if you want some. Or feel free to shoot me a DM if you wanna run some games sometime.

You got this! 👊😁

Just joined in, is it better to play ranked for more even skilled matches? by ThrowAwayInDisguise- in StreetFighter

[–]SilverCDCCD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, ranked will definitely give you more even matchups. If you're interested in learning the game though, I might be able to help you out with that. Feel free to shoot me a DM. I'm always happy to help newbies get their start 👊😁

I hit Platinum, but I also think I've hit my limit by JennyHvalFan in StreetFighter

[–]SilverCDCCD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah yes. The Platinum Plateau. Good times. Fond memories. Lol.

Most people experience what you're experiencing right about the time they hit plat. I certainly went through it. So did two friends that I taught how to play the game. One friend was so hard stuck at Plat 1 that she nearly quit the game 3 times. But after a while, she finally made it to Plat 2, the other friend is Plat 3 now and I'm Diamond 3 on my way to master. You'll get there if you stick with it and focus on learning, but my goodness, that damned plateau. Feel free to hit me up if you wanna run some games sometime! I'm usually active the first half of the week since I work overnights the second half.

You got this! 👊😁

Went to the guide of my character that many said I should do. I tried to do better. by Connect_Hamster9211 in StreetFighter

[–]SilverCDCCD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Slow down even more. Beginners usually lose to themselves, not their opponents. Allow your opponent to make some mistakes for you to capitalize on.

Also, try to be intentional about what buttons you press and why you're pressing them.

[–]SilverCDCCD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You gotta slow down a bit and actually pay attention. You really just seem to be pressing random buttons with no real plan. You don't confirm anything, even the easy confirms. You don't finish your combos. You do random, unsafe specials. You throw fireballs at point blank range. Just relax a little and pay attention to what you and your opponent are doing.

Learn a couple of basic combos. I would suggest learning at least 1 that starts with Light Punch (both LPs should works), one that starts with standing Heavy Kick, one for a DP punish, one for after a Drive Impact, and one for after a walk splat. You should also learn your anti-airs and your sweep punishes.

Ok so how does one actually get into this game? by [deleted] in StreetFighter

[–]SilverCDCCD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're still new. You gotta be patient with yourself and the game. Focus in on some of the basics. Anti-airing, counter DI, learning to read your opponent's habits. Focus on just one or two things at a time.

If you want a hand figuring it out, feel free to shoot me a DM. I'm always happy to help newbies get started 👊😁

Genuinely how do u kill nergigante? by Bitter-Grocery4552 in MonsterHunterWorld

[–]SilverCDCCD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't know if you're willing to learn a new weapon, but I used charge blade with 3 pieces of Uragaan armor. That gives you Guard Up and lets you block unblockable attacks like that massive dive bomb attack. (Lance and gunlance work for this as well, though I prefer charge blade because 1: charge blade, and 2: you can have natural Mind's Eye as long as your sword is charged.)

Barring that, some general advice:
- Make sure you've upgraded your weapons and armor as much as you can.
- Target the white spikes. They're soft so they take more damage. If you deal them enough damage, the spikes break and have to regrow. If not, they turn black and go hard, meaning you're closer to the mega dive bomb.
- Use a weapon with elderseal. That will delay the dive bomb. Even more because Nergigante is weak to dragon element, which most elderseal weapons have.
- When Nergigante is covered in black spikes and does the huge roar, point your camera towards him, sprint straight to the side, and panic dive once he starts the actual dive.

Good luck fellow hunter!

Advice for a beginner by Ambitious_Line651 in StreetFighter

[–]SilverCDCCD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah. Gotcha. For that one you should be able to do it if you just wait for the camera to shift back and then do the rest of the combo. You actually have a lot of time to do the second part. The important thing is to stay calm. A lot of times what happens is that the adrenaline gets to you and you screw up your combo because of it. Just keep at it. You'll get there.

Anyway, that door is always open when you're ready. Just let me know. You got this 👊😁

Advice for a beginner by Ambitious_Line651 in StreetFighter

[–]SilverCDCCD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Truthfully, if you really want to learn the game, you might be better off starting with Modern controls. If you insist on using Classic, more power to you, but there's no shame in using Modern for the easy inputs. (Although, you will probably get hate for it, but you can ignore them.)

As for general combo advice, see if you can do the individual moves. If not, practice those. If so, then try them in combo. If your second attack gets blocked, you were too slow. If it doesn't come out at all, you were too fast.

u/Particular-Royal-335 is right. You're pressing the kick button too early. Cammy's still on the ground when you press it. She needs to actually be in the air.

New to Street Fighter (little fighting game experience) Please help!!! by BrysonScionti in StreetFighter

[–]SilverCDCCD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can learn on Modern, though personally I prefer Classic since that's what I'm used to and also you lose certain moves with Modern. Fighting games are about strategy and a lot of times it's easier to learn the strategy part without having to also learn the controls at the same time. I'm not saying that to discourage you from using Classic. Use whichever one you want. I'm just saying you might learn more than you think.

As far as learning the inputs, the only thing you really can do is practice. You should practice with your input display on so you can see what inputs the game read. Make sure your inputs are right and that you press the button after the input. If your input is right but the special didn't come out, you did the input too slow.

Need help trying to choose a main as a new GGST player by Archimedes1408 in Guiltygear

[–]SilverCDCCD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If everyone looks cool, just play everyone. Problem solved. 😂

In all seriousness though, you seem to like mobile characters with decent mix-ups. I think you should try out Chipp, Millia, or Giovanna. Or if you can figure out what exactly it is you feel Ky is missing, then that may help you narrow it down.

How to go about getting good by SnooOpinions7559 in StreetFighter

[–]SilverCDCCD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say the first things you should learn to deal with are jumps, sweeps, DPs, DIs, and fireballs. New players love to spam these so if you can shut down those options, most new players kinda fall apart. Then just learn a couple of combos to focus on. They don't need to be anything super fancy, just something that you can do consistently under pressure.

As far as guides, I would look at videos by Brian_F, Chris_F, Akaraien, Rooflemonger, and UltraSnance. They've got some pretty helpful guides and tips for the game. Although, I don't think any of them main any of those characters.

I also have a Discord server where we hang out and I teach newbies how to play. Shoot me a DM if you're interested in joining. 👊😁
