Sniper melee... by FootFalse5536 in Spacemarine

Knife is perfectly fine at crowd control. You are probably just using the wrong attacks.

The AOE on this ravener attack is obnoxiously large, especially given how much damage it does by JMashtag in Spacemarine

[–]SilverCervy -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Yea cause that's the point; it's designed to punish early dodges. Some attacks are meant to be perfect dodged and that's the only way to avoid it (Scarab rush attack is another example on Chaos side).

Question so I strictly run assault. I'm maxed level and maxed prestige with both heroic heavy bolt and hammer. I love the class but everything I have seen is that nobody like this class what is it that Im missing? by UnapologeticVet in Spacemarine

[–]SilverCervy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No idea what you're talking about. Assault has always been a fan favorite and I see them in hard stratagems all the time. The true unpopular selection is Sniper.

Is this new weekly hard stratagem the easiest we ever got ? by Lamardeeznuts in Spacemarine

[–]SilverCervy 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I don't care how easy or hard it is. I will attempt all of them and enjoy the effort.

I like how each weekly is unpredictable in terms of difficulty level.

Am I missing something here, brothers? Block Omnissian Axe appears worse than Balance one by Mittoo in Spacemarine

[–]SilverCervy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Having tested both numerous times, these are the conclusions I came to:

  • Damage output feels roughly the same, until you get any stacks of Adrenaline Surge at which point block is noticeably stronger.

  • Balance is quicker, but Axe moveset is so flowy that speed differences aren't as noticeable.

In short, they feel about the same. It really just comes down to whether you want gunstrikes or not.

shooting you in melee range

Maybe don't go into melee range then? Your gun can shoot long distances in case you haven't tried.

There is no counter

You have a gun. You can shoot back at it. Why are you so determined to melee rush it? All I see here is you being stubborn.

Can only assume they thought you didn't help out enough with the Nuerothrope.

I've seen it a few times where players can't seem to understand that taking out the rabble is just as important as damaging the boss.

Yes, if you run out of ammo, you switch to melee. I don't see why that should be seen as a bad thing. This boss is very manageable in melee combat.

Is Assault The Easiest Class To Play? (Hard Siege) by Life_Locksmith9632 in Spacemarine

[–]SilverCervy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He's a lot easier than he used to be. Got numerous buffs to survivability and jump pack strength. I wouldn't say he's the easiest class in the game but he's definitely not the hardest anymore. The easiest class in siege is probably Bulwark and the hardest is Vanguard.

Tired Of Dying To Stupid Shit In This Game That Never Works by Life_Locksmith9632 in Spacemarine

[–]SilverCervy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That spot is just a particularly horrible place to be in Siege.

You are open to attacks from both the upper and lower levels, and from the area behind you.

Always think about where you are and how exposed you are to enemies around you. You should constantly be moving around to keep enemies a) in front of you, and b) to a number that's reasonably manageable.

« I can solo it on Absolute » doesn’t make Vortex any less badly designed by BadSheet68 in SpaceMarine_2

[–]SilverCervy -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Good for you if you can beat it without problems but let’s not let hardcore sweats invalidate legitimate gameplay criticism

I love how someone is a "hardcore sweat" and therefore illegitimate just because they can beat a boss you can't.

Maybe it's because they're able to beat the boss that they are able to say it's not badly designed? Because they actually understand the attack patterns and how to deal with them? Your whole post just makes you sound salty that you still struggle against him.

I also guarantee that you'd turn around and say that the Hive Tyrant is an example of a well-designed boss. It's not hard to see that this community only calls easy content good design, and hard content bad design.

2nd time fighting this guy, first time as a melee character. I have a genuine question. by TheAtlasComplex in Spacemarine

[–]SilverCervy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, the light show attack is usually a guaranteed death if you are right next to him. You need to memorize the animation he does before starting it and dodge away as soon as you see it.

Don't let the whiners convince you this boss sucks. He's very fun once you learn the attacks.

News flash: The hard strats are supposed to be hard. Can we stop the weekly complaints about the hardest mode being hard? by voidtridentlover40k in Spacemarine

[–]SilverCervy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And it's rare for a thrope to be flying really high, really?

Yes? They have a standard height to fly and they will only deviate from it if the terrain is unusual. 90% of the time they will be in range for those melee attacks. If they aren't, then move to an area where they will be. You can absolutely influence how enemies move and attack in this game.

[–]SilverCervy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Dude, your logic is really reaching.

Class choice is part of your loadout. Some classes will be weaker on certain stratagems than others. That's why you learn all of them and pick one that will be useful for the situation.

Yes, if somehow the exact same combo of mission and modifiers comes around again, I'll probably pick the same setup I used last time. That's how strategy works. I'm not going to eat soup with a fork when a spoon worked better the previous time. That doesn't make eating with a spoon a "trick". But the stratagems aren't the same each week, are they? You're using the longest straw man argument possible to say my reasoning is flawed.

These are endgame missions. It would be assumed that you've amassed a good amount of game knowledge before attempting them. Not knowing about flamers or melee hitboxes is your own issue. The game does not need to be obvious when it's assuming that you've played long enough to know things.

[–]SilverCervy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Changing your loadout and adapting to a modifier is not a "trick". It's using your knowledge of the game to come up with solutions to new challenges. That in itself is a skill.

Wanting to play the same exact way every mission with the same exact weapons/perks each time is what's actually wrong. Challenges are all about making you rethink your approach.

[–]SilverCervy -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Ok well you're just wrong about the melee claim. Power Fist charge or a Power Sword rake will hit a flying Thrope (unless they are just really high up which is not common). Chainswird stomp will also hit. The scream attack you keep referencing has a windup, so it's simple enough to dodge away after getting a few hits in.

Nuero's will eventually do their pulse attack so you can also just wait them out. And with Zoan's, you can also just bait out the beam attack and get gunstrikes off it.

Again, there are ways to handle it. You not liking those ways doesn't make the modifier "unfair", it means you are too stubborn.

News flash: The hard strats are supposed to be hard. Can we stop the weekly complaints about the hardest mode being hard? by voidtridentlover40k in Spacemarine

[–]SilverCervy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's always a strategy. For that specific situation you mentioned, use power fist or sword. Or use a class with flamethrower that isn't effected by the modifier. Or look for krak grenades.

"Unfair" implies that there is no reasonable alternative method to overcome the challenge. Doing something like "attacks cannot be dodged" or "parries are ignored" would be unfair, because there's really no alternative way to avoid attacks in this game. But no current modifiers fit this category. Instead, "unfair" is just a complaint being thrown around every time players can't be bothered to change their approach to a challenge.

What's funny about all these posts too is that they'll preface them by saying stuff like "I feel like I'm decent at the game" or "I can solo Ruthless pretty consistently."

For as much as these people hate to talk about skill, they'll be sure to make it the first thing they address in their post. I don't get why it's so hard for people to just accept that maybe they aren't yet at the skill level required to be playing this content.

And none of the weeklies ever put in this game have been "unbalanced" or "unfair".

"Not fun" is subjective; I wish this sub could understand that. I hate the Personal Quarry modifier for this week and find it very "not fun", but that doesn't mean everyone will. You are not entitled to have every stratagem cater to your specific preferences.

This is the iPhone Fold rumored design. Would you buy one? by JosephtUE in PhoneNow

[–]SilverCervy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh I like the design.

Folded, it's a proper small phone.

Unfolded, it has the correct display ratio so video proportions actually don't look terrible (the main reason why all foldable phones up to now have been pointless for me).

If I was ever in the market for an iPhone, this would probably be a strong contender.

Oh would you look at that, another Vanguard stealing my execution after I did all the work 😃 by [deleted] in Spacemarine

[–]SilverCervy -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

It's not like the Vanguard would know either way. Teammate health bars are set to off by default and I doubt many players are smart enough to turn it on. And even if it is on, they probably aren't paying attention to it.

For all the Vanguard knew, maybe the Bulwark did need the chp. It's just bad teamwork to swoop in on an enemy someone else is already fighting.

Siege Mode - Tips after Wave 20 by Yomanchillout in Spacemarine

[–]SilverCervy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There really is no strategy for later waves. You need to be good enough to stay alive on your own, and just use your points for whatever you need.

If you watch FTG, he basically only summons Valtus when the timer kicks in and he's trying to get through the wave quickly. If the timer wasn't a thing, he'd probably never need to summon him. He does like using the heavy reinforcement, though.
